USA Today has the first official image from the two-part adaptation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It’s a simple yet surprisingly unsettling shot of Harry, Ron, and Hermione wearing street clothes and concerned looks as they journey toward the final showdown with Lord Voldemort. As director David Yates explained, “It’s going to feel very real. We’re going for a vérité approach. Being away from Hogwarts, they’re like these three refugees on the run. They’re out in the big bad world, facing real danger, unguarded by those wonderful benign wizards at Hogwarts. They don’t have a home to go to. We’re kind of pulling away from the magic a bit and bringing more reality to it.” (That reality includes not having time to shave. “Me and Dan actually have some stubble,” Rupert Grint told USA Today, grinning.)
Is it just me being unable to separate this shot from the image of another walk Harry takes in Deathly Hallows — that forest scene was so vivid in the book, I feel like I’ve already seen it on film) or is staring at this photo making you tense and totally excited for November 2010, too?

Ooohhh…I’m not going to be able to handle 11 months of teasers…bring on the movied NOW!!!
My question is, is this really being released in Nov. 2010? Or is going to be pushed back like Half Blood Prince was? Because, I honestly don’t think I could handle that again.
I doubt this one will be pushed back. They did that with Half-Blood Prince so it could have a summer release, and because they chose to not release it in the same year as The Dark Knight.
They won’t do that this time because Part 2 is getting a summer release. I believe it’s being released in May 2011, about 6 months after Part 1. I doubt they would push back two films like that.
HA!
if anything my friend it will be pushed forward!
No, it’s definitely out next November. The only reason Prince got pushed to the summer was because WB wanted to take advantage of the summer box office (it paid off, it seems, to the tune of $930 million worldwide).
They also didn’t really NEED Prince’s revenue in 2008 because Batman did so well. They could rest on that money for 2008 and have Prince bolster their 2009 revenue.
And Dave, DHII is out in July, not May. They’re doing the same “third weekend in July” thing they did for Phoenix, Batman, Prince and Inception this summer.
It WONT be pushed back or WB will have serious uprising on their hands. But at the same time I don’t think I would be that upset because I don’t want HP to end. But they’ve been filming the movie since February 2009 and they won’t finish until April 2010 so that’s plenty of time for them to have it ready by November. I know some people were wondering if WB would actually move the film up to July 2010 since they don’t have a big movie to release over the summer! Either way I’m so EXCITED!!!!
Celia, they DO have a big movie release this summer. It’s called Inception.
I meant a big film that’s a guaranteed money maker like Harry Potter or Batman.
I think I might actually cry when this is all over, I have been an avid Harry Potter fan since the first book came out in 1998 (it might have been a year later/earlier)and will truly miss all the excitement that this series stirs up!
though I loved Order of the Phoenix, I was very dissapointed with Half Blood Prince. I don’t mind scenes being left out of a movie from the book, but when you add things that never happened in the books, well that ruins it for me. In my opinion Prisoner of Azkaban and Halfblood Prince have been the worst movies. They are the prettiest from a cinematography standpoint, but deviating from the story really ruined it for me. I think Mr. Colombus did the best job translating from page to screen.
Rosalie, you and my husband have the exact same viewpoint. It’s kinda nice to hear someone else say these things!
I am a huge fan of the series, have been since the first one came out. Seen all the movies and loved them. But the order of phoenix has got to be one of the worst movies. Putting scenes in the movie that never occured, takin key parts out that were needed to keep the movie on the right path. I’m sorry but I think order of the phoenix ruined the movie series for me atleast
My ENTIRE family agrees.. Half Blood Prince was absolutely awful… you should have heard my teen daughter after seeing it, she was so angry as to what they did — important stuff left out and putting in things that were never there. And now we have the same people making the next movies.
They don’t understand the love of the books that people have and the love of the movies.. no clue at all. My daughter had them read to her and then read them all at least 6 times, even my mom has read the books twice! And it says something about the movie when it’s on Amazon for less than $10 and hasn’t even been released yet!
Its easy to translate a book to film when you have like a third of the source material to translate.
