'Sex and the City 2' trailer: 'Fess up! Are you excited for this sequel?

She’s back! Carrie Bradshaw, that is. The first trailer for Sex and the City 2 has been released. As much as something inside me wants to just hate all over the fact that they’re doing another movie, I sort of died in a big ol’ fashiony mess as I watched this teaser. Which, to be honest, reveals almost nothing about what’s gonna happen in this installment besides the fact that the ladies seem to trek themselves to the desert. But I’ll stop blabbing and let you just watch it here:

A few takeaways: 1) The use of Alicia Keys and Jay-Z’s NYC-loving anthem “Empire State of Mind” is perfect for this. I hope they also use it in the movie. 2) There’s entirely too much footage of Charlotte and her baby already. Snooze! (If Carrie similarly gets one of those little beasts, I WILL DIE. And not in a good way.) And 3) I’m living for Carrie’s gold sunglasses and that “J’adore Dior” shirt, which is just like the one Lucy Liu had when she guested on the series as a client of Samantha’s. The crazy turban—not so much living for that.

What do you all think? What are your three takeaways from watching this trailer? Tell me in the comments section below!

So the biggest complaint women had about the first movie was that they spent too much time out of New York. So the producers decide to take them out of New York again? Brilliant

    • Telly B

Ugh. People complain about Twilight, but is this what Hollywood thinks women like? Fashions, fashions, fashions and little else?

Who cares about 4 women talking about sex and fashion, really?

      • it’s true

it’s frivolous but it’s fun. it’s just a movie. there’s a time for movies like Schindler’s List and there’s a time for a movie like this.

    • wd

unless the “out of nyc” portion is limited and you cant gather that from the trailer. most likely its dubai….big will be involved and it might just be towards the end.

    • D-man

who complained they weren’t in ny enough? outside of a brief mexican trip it was all ny. i never heard 1 complaint about that. i did hear some complaints about it being too serious and this one rectifies that from what they are saying. other than that, the last one seemed to make all the fans of the show pretty happy.

  • THIS LOOKS TERRIBLE

that Jay-Z song is already old news. if they use it in a movie for next summer, we should all laugh.

who cares about these people anymore?

    • Ama

      I do.

    • N

      I do.

      • Anna

        I do too

      • ash

        Me too.

    • tiffany

I care, too. Also, that song is brilliant and will stay that way for a very long time.

      • dawnselya

        me too!

    • L2

I do three. I can’t wait to see this, and yes, I need those gold sunglasses. Does anyone know where to get them?

    • Calypso

    • Emma

      I can’t wait!!

  • THIS LOOKS TERRIBLE

that Jay-Z song is already old news. if they use it in a movie for next summer, !!!we should all laugh.

who cares about these people anymore?

    • michka

I do. The one who looks terrible here is YOU.

    • @THIS LOOKS TERRIBLE

Obviously YOU do……..you took the time to post that statement TWICE! And as for your statement that the Jay-Z song is already old news, where do you live BUTTCRACK, KENTUCKY????

      • PC

Hey, don’t make KY look bad because of that statement. KY loves SATC

  • OMG

    “NO.”

  • Stacie

I’ll totally see this. It looks like a lot more fun that the first one. It reminds of the Ab Fab episode in Marrakesh. Do I smell almonds and honey?

    • Erica

      YES!

    • Michelle T

Me too – I was thinking of that AbFab episode!

  • L

The First film was so bad. It made no logical sense in the Sex in the City Universe. It reignited that Cosmo splishsplash ordering frenzy that had started to wilt following syndication, and instead of being a show about women, it became a movie about girls playing dressup. Why is there a sequel? Well money talks, and Did you Hear About the Morgans isn’t going to pay for SJP’s penthouse alone!

  • Jack

I can’t wait besides hard to really decide on this teaser, I think it looks like great fun, you never know how long they will be out of NEW YORK for the film, but it looks more lively than the first film. I think the gals are great and it should be fun.

    • Linda A.

