'New Moon' costume designer Tish Monaghan on Edward's suit and Jacob's cut-offs

You have to immediately like a costume designer who’ll admit that she’s wearing sweatpants while chatting with you from her Vancouver home. Read the full post.

I loved New Moon, I thought Chris and the cast did a fantastic job, however for the most part the costumes simply did not work. The enchanted forest scene was the only part of the movie that I hated. I cringed…it was so corny, out of place and completely disrupted the flow of the tense Volturi scene. The audience I sat with erupted in laughter…again disrupting the flow of the movie but the costumes in this scene were hideous, Bella’s dress in particular was so ridiculous, the party dress of a two year old! Alice is supposed to be a fashionista and yet during her first appearance in the movie she was dressed like some sort of renaissance painter. Her look in Italy just didn’t work…especially the weird patterned coat. Whilst Edward looked hot, I agree with many others that the tweed suit is not something likely to be worn by someone aged 17, I know he’s 109 but he’s pretending to be a teenager. It’s too late for Eclipse but PLEASE get the costumes right in Breaking Dawn.

I liked Edwards suit. But I thought he could have had some other clothes after the party