Are you REALLY comparing Columbus’ job of translating maybe a 250- or 300-page novel to Yates’ job of translating books that are anywhere from two to three times LONGER? People give Columbus too much credit for “faithful” adaptations and conveniently forget that he had a LOT less material that needed inclusion.
I completely disagree. Order of the Phoenix was the worst adaptation since the mediocre Columbus twosome. Although Goblet of Fire remains my favorite film (OOTP my fave book), OOTP was plagued by weak montages, tone issues (Umbridge was not oppressive enough) and terrible giant effects. HBP may have made some unfortunate cuts, but it was also the best acted, and most emotional of the films. How much a film plays slave to the book does not define its quality.
They have left out key parts of the last book by skipping parts in Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince. What about the wedding which is a big plot piece? The Battle at Hogwarts with Bill getting attacked by a werewolf?
i see how you have this opinion cuz the film concentrates alot on love story but dont worry the next film is all action for sure!!!! visual amazement, the director has an extremely visually epic and grounded book to work with
I totally forgot about Bill…that is definitely a key plot point!
The problem for me wasn’t that some material got cut, but that they added stuff that did not fit with the characters or storyline. The fact that Harry is sitting in an underground cafe before school starts is crazy. He couldn’t leave Privet Drive. That was his protection!
Marcy, I get your point, but it wasn’t that he couldn’t leave Privet Drive AT ALL (if that was the case, him being at the zoo or on the island in the first book couldn’t have happened). The Privet Drive protection is in effect as long as Harry can say that Privet Drive was “home,” which he can do even when he’s sitting in an Underground station. It didn’t mean he was under house arrest there ALL the time.
Colombus did a great job but remember all he had to do was introduce the characters. the first 2 books were like two hundred pages lol. whereas the next ones started getting larger and larger and introduced so many characters. you have to leave stuff out.
also dont worry the next film will have Bill and Fleurs wedding. its been confirmed. Half Blood Prince cut the battle in hogwarts with Bill getting attacked cause it would be too much like the Battle of Hogwarts in the last book. the director knows everyone who watches the movies most likely read the book. so introducing bill more in the next one wont be random
I, too, hated HPB, and really hated that all the critics thought it was one of the best HP movies. I guess they never read the books!
You shouldn’t watch the new Teaser trailer for Deathly Hallows!! It will make the wait TORTUROUS!!! I just watched it and it’s AMAZING!! This film will be EPIC just like the book!!!! I can’t wait to get the HBP dvd so that I can watch that trailer over and over and over again! There’s a creepy/spectacular shot of Hermione casting protective spells around Dan and Rupert and her hands are all BlOODY from Ron being splinched! It’s perfect!!!
I am so excited. The details are coming in yet I get so excited but it is still so long away…but I just can not wait! Then again it is the second to last film and that is very bitter sweet.
i just peed a little.
opps… i craped my pants!
Now you got me going…
Yates has completely ruined the Potter franchise for me. “Order of the Phoenix” was awful and I didn’t even bother with “Half Blood Prince” as others said it was unrecognizable to the book.
So sorry that one disappointment and one movie you didn’t even see have ruined the whole franchise for you.
Now, me personally, I think that every movie has been better than the last, and the movies are separate and as dear to me as the books. I only hope that David Yates keeps his resident composer onboard and they don’t invite John Williams to phone in a copycat score for the final two, a la his earlier Potter films.
I agree with John. Half Blood Prince was definitely one of the better of the movies. It was definitely not unrecognizable and you can’t expect the movie to be an exact replica of the book. I think you should watch it instead of judging according to what others say. Although Daniel Radcliffe isn’t a good actor the rest of the cast, especially the older cast are A list actors/actresses.
you obviously havent heard his score for Prisoner of Azkaban which is one of Williams’ best scores of his already illustrious catalog… i prefer William’s copycat yet memorable score over Nicholas Hoopers forgettable throw away music… I say we just bring Michael Giacchinno– seems like the man can do anything right now…
Giacchino’s pretty awesome, and yes, Williams’ Azkaban music was very good. So I was a little off. I still get really excited when I hear Hooper’s Weasley Brothers theme though!
