'Howl': Who wants a new TV show about werewolves?

Oh, good. We definitely need another TV show about werewolves. MTV’s proposed Teen Wolf remake series was not cutting it for me. Now, Fox is developing Howl, a saga about warring families of werewolves in a small Alaska town. It is presumably not about beatnik werewolves, the best minds of our generation. Does this mean Fox is on Team Jacob? OMG LOL. Actually, Fox did air a series called Werewolf (starring Chuck Connors, pictured) from 1987-88. Thanks to reader Jeff for Werewolf‘s complete unofficial site, which is completely terrifying because when you drag your cursor over the menu options, someone…or someTHING’s heart pounds.

According to screenwriter Joshua Miller, “Howl is about the psychology of living with change.” Perhaps it will offer tips on how to maintain the will to live while a large percentage of the population freaks out about vampires and werewolves. My preliminary casting wishes include Tracy Jordan, Jerry Seinfeld with a shaved chest, not Mario Lopez (who has Wolf Pack envy), Lucille Bluth after she got plastic surgery, and recently blonde Sandra Bullock. Oh, and Jason Bateman, Too. Vote below.

John J. York (Uncle Mac on General Hospital) was actually the star of “Werewolf” not Chuck Connors. Chuck was only on 8 episodes.

Why are people voting no? Personally, I’d have to see the finished product before I judged. There’s tons of vampire shows why not werewolves?

To be fair, I’m sick of the vampire shows, too, though I’ll make an exception for BBC’s Being Human.

I totally agree with you. I’m a little sick of all of it too, but I will watch and enjoy those kinds of stories if they are well done. Being Human does a better job with vampires/werewolves/ghosts than lots of other shows. This show deserves to be a hit in America and probably would be if it could air on a major network. Their werewolf is great and one you can sympathize with and their vampire is incredibly hot and Irish, so that beats Edward Cullen for me any day.

I read about this earlier this morning and thought it sounded interesting.

seriously??? do we really need this crap??? i mean im a twilight fan(not a twi-hard) but this is too much(vampire diaries was too much) dont producers and executives realize that if you push the same thing on people over and over again(like vampires and werewolves) people are gonna get tired????

Is it become cool to hate genre stuff now? I’m all for some werewolves. I don’t need any Vamps, haven’t done so since True Blood started but I think this might have potential. It’s a pretty awesome show title, as well.

I had a spooky scary time at the Werewolf Bar Mitzvah! …great, now I’ll have that song stuck in my head. Heh.

As long at they’re not whiny, emo teen werewolves, “Howl” just might be interesting.

    • cas

Good point. I think it’s the “whiny, emo teen” aspect of the recent vamp/wolf fare that I find annoying. Well, that and the sheer volume of it.

Your welcome! I got tired of the old series, though, and I steer clear of Twilight. The werewolf in Harry Potter disappointed me when he turned out not to be Sirius Black’s boyfriend. I doubt I’ll watch this new series.

      what???

I just don’t like werewolves. Well, unless their names are Remus Lupin or Oz from Buffy. I like them. But other than that? Nope, not for me.

I guess Fox needs another show for it Friday night death slot. If Fox does place this show on Friday’s, is there any point in getting invested in a new show that probably won’t last?

  • Abby

I’d like to see it, depending on the actors, creator and writers involved. I love the Vampire Diaries and wasn’t a fan of vampires.

What is Fox trying to do? Compete The Vampire Diaries <3333? Bring it on!
But please spare us with body building demonstrations, ugh.

Stop running everything into the f’n ground 19 cop shows,12 medical shows, how many dance shows only god knows just quit already geez.

I liked this show when it was ALREADY MADE several years ago and called “Wolf Lake”. Being a fan of Paul Wesley on that show made me tune into my current fave show of the season – Vampire Diaries. That said, cast dependent, I may check this one out.

I think Tami Farrell would be a fantastic casting for this show. She was supposedly up for Melrose Place, but the role went to Ashlee Simpson instead. However, i believe this one would be great. Besides, Ashlees already been ousted.
