Wednesday night, Adam Lambert chatted about acid-tripping on Chelsea Lately, participated in a random mistletoe fail cameo on The Jay Leno Show, and sang “Whataya Want From Me” on his home planet/channel, Fox! Sadly, EW.com’s Idoloonie-in-chief Michael Slezak spent Adam’s banner night in some other country, likely hoping his iPod battery doesn’t run out so he can finish out his “Sweatin’ to the Idols Vol. 29″ playlist while floating around on a lily pad. So I feel it’s my duty to make this announcement: Adam Lambert’s performance on the season 6 finale of So You Think You Can Dance was geeeeeeenius.
Back to basics, you know? I lost some love for Adam after his fun, sexy time at the AMAs not because of the sexual stuff (hi, I just made my porn debut with Ausiello) but because he was acting like a hyperactive Super Mario in one of the underground brick worlds when all he really needed to do was sing well. The SYTYCD stage was just right for baby bear, setting-wise. In smaller TV studios, it’s probably more difficult to truly belt it out without looking like a total loon; plus, I always get paranoid that particularly high-energy humans are constantly about to crash into the machines. Give the man with the burnt toilet paper shoulder pad his space!
I’m not a Lambert expert: Are his heels usually this intense, or does the spats motif make them seem higher? Maybe Adam thought he needed an extra boost because he was up against J.Lo and her ridiculous song title. Speaking of which, honey, no one believes you’re about to throw on your Louboutins when you’re already wearing them.

I have watched everything Adam has been on…obviously, I’m a huge fan…but I’m really getting tired of What do you Want From Me? I wish he could sing a different song from his album on each show, even though he does it a little bit different every time. Either way, I won’t miss a single performance if I can help it…I’m way hooked!
The producers will try to do one released single at a time to climb the Top 10 charts. Once an artists gets his/her song in the top 10 then they release another song from their CD. It also goes by weeks. If the song doesn’t do well then they move on. So far Adam’s performed FYE, Music Again and Whattaya Want From Me. The more these songs are played on radio the better he’ll score in sales. More single Itune songs are purchased when heard on radio. Please call your radio station and request these songs.

The finale drew higher ratings than the season average and ratings were up from last week, so Adam’s appearance did help SYTYCD rebound from the lower ratings of this season.
However, the finale was rated lower than previous season finale’s of SYTYCD, finales that were held, like their seasons, during the summer ratings when the show had less competition from Holiday shows and plans.
Obviously SYTYCD viewers have been less likely to tune in for this particular season, the first time it’s been broadcast for this time of the year and the first time the finale has been limited to one hour instead of two. (Its likely the show will return to its summer format next year) But Adam helped bring some of the old faithful back it seems.
The show was only up 2% from last week according to what people posted, so your point was moot (that Adam brought in people to the finale)
And as for the summer vs. winter – August HUTs are *MUCH* lower than December HUTs, so the December finale did in fact underperform substantially. Again, your summer vs. winter point is also moot.
Clay Aiken didn’t put out good music and he didn’t know how to promote himself either. Then he had to go and shoot himself in the foot by pissing off powers that be (19E) by divorcing them and teaching Kelly Clarkson how to do the same. Don’t blame the fans.
This I can say. I never watch SYTYCD. However, I watched it last night only to see Adam perform.

To the person who responded to me, according to information on varuious sites on the ‘Net about SYTYCD, the show has been the number 1 summer show for all but one of its summer seasons, although it has faced some competition from America’s Got Talent. Ratings as a whole were down this season, where it has placed around fourth place in ratings overall. Summer, it would seem, provides less distractions for the SYTYCD faithful, of which I am not one.
A two percent ratings increase is still a ratings increase. It was also up seven percent from its prior season average according to rbr.com.