The movies are GOOD…but they mess up the books. If the movies were totally seperate, they would be great.
Thank you John. The best part of the films are the amazing technical quality. I stopped breathing when I read the headline for this article.
YES To Giacchino. Yes yes yes yes yes. Sorry. I’m very opinionated on that. At the risk of committing sacrilege, I think he might be even better than Williams when it comes to movie composers.
AGREED! What a joke to have this guy return after Order. Half-Blood Prince adding in a scene that wasnt in the book (weasley’s house burning down) and not having the Wizards battling at the end in Hogwarts was an absolute travesty. They should have kept alfonso cuaron or let Guillermo Del Toro do the last book like he said he wanted to. What a joke! This is the one time i’d be up for remaking a movie so quickly. Just start at 5 and redo the last books. PLEASE!
COMPLETLY AGREE!!!! I was so mad at the hack job Yates has done on the last two movies…even my husband who is not a book fan was disappointed in how these movies were done. My 8 year old son was also really upset that some of the best parts of the books were left out, not to mention MAJOR characters were not even brought in — which makes breaking the last book into two movies seem like a stunt…just because he did not think an audiance would sit through a longer movie! I can only hope that once the entire series is out on the collectors edition DVD that there will be scenes added back in for us die hard fans.
I have no idea why this is such a big deal for fans. Was it a big change from the book? yes. But it was necessary! The battle at the end of Half-Blood Prince is important for two reasons 1. the violation of Hogwarts 2. it furthers the cost that the Weasley family pays with what happens to Bill. The movie had the violation of Hogwarts with Bellatrix destroying the main hall. Bill, for all intents and purposes, isn’t a character in the movies so the cost for the Weasleys came with the attack on the Burrows.
You guys don’t understand what a hack is.
You may not have liked what he did, but what Yates did with Half Blood Prince was not the work of a hack.
The work of a hack is evident in Chris Columbus and his first two Potter films.
In no way should they have let Alfonso Cuaron near another Potter film. How would that solve the problem of maintaining the books’ integrity? OotP and HBP are the most entertaining Potter films. But I will never understand the complete lack of logic that goes into some of their decisions. It’s all well and good to take creative license, and it worked for most of HBP, such as the improvising with Cormac McLaggen and Dan getting high off of Felix Felicis, but why do they without fail claim before every movie that they have no screentime to include certain characters or plotpoints that only require maybe a minute of screentime and yet we go to see the movie and there is a 6 minute scene inserted that not only was not in the books nor does it enhance the audience’s understanding, but it actually confuses the plot and detracts from the story? So many loopholes with the Burrow attack that I don’t even want to get into, and it conveyed nothing. The producers claimed it would convey a sense of what was going on outside Hogwarts. The opening scene did that. As would a throwaway mention while reading the Daily Prophet over breakfast. Or even putting in the Prime Minister scene.
And Britt, Bill is a HUGE character in the 7th book, and from what I’ve heard, they maul his face anyway (who knows how they’re going to explain that) for the last two movies. Another instance of them shooting themselves in the foot. Make characters like Bill, Kreacher, Scrimgeour, etc minor presences earlier on, and you have less ’splainin to do in the last two movies.
Caitlin, I know Bill is an essential character in the seventh book and he will be in the seventh movie. However, he’s still not that essential in terms of the overall plot. He has a wedding, they stay at his cottage, and he warns them about goblins. That’s it. It’s not a difficult explanation really, they could just say that Greyback mauled his face and not explain it beyond that. I would be surprised if they even bring Scrimgeour into the seventh movie. It’s simple enough to just have Kingsley say “the ministry has fallen” and leave it at that.
I agree, Britt. A movie is a different type of storytelling than a book is, and has different needs. It has to be more condensed and more visual. Peripheral characters (and whether or not you like it, Bill is a peripheral character) are often eliminated or condensed into composite characters. Cuaron brought magic to the series in “Azkaban”, Newell injected teen hormones and emotion to “Goblet of Fire”, while Yates has brought a more grown-up reality that the series has needed in the later books. Cormac McCarthy recently spoke about the differing needs of the two storytelling mediums in the Wall Street Journal, and about how too faithful an adaptation can really kill a movie.
