Lady Gaga at the Jingle Bell Ball: Leather bikinis and reindeer headgear

Lady Gaga took the stage Saturday at Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball in London and never one to disappoint in the shocking, often pants-less, fashion department, Gaga performed her six-song set wearing a red leather bikini, fishnet tights, black lace-up boots and her trusted disco stick.

I’m not used to seeing that much midriff from the singer, but that’s because when I think Lady Gaga, I think face masks and frog coats. But this isn’t the first time the singer has appeared on stage in next to nothing, which makes me think that perhaps Gaga, the leader of the uncomfortable fashion revolution, actually considers practicality — sometimes — when she performs. How else would she be able to move like this if she were wearing her bubble dress or that spherical number she wore at the piano on Saturday Night Live?

Red leather is scary, but is it shocking? Not really. We’ve come to expect a lot from Gaga, and this didn’t really meet my expectations. Thankfully, though, her post-show get-up answered my couture prayers.

When leaving the show, Gaga donned a transparent plastic dress with very on-trend sharp shoulders and — wait for it — reindeer antlers (photo after the jump). To me she looks like a mixture of someone from The Jetsons, a creature from Pan’s Labryinth and the essence of holiday spirit. How does she look to you?

She’s so fun. I love her!

    • Sara

I agree.. I can’t wait until she puts out an amazing ballad that really shows off her amazing voice and opens her up to a wider audience, like Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful” did for her.

      • LA

She has, and it’s really beautiful. Check out “Speechless” which is off of “The Fame Monster.” It’s streaming on YouTube. She wrote it to convince her dad to get open-heart surgery.

    • Nick T

She is fun! And that dress is amazing!

  • A.J. Simon

She is nothing but a no talent slut. It is a stretch to call her a musician, she is a cheap act. It is my experience that women with ugly faces, like her, tend to work hard on their body and shamelessly show it off because they have nothing else to offer. This can work while you are in your 20s but after that its just going to be her and her ugly face.

    • ES

sounds like someone’s a little jealous…she just having fun with fashion.plus she can get away with it because she is in her 20s.

    • BF

Pretty sure the last time I checked there are tons of artists not in their 20′s getting away with odd outfits. Madonna on tour anyone? Being an entertainer means pushing the boundaries, not pleasing everyone.

      • A.J. Simon

Who other than Europeans and those stuck in the 80s actually believe Madonna has talent?

      • coolhive

Umm, how about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Grammy Awards and the Golden Globes, and the Oscars, etc. etc. Do your homework before you slam someone’s talent. What’s your talent? Insulting people? Troll.

      • Agustin

No one does it like Madonna. PERIOD. (I love Gaga, by the way…!)

      • RyRyNYC

        A.J. is a prime example of a dumb @sshole

    • MindB

She’s been playing piano since she was four. And underneath all of that makeup, she’s actually quite beautiful. And A.J., you do what exactly? Oh yes, get on a discussion board and berate people. Yay, you contribute so much to society!

      • gen

        preach!

    • e.a.y.

why the hostility? why is it necessary to use such an awful and derogatory word like “slut,” which has no reflection on her talent? and why is it necessary to insult her appearance? you’re an angry and shallow, nasty person if this is how you go through life. she can really sing, she writes her songs, she has a unique and all-encompassing artistic vision. she is an absolute performer, and i love her.

    • Lei

Sounds like Mr. Grumpus got up on the wrong side of the bed.

    • Ambee

What makes her a slut? Revealing clothes? Because I think it may actually be something else…

    • AJ

Well you must be one to know one!!!!!

Gaga has more class and talent in her pinky than you!!

    • Sara

Anyone claiming Lady Gaga has no talent clearly isn’t familiar with anything past her gimmicks.

    • Brian C.

Sounds like someone had the case of the Mondays…

    • ashley

Wow…someone is a bit resentful! If you’ve ever heard her live you’d know she is full of talent. and the cheap shot about her appearance?! low. very low. I suppose that’s why britney never wears anything revealing…. 0_0

    • MultiPass

well we can’t all be pretty and talented like you, betch

    • A.

Really? Have you ever actually seen her perform or listened to her voice? She has amazing talent, a beautiful, strong voice, can play piano to beat the band, and is interesting. To make comments about her being a “slut” – are you joking me? How presumptuous and incredibly ignorant. What is your idea of talent? I’d LOVE to know.

    • Kim

what the hell? She is a musician you ignorant fool.

      • Sarah

you ignorant fool? hahaha i love that, Ms. Gaga is amazing she is really out there, which I admire. :)

    • ernie

Last time I checked, she could sing live, dance, write songs, and has been playing the piano since age four, not to mention she almost went to Julliard. No talent? You’re crazy.

    • Musician

Have you ever heard her sing a capella? she’s actually quite talented.

  • A.J. Simon

I suppose you love Taylor Swift and Rhiana as well, right? You are easily entertained.

    • SH

hmmm im just wondering but who exactly DO you like AJ? Because odds are some people won’t like your taste in music either.

    • A.J. Simon

Renee Olstead is a great Jazz artist who only needs her incredible voice to show she has talent – no gimmicks or dance moves or slutty outfits to draw attention. Also, any of the people working with David Foster are true Musicians.