I was interested to see an article posted on the web which stated that the Chelsea Lately Show, which featured Adam, had over 1.3 million viewers, more than twice her daily average. Hope the ABC business execs with the shriveled balls are paying attention. Lots of people want to see Adam.
This is really sad.. so much jealousy about Adam.. must be a Kris Allen fan (or something), but I for one missed this season’s SYTYCD whereas I used to watch it pretty consistently. But, the moment I found out Adam was there to perform, I tuned in. I truly believe that a lot of Adam fans help increase ratings compared to recent episodes NOT past seasons.
He’s phenomenal and here to stay. As far as Clay Aiken.. I was once a ‘claymate’ and I’ll always like his voice, but Adam is purely in a fabulous league of his own! So to those haters out there.. really, if you hate him so much, why would you bother posting about it without making other readers not noticing your insecurities? Why aren’t you comparing yourself now and yourself 20 years ago?
It is not fair cos you need to consider other factors.
Now you may be fat and ugly while in the past you are slim and pretty. Factors like age, childbirth, stress level play a part.
So, it will not be fair to compare the ratings of this season of SYTYCD to last few seaons cos over the years, it lost novelty and hence, fewer viewership.
You need to get your facts correct first. SYTYCD stats show this: “While So You Think You Can Dance was the top demo rated show of the night, it was still down 11% from last week (2.8 > 2.5).” But you have to wait until 23 Dec for the Tivo and recorded data comes into the count because it takes a week to compile that data and that has show to increase the score by .9 each week on avg for that show. If you do that it will exceed the regularly viewed numbers.

I Love you Adam!! Every time he performs the same song, he does it differently. He is an amazing talent, and he does not need tons of eyeliner or “thingy’s” on his shoulder, but that is part of his act. He just needs to sing and perform. I hope that he will continue to share his talent with the world audience, and give us a variety of music-even some “Mad World” type songs as well. Adam –you are wonderful!!

Stacie, agree with you about JLo and Leona. We’ve seen enough of JLo for the last 15 years or so; she’s not so great that she deserves this longevity. Leona is OK, but there’re so many female singers, they’re all starting to blend into one another. Adam is one unique & sexy guy entertainer we’ve been waiting for.
Leona Lewis was really off her game or the sound was bounced funny…something was bad. She definately didn’t sound like the song on the soundtrack. I had to walk out of the room near the end I couldn’t take that song anymore.

I think Adam is doing very well considering that he has had no airplay. He is getting himself out there, and his fans are helping. Lady Gaga started out end of 2007, Sep-Octish. Her year 2008 was going much better and by the end of 2008 she started having hits. But it took her almost 12 months to get there. So she is not a break out artist anymore. 2009 came around and she really started to milk the music industry. So yes, Adam is ahead of the game and his name is very well known so early in his debut as an artists. Look at how many writers/producers want to work with him.
Do you follow music? It sometimes takes months to reach #1. This brilliant performer is attracting a lot of attention because people in the industry obviously know what a gem they have found.
With all the promotion he has had? More than any other Idol, almost any other singer this year, and he can’t have a top 10 single? That is a FAIL. I don’t care about excuses, I haven’t heard him on the radio yet. Seriously, step outside the Idol bubble, and you’ll see how fast his star is fading. This issue has already been well-discussed by actual professionals, and the bottom line was the album was doing quite well for a first album, and for all intents and purposes, What Do You Want From Me will probably be considered by most to be his first real single. (And like most arists today with anticipated album, they throw out a teaser second-string song as an appetizer to whet interest for the real single.) The real question will be what happens when Adam TOURS – that will determine if he is successful in this day and age. And I think a great many people will shell out to see Lambert live.
Tarc – where is Adam’s tour? Where can I see the set of dates of where he’ll be performing….oh wait….he’s NOT on tour. So right now, all you’re making is predictions without any credible info or sources about how “successful” YOU think Adam is going to be on tour.
At this point, record sales & single sales ARE RCA’s main source of money and recouping their
promotional costs.
And I don’t know how you think Adam’s record is doing well, because it’s opening weeks was one of the lowest for a top 2 Idol (on a debut item). That, coupled with his ALREADY DOCUMENTED sagging sales (which will collapse completely once January rolls around and his promo dry up) means he’ll barely make Gold, if that.

Have you been in outer space. Adam is doing great .. His single FYE is #1 on Itunes,#1 in Israel and canada. He’s everywhere.. TV,radio,magazines.. You’re kidding right?

And for the record, Adam’s album is #55 in Canada as of 10:30am this morning.
Look under pop artists. He is doing fantastic and it isn’t about being an Adam fan. When you are this controversial it just takes time to get going but Adam is definately doing very well. The pace will acutally give him longevity just wait and see. His video is also rising fast on VH1. #16 last week and probably int he top 5 this week. His pronoters know what they are doing and as much as you loosers hope for another failure to watch – you won’t get it with Adam.