Well you missed out on a brilliant film. OOTP and HBP are both amazing films. If you compare them to the books, then of course you’re going to hate the movie. It’s nearly impossible to fit all that detail into a two and half hour film. If it was me I would’ve split all the films in two starting with Goblet of Fire, but they still did an amazing job. The films by themselves are brilliant. I love them all. I am a little worried about Yates’ comment about “pulling away from the magic” the magic is what makes Harry Potter what it is and Yates has taken a lot of the whimsical quality of the books out of the two films that he’s directed so that worries me about DH.
I think it’s been necessary in the later movies to make them less “magical” than in the earlier ones. After Voldemort returns and Diggery is killed, there’s a more adult sensibility to the stories, and the power of magic for evil comes more to the fore. Harry has also become more used to magic as an everyday part of life, so you can’t have him going around all wide-eyed about it anymore, epecially now that he’s seen its dark side.
Thing is, the whimsy works when Harry is 11 or 12 years old and is still new to the world and unfamiliar to it. But it doesn’t make sense and it doesn’t fit for him to be 17 years old and still constantly in awe of the wizarding world. At some point, the magic has to move past being a novelty and start being just an everyday occurrence.
The earlier books/movies were able to treat magic as being this totally awesome thing because Harry was young, he was unused to it and he had yet to see magic seriously injure/kill someone. Now that he’s seen what evil can be done with magic, he has to take a more sobering and more adult evaluation of it.
This is true. I guess if you think about the whole whimsical “magic is cool” thing starts to fade after book 4. DH is definitely the most realistic of all the books. The trio are adults and they have this serious task to complete. They don’t have all the adults protecting them from the truth anymore. I’m actually really excited about Yates directing DH. I think he’s perfect for this film and he mentioned that he’s doing a lot of handheld camera work, which is exciting. I’m just worried they will take out little details like Potterwatch in favor of being more “realistic.”
Apparently the DVD of Half-Blood Prince is going to have footage of Deathly Hallows. I cannot wait! Though I’m not sure what I’m going to do when it’s all over!
I don’t think so… the DVD is out here in Australia, and there is no DH footage on my copy…
There IS going to be some footage on the U.S. DVD/Blu-Ray version (and maybe other international versions). It wasn’t on the Australian version, but that version came out three weeks or so before anyone else got it.
YES! I can’t wait for November next year!!! I need more Harry Potter!!
Aw, so far away! But honestly I’m glad it’s not sooner, because once these movies are released, that’s the end of the Potter franchise. Til JK finally lightens up and lets other authors expand the universe, that is.
Lighten up yourself, Colin. Personally I’m glad she hasn’t let hacks water down the franchise (minus the movies. *ducks and runs*)
Let’s hope and pray that JK NEVER “lightens up” because no one else can or should even attempt to do justice to these amazing characters…they could never compare to JK herself!
As long as it’s better than HPB, I will be happy. I loved Yates’ work in “Order of the Phoenix,” but I had to work hard to find things I liked in HPB. I’m looking forward to the big finale, though!
Agree 100%. Thought “Order” was the best of the series, but “Half-Blood Prince” (while my favorite book) was the worst since part one.
Half Blood Prince was terrible. Everything about it was miscalculated and erroneous. Where do you even start? Having Harry simply hide rather then being petrified by Dumbledore. No Hogwarts battle at the end. No funeral, getting some cheesy wand-raising salute instead. A completely mis-interpreted confrontation with Harry and Snape (with Radcliffe playing it perfectly and Rickman, as good as he has been, botching it completely). Continuing to fail to emphasize Kreacher (how can you even HAVE a movie of book 7 without Kreacher? He is key to one of the best scenes in the series with the house elves). Deathly Hallows is literally a perfect book, so I shudder to think how they are going to screw it up in the name of a re-imagining, by a guy who has shown zero ability whatsoever to interpret the material.