These Sex in the City bashers are simply retarded. Who is holding a gun to their heads to go see the movie are watch reruns of that great show! Maybe they just Don’t get it…

  • Linda

Hasn’t SJP made enough money off the reruns and the first movie? Does she have to subject the world to two more hours of this drivel?

    • Jen

If you don’t think you’d like it, no one’s forcing you to see it. :-)

      • Kate

True story Jen…I get so sick of the haters on here. If you don’t like it don’t comment & definitely don’t read the article/view the trailer! I thought the 1st movie was great & so much fun and have high hopes for the 2nd as well!

      • I know art

There is a difference between being a hater and having a negative opinion of something. Sometimes people don’t agree, or after seeing a trailer, can not like it. You are allowed to not like something and make comments that aren’t just “OMG! I’m such a Charlotte!”

      • KRibbons

        OMG! I’m such a Charlotte!

    • KillMeNow

We should be so lucky for it to run only 2 hours.

      • @the HATER haters

Well since we were asked, “What do you ALL think”?, I think we’ll all continue to comment as we please, whether GOOD or BAD thank you very much. If you don’t like our negative posts then don’t read them or take the time to respond to them.

    • UGH

There’s money and suckers to be had!

      • Princess Poon

Good LORD–its a MOVIE–relax. If I want to spend my money on some mindless fun, that’s MY business. If you don’t like, DON”T GO!

      • ^^^^

I dig your name. I’ve got some mindless fun in mind for you.

  • enzo

Looks like lots of fun- who complained that they spent too much time out of New York? Not anybody i know- Didn’t they spend the last season in paris- ( which was loads of fun ) the real SITC fans are going to love this new flick-

    • jk

To be fair, they only spent the last two episodes of season 6 in Paris, and it was only Carrie – they focused on the other girls in New York as well during those episodes. I agree, though, I don’t remember people complaining about them spending time outside of NYC after the first movie came out.

    • mcg

Well real fans would know that it’s SATC not SITC…
      ;)

    • julie

critics seemes to hate them outside of NYC for some reason, but on the show there were a few really fun episodes when they were out of it, LA, the Hamptons, Suffern, Paris.

I wasn’t thrilled they were making another movie because I thought they were lucky the first one was good (I thought the show ended so perfectly they shouldnt mess with it), but I know I’ll probably love it anyway.

  • jk

I keep wanting to not be excited and begrudge the stars and producers for selling out on the series…but after seeing this teaser I am truly excited. Biggest takeaway that I can’t believe no one else mentioned: that shot of Carrie looking into her closet was in the old apartment! Still painted blue from the post-Big leaving her at the alter debacle. I wonder what that means? I loved the new apartment from the first film so I hope it’s not totally MIA in the sequel.

    • Amy

I noticed that shot of Carrie’s closet, too, and wondered what that was about. There’s also a quick shot towards the end of the trailer that looks like Carrie on the phone in her apartment looking out the window to Big in a car out front. I’m curious to see what the deal is.

And I totally agree about *wanting* to not be excited for the movie, but I can’t help it. I get sucked into all things SATC.

      • crispy

He sold the new apartment at the end of the movie… or didn’t close on it or something. They just met their to reconcile. It didn’t imply that they were moving into it.

      • crispy

        their=there

      • ard162

Maybe she stays there sometime…like he travels alot for work (wishful thinking, they just cant break up AGAIN)

  • bruno

uhhh, the desert, carrie’s weird turban and kim cattral’s got her slut on.

  • Clayton

I was more excited before seeing the trailer. Doesn’t look as good as the first

    • Wills

      I agree…love the fashion though!

  • SKIP IT

    SKIP IT !!

  • erin

Excited. Super. I just hope they came up with an even better story. Woohoo!

  • Zippy

I’m asking Santa to make this such a huge flop and that it would lose so much money that we NEVER EVER have to see these skanky, old, dried-up ugly-whores EVER EVER again!

    • levelheaded

You don’t ‘HAVE’ to now. It’s called an internet browser, a remote control channel changer and a don’t pay to go to/rent/buy the movie.

      … And scene.
