TV catch up: 'Community' mini-marathon tonight

This evening, NBC is giving Community a four-episode mini-marathon from 8 to 10 p.m. ET. Not every episode of this freshman comedy is a home run, but the cast is so likable, I’m willing to wait for it to hit its stride. (Speaking of that, you can now watch Parks and Recreation‘s entire second season-to-date on Hulu.) If your usual program is in repeats, and chances are that it is, give Community a try tonight. At least at 8:30 p.m. for the Halloween episode…

P.S. I’m finally ready to give The Big Bang Theory a chance, CBS. So feel free to host a mini-marathon of that whenever. I’ll be taping the repeat with guest star Summer Glau tonight at 9:30 p.m. ET.

I love this show too, the fact that it does have homerun episodes (and even when it doesn’t go out of the park, there are the close out bits with Abed and Troy that have required me to change my DVR recording from just the show to 8:00 to 8:31) makes me believe that it is one of those shows that will click on all cynliders next year like the Office or heck like Buffy.

thanks, please keep us posted with other marathons. I’ve been meaning to watch this show but didn’t have space on my dvr during the regular season.

Seeing as how Parks and Recreation is the lowest-rated of all four of NBC’s Thursday night comedies, NBC really should do a mini-marathon of P&R episodes to try and attract some new viewers. Plus, P&R has been so awesome this season. In my opinion, it’s been the most consistently funny of all four comedies.

They are. This week on NBC you can catch mini-marathons of, I believe, all of the Thursday sitcoms.

    • Ha!

      PR is tomorrow night!

Your agenda is evil. Mine is nlrataluy good. Your president is the worst ever, if it’d gone my way things would be peachy. It should be obvious that politics are way more complicated than people like to pretend. They always paint it in a way that if their candidate had won, everything would be perfect.Naive idealism at best.

No matter how many times they put these shows on, they’ll still fail and should all be canceled, including Community and P&R, which are two of the worst shows on TV.

    • Turnip

Thats right Jed. Then maybe we could fill the schedule with more reality shows. I think maybe something high concept like a divorce court/dating show. And maybe we could start Jay at 9 pm three nights a week.

    • Johnification

Jed probably feels that sitcoms haven’t been funny since the 90s. Good thing those shows are on DVD. Enjoy on, Jed!

Two of the worst shows on TV? From that statement I’m assuming you’ve seen all the this year’s episodes as well as every other show on television so I will defer to your exceptional ability to watch everything. Personally, while I find Community only adequate, it is my opinion that Parks and Recreation has turned into a very, very funny show.

  • No to Chris Sligh

I love Alison Brie and her two mini-Brie’s, if ya catch my drift! SHE’S YUMMY. Slurp!

  • Ben

The Halloween episode was the best one of the season.

  • Eric

Community is perfect. The best comedy on TV. Easily.

  • Yes

Community is off to a great start and I think it will only get better. The Thursday night comedies are all great this year – I haven’t been able to say that in a LONG time. It’s too bad they don’t get more viewers, but it is a very competitive night.

I could go for another Glee marathon! I had to draw a picture of Quinn just to hold me over until April! http://hidensneek.com/2009/12/28/glee-is-back/

  • Nose

It’s a funny show. I hope it does well. I didn’t have high hopes for it, but I love Joel McHale, and the rest of the cast is great too.

  • Brad

Community has a very good cast. It reminds me of WKRP in Cincinnati with a touch of Better Off Ted. The pace is good and the dialogue sounds right. Give them time to create good stories and comedic lines and they will be good.

  • Paige

Love this show and caught the marathon last night. Must say the Halloween episode isn’t one of my favorites though (it’s a good episode just not im my top best). I’m a big fan of the Christmas one, that fight was just awesome.

MistyXoXo Posted on Thanks for the post, Clarice. My doctor first spesucted that I might have arthritis, but the hand x-rays came back normal and that’s when he considered Lupus. I hope you get through the winter without too much pain!
