On last night’s late-night shows (and one weird one at 10 p.m.), everyone who qualified as “a charismatic guy with a teleprompter” reacted to Sarah Palin’s address to the National Tea Party Convention. They also picked up on what Jon Stewart called Palin’s “Maverick-y note card hand-scribble buzz words” Palin had been consulting instead of a teleprompter. Politico.com compiled the best moments as Stewart, Jimmy Fallon, Jay Leno, and Stephen Colbert attempted to go analog themselves.
Which buzzwords are on your hands today? My left hand says “Slezak” and the right one says “Kill” but the lettering is backwards. And “look in the mirror” has been knitted into my sweater upside-down, but that’s usually the case. I don’t know what it all means because I don’t have a teleprompter. Life!

This really disgusts me, Sarah Palin had a couple of notes on her hand.
Obama uses a teleprompter during a PARTY!!!! When the teleprompter messed up he wound up thanking himself for throwing the shindig (No joke!)
But for a year we don’t hear a peep about it. SNL even released a statement saying that Obama wasn’t a funny topic!
I’m just pointing out the double standard, Palin has a couple of crib notes and she is an idiot. Obama can’t go to a public setting without his double teleprompters but he’s the great Orator.
One of her notes was even crossed out! She couldn’t even get her crib notes straight before reminding herself to mention tax cuts at a tea party gathering.
I’m a little surprised that “Budget” wasn’t obscured with White-out, to be honest.
What about the past GOP Q and A where he demolished his detractors without any teleprompter or notes? I think what gets people is the hypocrisy – she slams Obama for the teleprompter, but can’t sit through a FRIENDLY question period without inane talking points on her hand. At least the teleprompter provides real information – lots of it that would be difficult to remember without assistance. Why couldn’t she remember the 5 words she had written on her hand without help?
Relax. You obviously haven’t watched Stewart or Colbert as they have made jokes about Obama’s teleprompter.

Nerwen, we’ve seen both Palin and Obama speak off the cuff, independently of any teleprompter or notes – Obama at the town hall meetings, Palin in interviews – and I think that speaks for itself.

Is this moron really the future of the republican party in their eyes (repubs, help me out and let me know that you don’t all support her)? I really hope for their sake they’ve got something else in the wings. But for pure entertainment sake, I kind of hope not, cause dang, she f’s up everytime she’s on camera. It’s comedy gold! (p.s. I’m not a dem trying to make controversy – I don’t even live in the States. Just soaking up some of the funny).
The republicans I know are too smart for this. Palin is appealing to the white people who feel disenfrachised because the USA elected a president who is non-white. That’s my observation.

Quitter Palin forgot to make the distinction that President Obama only uses teleprompters when giving speeches (which he does many times a week). He’s already shown that he can demolish the House Republicans without crib notes or a teleprompter. President Obama has more smarts in his little finger than Palin has in her entire brain.

We’ve had a lot of snow in the midwest lately, but the biggest flake is Sarah Palin and all those who could possibly think she is in any way qualified to be a presidential candidate! As long as the Republican Party keeps aligning itself with representatives like Palin and Rush Limbaugh, Democrats have nothing to fear about losing intelligent voters. Palin and Rush are riding on the coattails of their own egos, talk the talk the extremely right wing zealots want to hear, but they don’t walk the walk. If Alaska quitter, Palin, or Mr. Oxycotin offered arsenic laced Koolaid to these blind followers, I wonder if they would drink it!
Please leave the Alaska part off! She no longer is governor she is an emarassment to us. She was only elected from the lesser of two evils. She does not represent what “Alaskans” are.

I can sympathize, I’m in Texas and we’ve had Rick Perry embarrassing us for far too long, but have had no strong other candidates. So I hope things change this election.

Tony, Barack Obama has talked extemporaneously plenty of times without a teleprompter and proven intelligent, insightful and articulate. Sarah Palin’s star nova’ed when she couldn’t formulate a simple sentence to respond to questions during televised interviews during the 2008 election. You live in a fantasy world where you’d love the opposite to be true, but that’s just not the case. And what college speech class teaches you to write your notes on your hands?