Just a quick note: Radcliffe has read all of the books, while Rickman (who I agree, is usually amazing) has not. I think that would account for the subtleties missed in his performance in HBP.
I was a little annoyed that Harry just stood there when I first saw the movie, but after I re-watched it a couple of times…I realized that Harry promised Dumbledore that he would listen to him and that he would save himself if that situation came up. Harry trusts Dumbledore so that’s why he didn’t run up there…plus Harry isn’t a complete idiot so he knows he probably would’ve died if he had run up there with 6 deatheaters and tried to protect Dumbledore. He would’ve lost that fight. And Kreacher will be in movie 7, so will Dobby. They have two 3 hour movies to work with for Deathly hallows so I’m sure all the important plot points will be included.
Thank goodness someone else agrees with me, they have screwed up the series so much that I hope they will start the series from the beginning and make a die hard version for the fans, I mean how are they going to make DH the way it should be when Dumbledore never even discussed with Harry what he thought the Horcruxes were!?!
JackBauerEnthusiast, it is completely and utterly out of character for Harry to have obeyed Dumbledore at that moment like he did in the movie. This is precisely why Dumbledore petrifies him in the book. Harry IS an idiot (I mean that affectionately of course) and he WOULD jump out and attack those Death Eaters to save Dumbledore in a heartbeat. He would not have considered the odds. Dumbledore and JKR see this as one of his most admirable, if problematic, qualities, so it really does ruin a lot for the fans that they didn’t do this, and there is no logical reason for them not to have done it.
@mscisluv, Rickman actually reads the books as they film them; Besides JK told him the entire story of the ‘prince’ as soon as he’d signed to do the films. Basically he knew pretty much the entire story looooooong before anyone else (other than JK of course).
Actually this is the reason he refuses to talk about “Severus” in interviews, because he knew much more than the readers- which I think is really kind of him, because he’s always revealing plot points when he’s doing publicity for a movie (eg- Nobel Son), and it shows just how much he respects JK and the books
Now, see, I kind of loved the scene under the stairs in HBP, where Harry is “hiding.” You get that moment where Snape sees Harry, and you see Harry, despite everything, decide to trust Snape (because he must trust Dumbledore) and not alert anyone to his presence. Then, later, when Harry shouts after Snape “He [Dumbledore] trusted you!,” the underlying subtext, which is not in the book, is “I trusted you!” Which makes it a much more personal and devastating betrayal. I actually think it was handled well for the amount they had to convey in that moment.
I agree, Laura K. It actually works much better in Harry’s character development. I usually like Rowling’s plot and character decisions, but I always thought that the paralyzing spell was a bit of a cop-out. It took the decision out of Harry’s hands, making it a non-character-driven decision.
I totally agree with Caitlin. It was so out of character for Harry. I actually really disliked HBP, but more so OoTP which makes me nervous about Yates doing the last 2. I felt myself get all excited again and then felt that caution come in that said, don’t get too attached. I was ecstatic with all the pics and and previews for HBP before it came out…it looked like the most true film yet. And then I watched, twice, and I just get pissed every time.
YES! That’s the reason I decided I was okay with the Harry not attacking scene because there’s a point in that scene when Harry is actually about to run up the stairs and THEN Snape appears and tells him to be quiet. Dumbledore basically spends the whole movie telling Harry that he trusts Snape, so Harry thinks everything will be okay because Snape is there now. That’s why he doesn’t attack!
I actually liked Order of the Phoenix. I thought he did a phenomenal job with the material he had to work with since the book was just so hard to get through. Harry is really annoying in that book. I enjoyed Half blood Prince. If you want to blame someone i would blame Alfonso Cuarón for ruining Prisoner of Azkaban. That was my favorite book and i can’t even watch the movie. My favorite director was actually Mike Newell of Half Blood Prince.
I meant goblet of fire
You realize you are completely alone on the island on that one? I havent met a single person who didnt think POA was the best Potter movie by FAR and a perfect adaptation. Not to say your wrong, just that you are literally the only person I’ve ever seen to have that particular opinion.
