Last night found American Idol fourth-place finisher Allison Iraheta performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The rocker did her hot, screw-you single “Friday I’ll Be Over U,” and I must say, she’s really coming into her own as a performer. See for yourself here:
I feel like people will continue to sort of compare her to P!nk, but whatever. This girl’s got style, a cool look, a good voice, and crazy-fun hair. And I feel like her signature “Oh yeah!” screams are especially good here.
What do you think, PopWatchers? Are you impressed with Allison’s performance? Is “Friday I’ll Be Over U” in your iPod rotation?

Allison was amazing last night. The girl can sing!
Sara, are you sure you were watching the same Allison that I was, I have to say, she can not sing..she is horrible. maybe the tweens will like her.
i know she doesnt sound THAT good here but listen to her album, its too good. she sounds amazing!!!
Even if people DO compare her to P!nk, I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing (a compliment, actually!)
We can always use another few bad a*s pop-rocker chicks….Allison does a great job!
Nothing like Pink. Go Allison!
She’s great. It looks like she put on some weight, and that sucks because “pop singers” are so scrutinized for their weight. I know Kelly Clarkson recently said that she doesn’t care, but having lost 75 pounds myself a while back, it could’t hurt them to “tighten” up so people talk about their music and not their bodies. Truly sad that it is a fact, but it is. I hope that Allison ONLY gets judged on her singing and not her build as she’s just 17, but it really wouldn’t be right if she was 27. As for me, I couldn’t care if she and Kelly each weighed 300 pounds, I think they’re great! I just know that in the business that they’re in, that they’re gonna get nasty remarks. It shouldn’t matter though. She’s awesome! Go Allison!
“but having lost 75 pounds myself a while back, it could’t hurt them to “tighten” up so people talk about their music and not their bodies” and “As for me, I couldn’t care if she and Kelly each weighed 300 pounds, I think they’re great!” contradict eachother. Their weight obviously bohters you, otherwise you wouldn’t have posted about it in the first place.
No, it’s an honest assessment of the pop music world. I personally think she looks great, but pop critics are brutal. SO while I think she looks fine as is, if she (and Kelly) lost a few pounds (I’m not suggesting that they need to be a size 0) they could avoid all the stupid comments that they’ll get about their weight. Kelly gets them CONSTANTLY, and Allison will too which is totally sad.
Your remarks are the same nasty remarks you mention.
See above. 5-10 pounds would probably keep the critics from making their snide remarks and just focus on their voices, not their dress sizes.
WHAT? Allison is skinny, dude. She just has boobs and an ass. I hope she doesn’t lose them either! She is not as chunky as Kelly. Nowhere near it.
I’m not too worried about Allison in this regard. I don’t think she’ll be bombarded with this kind of comment.
Fat face and wide nose..UGH
I think it’s just her dress here. If you watched her on Ellen just a little while back, she looked pretty thin. But anyways, this is the best vocal she’s done on FIBOU to date. And she’s gorgeous too. <3 Go Alli!
Tom212,
If you cannot contribute to the discussion what are you doing in this site.
At least she got the courage to put her pretty face and her amazing voice for us enjoys it.
Can you do that? I don’t think so.
Get a life and go back to your parent basement and keep your stupid comments for yourself.
I LOVE HER!
very good! she can sing alright! and i agree, being compaired to pink, no a bad thing. better than avril lavigne, which i heard too. she’s gonna keep kicking ass i think!
I adore Adam Lambert, but this song crushes “For Your Entertainment.” Watch this girl — she could be the Daughtry of the 2009 Idol class.
I agree! I think she has the best album out of the three (Adam, Kris, and Allison). She is the only one doing better than they did on AI.
This is one of the worst songs on an otherwise awesome CD.
I wish they would move on from this single and act like this song and Robot Love did not even exist.
Agreed.
I love “D is for Dangerous” and “Don’t Waste the Pretty”
Just because there are better songs doesn’t make this one bad. It’s not a bad song at all and it rocks live.
I actually start the disc at number 9, and work through from there. By the time Friday I’ll Be Over You works it’s way around I’m actually ready for it’s fun poppy sound.
She reminds me more of Divinyls singer Christina Amphlett than Pink.
She’s a great mixture of both. The Divinyls’ singer didn’t quite have the raspiness that Allison and P!nk have, but Allison does resemble her.
YES!!! The Divinyls were an awesome group and Christina was one of the most underrated singers in pop history. Allison has the talent and charisma to become one of the all-time female greats in rock. Some people don’t realize just how soulful and musically spot on this amazing girl is! As a singer, the choices she makes are light years beyond her age and anyone out there her age.
Always good to see some Aussie love…
Just Like U is her best song!!! I hope it is released as a single. She rocks!
I totally agree — love that song! Hope that’s released next. Regarding this performance, I think she was awesome and had tons of confidence and charisma, and I love how ALL of her band members sing backup. Ok, song is a tad ‘tweeny’ but she makes every song she sings sound great.
I love her, but (and I hate to say this) the song is just mediocre. We’ve heard it before. I downloaded her CD, and she’s incredible, but the songs are blah. She looks fantastic here and I love the energy, but she needs better songs!
Her album songs are quite good thank you very much.
There is not one “blah” song on her CD. Just Like You kicks a*s from beginning to end. Of course, some kicks are harder than others.
I am totally impressed as always, but not surprised…this girl never ceases to amaze me! I love her and her band live, I only hope I get to her front row when she tours!
Allison rockin’ out the performance as always. If you haven’t picked up her album Just Like You yet, go do it now.
When Allison gets to perform live she really shines. This is probably my least favorite song on the album, but she definitely rocks it live. I hope a new single comes out soon as well as those awesome AOL Live Sessions! Those will really stun people.
i love allison and have loved her from the moment she sang “alone”. but i really think it was a mistake to release friday as a first single, and a mistake for her to be performing this song whenever shes on a show to promote her album. she has much stronger songs on her album, ones that show off her amazing voice better and also more suits her rocker style. i dont think this song really wins her new fans. she shouldve sang another song, maybe holiday. (her performance of holiday on her aol sessions was just amazing.)
Excellent performance. I love the song and her album.
Leo, so agree with both you and Lauren, of ALL the songs on her CD, this is my least favorite, and on youtube, I am begging her NOT to do this song on the New Year Eve show, anything but. All of her songs but this one keep going ’round and round’ in my head. I really like them all, but in particular, Scars, Just Like You, Trouble Is and You Don’t know me. Oh and No One else and Holiday…but I am really impressed with the entire album, do not understand why she’s not getting airplay and more props. am truly confused. BTW, she does NOT NOT NOT need to lose any weight at all. She’s perfect as she is.
