Chris Harrison dishes on new 'Bachelor,' Jake Pavelka

Bachelorette reject Jake Pavelka gets his pick of ladies in the new season of The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love (get it? he’s a pilot!). As the Jan. 4 premiere approaches, we prepared by chatting up host (and blogger) Chris Harrison about the reality romance’s latest object of affection. “Jake’s a very spiritual guy,” Harrison says. “He wasn’t there to make out and have sex with everybody.” (Hmm, confusing. What will happen in the hot tubs and fantasy suites then?) What’s lacking in PG-13 antics, though, is made up for in drama, Harrison promises. “Jake’s as sincere as any Bachelor we’ve had,” he says. “He really came into this not for the action and adventure but to find a wife. This is something we’ve never had, but it made for a great show. So the women had drama, but it was in a totally different way.”

Harrison talks more about the new season in the video below:

Um, Chris just said: “He really came into this not for the action and adventure but to find a wife. This is something we’ve never had, but it made for a great show.”

NEVER? So did you just admit that no one comes on the show looking for love? Did I just read that? I am not trying to be naive, but at least let us viewers pretend that people want to find love!

Please someone tell me I misunderstood!

Chris will live to regret that big giveaway statement- why did they ever make it about marriage- it’s called The Bachelor- it should be called ‘Hot Bachelor Nights’ or something similar. Ridiculous!

I’m not sure this season will be a hit-especially if, instead of hitting it in the hot tub, we’re going to see date nights at church- I can’t imagine- but for stupid Chris to say “We’ve never had this before”? Every show has started out with the bachelor professing to the girls that he is there looking for the girl he may marry! Of course we’ve always known most of the morons are there for their five minutes of fame hoping to parlay it into something else.

Sounds like Jake went in looking for love but didn’t find anyone.

I dunno, I like hot tub make out crazy. Not spiritual communion. Well, I like that too but not on TV, not on reality TV. I come for the steamy, not the chaste.

Can’t imagine what a different show this year will bring. It sounds exciting. Hope we are not disappointed in the outcome. I hope Jake finds a good partner.

I know Jake is so boring, but at least he has a nice body. Wouldn’t mind seeing his shirtless torso every now and then while flipping channels. I doubt he is really that earnest though.

I love Jake and am soooo happy he is the next Bachelor!!! On a vacation, i was waiting for a connecting flight and was on line to get something to drink. You’ll never believe it but JAKE WAS STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO ME!!! he was so nice and i have an awesome picture!!! IloveyouJake && hope you find someone that deserves you :)

I HATE the commercialism of this, but hope it works for Jake! It keeps sounding like he didn’t pick anyone.???

The only person that ever said Jake was tooo perfect was Jake. He walks a very thin line and the woman he chooses will also have to walk a finer line. Good luck with that.

I sure hope Jake picks Allie, although says it will be Venna (ugh). Allie is the most down to earth, cute, beautiful, spirited, fun lady. There seemed to be chemistry and friendship from their one on one date. I really hope Steve is wrong on this one and he picks Allie. If not, bring Allie back as the next Bacherlotte.

Jake is the real thing. What a man! He has all the attributes and honestly looking for his perfect match in a wife. I do hope Jake shows that he is intelligent, has humor and a great personality.

Jake you need to know that Vienna is not for you!

Right, Gamer, I got the same out of it. He was talking about the guy’s whole demeanor, that he really expected to meet his wife, not just someone who would be similar to his wife.
His WHOLE statement was, “He came in so serious to find somebody – not that the other people aren’t.” He went on to say, “He came in very driven. There were no ifs, and or buts.” You could imagine, if it were you or I, we’d HOPE that our soulmate was in the room of 30(?) similar-thinking people. But wouldn’t you be thinking, “Yes, I’m putting myself out there because I’m ready to settle down and get married, but how do I know if it will be one of these people, even if we get into a relationship?” After all, newness runs off, and you’re back at square one again.
I think he’s saying that this guy was determined to find the best one and make it work, because he’s tired of looking for what his parents have, and he’s ready to find someone who feels the same way, too.
Boy, can you imagine, if these women are truly competing after the same guy, and not just vying for attention… Ooo, I bet there is going to be some serious drama! LOL! (Let’s just hope they remember he’s serious, and he probably doesn’t want a lot of pettiness!) Still, how fun it must be to have the attention of 30 attractive people at one time, begging for you to notice them! A dream come true!

They have to portray Jake as serious and driven to cover up for his humorless and flat personality.