I’ve actually met a lot of people who hated POA because it left out the Marauders plotline, but I agree with you…it’s one of my favorites. POA was my favorite book before HBP and DH were released. That book is perfect and so is the movie.
Now you’re met another. I like GoF and OotP best myself (of the movies), and never watched PoA after seeing it in theaters.
I couldn’t stand POA.
I don’t think that Emma and Rupert are great actors…and POA really highlighted that, in my opinion.
I think that HBP was the best film of the series.
@anonymous: You should give it another chance. I didn’t think I liked it the first time either, but after I got the dvd…I wore it out. That movie is brilliant.
@Susan: All of the trio are amazing young actors. I thought out of all of them Dan’s acting wasn’t that great in POA particularly in the “He was their friend!” scene. But they were only 12, 13 years old at that time. But I thought Emma was excellent in POA especially in the punch scene with Draco and her scenes with Trelwaney.
Yeah Heather don’t listen to Hutchy. You are not alone on that. I wasn’t crazy about POA either. And it was FAR from a perfect adaptation. Seriously Hutchy I’ve LITERALLY never read a more annoying post then yours. Including Youtube posts. And those are pretty bad.
It was virutally identical to the books, with the exception of the background material regarding the Marauder’s Map, which as we all know was useless information anyway as the series continued. What, pray tell, was so im-perfect about it that subsequent adaptations have improved upon?
Well for starters, Hutchy, Werewolf Lupin was blue and looked like Wile E. Coyote and there was the stupid endless “What are you doing?” “SAVING YOUR LIFE!” storyline.
Anybody who has worked with media would know how difficult it is to adapt litterary works to the big screen. The movies are great – take them as they are – adaptations not carboncopies.
I totally agree. I’m a diehard fan of the books, but I adore the movies as well. While I sometimes puzzle over how they are going to “fix” things when they’ve left something important out of the movie, to me that’s part of the excitement. Even if you’ve read all of the books (multiple times), you still wonder what, exactly, is going to happen next.
One thing that bears pointing out/repeating is this: the HBP movie was weaker beacuse movies 1-5 were shot prior to the realease of the DH book and as a result, and dismissed/not included plot points from the first five stories that appeared irrelevant at the time. HBP the movie had a lot to cram in to a set period of time and while it did have numerous weaknesses, the pacing can be set down to being forced to cram in and explain points that could have been looked after in the previous films.
I agree, but the movie still captured the tone of book 6. The book is very slow pacing and then there’s this shocker at the end. The whole point of book 6 is to set up what happens in DH and movie 6 does that for DH. I’m a little worried about how their going to explain all the other horcruxes since Harry hasn’t seen them all yet like he had in the book. I’m assuming their going to use Hermione’s knowledge of Hogwarts, A History and have her determine that the other horcruxes are also from Hogwart’s founders. I loved the hint they put in the HBP movie about Harry being a horcrux. I thought that was a nice touch.
It didnt capture the tone at all. How can you describe Voldemort’s descent into evil without showing all the flashbacks? Or truly explaining what the Horcruxes are? Or having Rickman botch his portrayal of Snape because he hasnt read the books? Or butcher the entire last 1/3rd of the book?
Well I’ve always thought Rickman’s version of Snape was a little tame compared to the one in the books. I think it’s because JKR told him about Snape being in love with Lily back when they first started the films, so he’s always kind of held back on Snape’s maliciousness. But they did capture the tone of book 6 very well. It’s actually a really funny book. I think a lot of people forget that because the dark moments are SO dark. But book 6 is very light-hearted compared to the others. But at the same time it’s contrasted with these dark undertones because of what Draco is doing and all the stuff about Voldemort and Harry finding out how hard it’s going to be to destroy Voldemort and of course Dumbledore dying. All of that is in the movie! I’m anxious to see how they’re going to clean up the horcrux mess since it wasn’t explained well like you said, but I think it can be done.
what hint??