    • SH

Thats cool, I was just wondering. Its too bad not many people listen to jazz including myself. There are a lot of talented people in that genre. I was just hoping you weren’t going to end up naming some other pop singer after bashing others.

    • Sean S.

      A.J,
While I love Olstead, Bocelli, Brightman, Coldplay, Springsteen and other great stylists or performers, I also believe in artists like Lady Gaga. Each generation has it’s “acts” that use that talents for pure entertainment and to push the boundaries of what is acceptable. For every John Lennon, there is an Elvis Presley. For every Aretha Franklin, there is a Diana Ross. For every Whitney Houston, there is a Madonna and for every Renee Olstead…sorry….but there is a Lady Gaga.

    • Krissy

I find it so funny when people belittle others based on their taste in entertainment. It says so much that has nothing to do with Lady Gaga.

    • Butterflies and rainbows

AJ- seek therapy, there is obviously something inside you that is unhappy and you lash out at people that just want to post a few harmless comments about a singer they like. Not only do you not like that person, but you’ve put down everyone else, too. This sort of anger is not healthy for you or the people who just want to read an article and kick back a little. You are toxic, find the reason why and fix it.

    • Zoey

Sean S. – Very true! But it doesn’t mean all the latter singers can’t sing. Their lyrics aren’t as…profound (ie, “Imagine” compared to “LoveGame”. Sorry, blanked on Elvis songs.), but their voices are still great.

    • coolhive

Hey AJ, again, not doing your homework. Madonna, whom you just slammed, worked with David Foster. Her smash hit “You’ll See” was co-written and produced by Foster. It showcases the best vocals of her career. Does that change your answer?

  • Michael

    Love Love Love Gaga!

  • Ed In NJ

Lady Gaga is the best. Love her

  • gerritv

Too bad the cranky half of Simon & Simon is so vitriolic in his hatred of Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Rhianna – it must take a lot of enjoyment out of his life. Makes one wonder why he would bother reading this article at all.

By the way, it looks like Gaga’s sporting a cameltoe in that red ‘leather’ (looks neoprene to me) outfit.

    • saintofE69th

you are correct sir! the greatest cameltoe of all-time? maybe…looks like something parted the red sea there…hmm

  • TT2

I love that she isn’t afraid to fly her freak flag. She rocks!

  • coco

LOVE Lady Gaga! Stop hating on her. She has talent, personality, drive and provides entertainment every single time!

  • Alex

She is the most fascinating and talented person to ever live! Her feces cure cancer! She is a God!
Bow down, because criticism means you just sit down and say nasty things…but blindly following means you are on the money, honey!

    • Nick T

      “Her feces cure cancer”
      That’s funny. She’s awesome.

  • Sara

I love Lady Gaga, and geez she is skinny!!!
I kind of want her and Eminem to get together… don’t you think they’d be the pop princess and the #1 rapper.. he takes things seriously, she doesn’t, they’re both smart and have heads on their shoulders. Plus they’d be sexy together.

  • mari

    alllll style no substance

    • Iel

But it’s the style that makes her amazing! Most entertainers can sing (and she’s got a great voice), but not everyone can give you a fantastic, out-there show.

      • mari

oh she can put on a show no doubt. its just all her fans and every interview i’ve ever seen with her she acts as if she is soo inovative and creative.
when really, girl just knows how to work an image. take away the crazy fashion and the stage antics, and all you are left with is tired beats and juvenile lyrics.

    • MultiPass

Yes, unlike you, sweetie. You’re just SOOOOO above it all and substantive and interesting. …all while reading ew.com and commenting in the middle of the day on an obscure Lady Gaga article. Must be tough being so intellectual and relevant.
      :-P

      • mari

well i just saw this article again on here and saw a oh so intelligent reply to my comment..and just can’t resist repyling back
        1. i never claimed to be substantive and interesting. i’m quite boring.
        2. its gaga and her delusional fans that try hard to be intellectual and relevant. tell me, exactly, what is so intellectual and substantive about lyrics like “let’s have some fun this beat is sick/ i wanna take a ride on your disco stick.” or “wish i could shut my mouth/ how’d i turn my shirt inside out”
        3. i’m not sure why the time of day i comment at is important? is there a certain time when comments are more effective?

i realize your a gaga fan and have a desire to defend her, but i made a good point and insulting me doesn’t lessen it. it just makes you look like an over eager fan who can’t handle it when someone doesn’t like what they like.

  • Krissy

I think Lady Gaga is great! She is so entertaining and fearless! Her unconventional performances are a breath of fresh air. The pop scene has been sooooo boring the past decade, with the same old people doing the same old poses. I love how her sense of humor, passion, and wit comes across in her music. She has a lot of talent, and the people that underestimate her will be surprised by what she has to offer. This is not a one trick pony by any means. In a way, she reminds me of Elton John. A musician who can wear crazy outfits and make fun music, but at the end of the day they are a strong musician and song writer with no limits.

  • Chaney

    I’m obsessed with Lady G !!!!!!!!!!!

  • laurie

That is not a flattering angle. No disrespect though. Her confidence is bada**.

  • Chandra Leigh

    Dear Gaga haters,

Tisch School of the Arts is not in the habit of giving early acceptance to just anyone :P