WWFM has been out for, what, three weeks? And it’s in the Top 40 rolling charts this week. It rises every day.
His album is close to making gold.

Ben- His first two singles are not doing poorly. For whatever reason ( no one really knows) the radio stations did not play FYE but are fully embracing WWFM. It just debuted @#40 on Billboard, so it will take time. Most songs in the top ten on Itues take a good 3 months to make it there. Adam has a lot going against him. The media loves him yes, but homophobia is very much alive and kicking. All you have to do is take a look at the messgae boards everywhere after the AMA’s to see the hate directed at him. He lost alot of idol fans, I am sure, BUT that is only going to be a good thing in the long run. Everyone is starting to take notice of him now, and I couldn’t be happier. That performance alone already boosted his album and singles sales. Oh, and the video for FYE? NUMBER ONE on Itunes.I don’t know if anyone remembers this but after the season was over, Adam had half of the videos in the top 20 on Itunes. He is just a dynamic performer, and I would be willing to bet his tour is going to be the most successful for him.

That same ‘performance’ was performed by Iggy Pop and David Bowie on stage,live, in the mid early ’80′s.There were 2500 complaints from 48,000,000 million viewers. That wasn’t the problem, it’s the media homophobies with obviouw agenda and some with hidden agenda to bring him down. It will not work. The younger men under age 45 are more enlighted and educated about sexuality and not threatened by Adam’s sexual orientation. Besides, his CD is really good. And he just got voted #1 Artist Of The Year by the Rolling Stone readers- this is after the AMA performance. Even the straight smart successful ladies of The View are supporting him, saying the daytime soaps are far more sexual and kids area home. And the time slot of Adam’s performance is cleary in adult time on tv. They find the hoopla about his performance laughable and so do I. Every article about Adam gets attention-his fans are obsessed and his bashers are obsessed -no one can ignore Adam. As I said; Helen Keller stated”Life is an adventure or nothing” and Adam is living his dream and we fans and bashers are all spectators.

Yeah Dan I don’t get you either. If you were really gay how were you disgusted with his performance? It was hot, it was edgy and it had edge. Plus that performance art piece was real and current. I gained more respect for him as an artist, I didn’t loose him once due to his art. His set was just as adult entertainment as any of the other artists. So again as a gay man how did you get upset with Adam’s piece?!
His single WYWFM will probably rise on the charts and his video for FYE is #1 on iTunes and is getting there on VH1. Adam is doing just fine, it took Gaga a year to release all 4 of her singles and they all finally charted at #1. If Adam can get a few singles to chart in the top 20 he is one his way. His Cd is no.1 in a lot of countries. His itunes video FYE, which is BTW the best vid in year is no.1 on itunes. This is just the beginning for this out of this world entertainer !!
I just downloaded the FTE video and I couldn’t help but think how much it resembles Michael Jackson’s videos in his heyday. Well done, Adam!
His album isn’t falling anymore. it has risen several spots since last night on iTunes, as have his singles FYE and WWFM. Now that people are getting beyond their fear of the AMA performance, they are able to concentrate on what really matters, the music. And whether you like Adam or not, if you are honest you cannot deny the man has a fantastic voice.
Yeah, Adam separates the men from the boys, Guys who are secure in their sexuality aren’t scared of Adam, those who aren’t are terrified by Adam. The homophobes who are bisexual and deny that part of themselves that are attracted to someone same sex-dosen’t make you gay just like waking up w a mr happy -it just happens cuz we’re human.
I love Adam. He has an amazing voice, but that stuff on his shoulder looked like dog doo. What purpose did that serve? Everything else about him was perfect, as usual.

I read in an article that the shoulder decoration was Lisa’s (his band member) hair decoration in the AMA performance. There was a clip from that performance side by side and it appears to, indeed, be the same item. We can all use our imaginations as to whether or not he is sending ABC decision-makers a message!

I love this guy. Love his music and love his ability to be himself even in the face of blind, ignorant irrational hatred, and prejudice. He’s the kind of artist that makes following music fun unlike 99% of pop music out there which is so boring, bland and bad that it makes my eyes roll back in my head and my hand instinctively change the radio station. Hope this guy gets a real chance because he’s got real talent.

Well he is on vacation until 21 Dec that is when he does Jay Leno on CBS. Then he will be on vacation a couple days until he starts rehearsals for the NYE concert in California. Check it out he is going to meet Pamela Anderson!