I have to disagree. I think it didn’t capture all of the important tones of the book. Sure, it did a great job with the funny, light hearted part of the books. HBP is actually one of my faves because I thought it did such a good job of setting up…it had that perfect quiet before the storm feel and BAM, you get the super charged ending. So they captured the first part but did HORRIBLY with the latter. The last 200 pages of HBP are like some of Jo’s best and they convey revelation, urgency, grief, action, drama, build-up…I never felt any of that. Not to mention the Horcrux debacle, or that Burrow scene, or that scene with Harry watching Dumbledore die, or Snape’s obvious hesitancy, or the way they flubbed Harry & Ginny’s relationship.
There’s a part when Dumbledore is explaining the horcruxes when Harry touches the Peverell ring and it starts spinning and then Harry does that neck thing that he did a lot in OOTP whenever he was accessing Voldemort’s thoughts. You can tell by Dumbledore’s expression that the ring had never reacted that way before and he starts starring at Harry all weird after it happens.
I like to think of the books as something seperate from the movies and vice versa. If the part of the movie is not in the book than I just disregard it and focus on the other stuff and let my knowledge fill in the blanks. It is a lot more fun to look at it that way instead of constantly complaining about the movies. I have really enjoyed them including most of the stuff they have added. RON AND HERMIONE!!! I can not wait to see the rest of their romance unfold in this film and then finally the kiss.
Hear, hear, Jacquelyn!
amen. finally. a movie is a directors vision of a story, not a direct translation. i agree with you, let your knowledge fill in the rest
Can’t wait for that either Jacquelyn! I hope they don’t screw it up like they did Harry and Ginny’s kiss.
That made me so sad. Harry and Ginny’s kiss was adorible in the book but so cheesy in the movie but I just ignore it and remember what REALLY happened!
I agree about Harry & Ginny’s kiss/relationship in the movie. I hadn’t read the book prior to seeing the movie, & once I read the book & read how their kiss “really” happened, & read JKR’s version of Harry & Ginny’s relationship throughout HBP, I was even more disappointed in how their relationship was handled in the movie. They should have focused a bit less on Ron/Lavender and a bit more on Harry/Ginny. I liked the movie overall, but it only really made sense to me after I read the book and was able to fill in some of the holes in the movie. & some of the important plot hints that were left out will be harder to explain in DH 1 & 2 now. Like someone else said, I do try to treat the books and movies as separate, & fill in the blanks with my own knowledge from the books, but I think that HBP was the poorest adaptation because it doesn’t stand alone as well without the info. from the book.
I can’t wait for that either. Ron/Hermione are my absolute favorite. I think them moving the kiss to the Chamber of Secrets was a good idea considering the kiss in OOTP and HBP occurred in the room of requirement.
Ron looks like he needs a shot of B-12 or something.
Is he anemic?
Sadly, it’s a curse shared by many redheads (really fair skin and freckles), and not necessarily of Irish descent.
Yes, they are called Gingers. They suffer from Gingervitis and they do not have souls.
He actually had the swine flu at some point…
Lmao! They all look pretty sick in this picture because they’re scared for their lives! I’m excited that Hermione is holding the PURPLE HANDBAG though!!!
really? is she? I can’t even see it…
But for some reason, in the movie she wears a red dress to the wedding. What self respecting girl would carry a purple handbag with a red dress to a formal wedding? THe only reason her handbag was purple is because her dress was. I will never understand the makers of these films.
You’re probably one of the people who freaked out when Hermione’s dress was pink instead of blue in Goblet of Fire.
And Hermione doesn’t strike me as the type of girl who would worry too much about color clashing.
Caitlin’s right…no one complained about the color of her dress in Goblet cuz she looked gorgeous and it was a great dress. I kinda hated the red dress and Hermione doesn’t usually care, but she does on special occasions.
I actually like the red dress with the purple handbag. Emma looks great in red. Plus I have a feeling the wedding won’t be too formal. It is the magical world. So I bet everyone was mismatched. I think Ron was wearing a sparkly suit.
sorry almost had a heart attack reading the headline. lets just say i’m a little excited for nov. 2010.
