The “Pants on the Ground” phenomenon continues to resonate. One night after 62-year-old “General” Larry Platt introduced the contagious public-service advisory for urban youth on American Idol, Neil Young appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon with his own neilyoung-y rendition. Well, sort of.
Of course, that was actually Fallon, who had previously impersonated Young while singing the theme song from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Fallon’s late-night future might be out of his hands, but his unique talents are another reminder that the boldest and most original chatfests air after midnight.
What did you think of his performance? Did it need more cowbell?

I love. I hope the “Pants” guy gets his own single soon, just because I kinda think he needs it…
love him.
I have been loving Jimmy since day one. He has more fun and it appears his guests do too….he also has the BEST BAND on LATE NIGHT….THE RooTS!
Completley agree with you about the Roots, Best band of any talk show.
I’ve been onboard with Late Night with Jimmy Fallon since day one and I totally agree with Roots being the best! I will be so pissed if he gets bumped..just step down Jay…please step down!
WTF!!!! He sounds just like Young. It’s friggin’ uncanny…
I thought at first that it was somehow a rerun from the last time that “Neil Young” was on. Then he started singing “Pants on the Ground” and *I* almost fell on the ground laughing.
I love Jimmy. Since NBC has fusterclucked things up so thoroughly, maybe they need to let Leno and Conan both go and give the time slot to Jimmy. Conan can go to Comedy Central and Leno can just go away.
haha! Was the first time when Neil Young singing the Fresh Prince of Bel Air? I was dying then, but this is too funny.
Amazing. Just amazing!
Best moment of the night, partially because it didn’t involve any millionaire celebrities wanting us to feel sorry for them. Fallon is uneven at times but he has some brilliant moments. He’s a lot better than I thought he would be.
This reminds me of why I loved Fallon so much on SNL. He truly is unique. Keep this man on the air, please!
So, Jimmy still hasn’t gotten over his awkwardness, but I find him to be doing some of the most creative, fun and interactive things on late night (see: Beer Pong with Betty White, Celebrity Charades, etc). I hope that he’s given more time by NBC to get more comfortable.
It would be a true shame if Jimmy’s show gets bumped even later than it already is. That show reminds me of what Conan’s show used to be, which makes since because of the time slot. Leno needs to fade into the sunset. his show has never been very good. Way too formulated and sterile, which is what Conan’s show has become too. Jimmy’s show is a lot more organic. Good job Jimmy, I was worried at first, but you got it now!
This is part of Conan’s issue with moving his show later. He knows how many years it took his show to catch on and wants Jimmy to have the same chance. It’s nice to see that respect between professionals!
Wow. Absolutely incredible. Great idea and flawless performance. Oh yeah, and very funny too.
Ahh Jimmy, there you go. I was a little worried about his show at first, but lately I am seeing more and more really funny, quirky things from the show. Good Job!
Very cool.
Loved it. He nailed it better than Neil could.
Bahahahahahaha!! Almost makes up for his tepid comments on the Conan/Leno situation.
i love this songg please play this song again
i agree
Finally! Jimmy Fallon getting some attention on this site. His show is very underrated and he’s getting completely forgotten about in this NBC late-night mess.
Agreed. Everyone hates on Jimmy Fallon, but his show is actually pretty funny and original. Have you seen “The Real Housewives of Late Night”? Funny stuff.
The Real Housewives of Late Night is amazing!!!!
