Doc, I do believe you have mistaken this show for one that gives a sh**. There is absolutely nothing so deep here as what you going on in Lost. Not even close. These guys aren’t even paying attention to little details, let alone the big ones.

And the show’s likely to be canceled prior to April 29th anyway, so give it up, go back to Lost, and write me ten pages of wacky conspiracy, because this crappy show doesn’t deserve the time and thought you are putting into it. After, the writers and producers aren’t putting any time and thought into it.

I AM SO GLAD THAT SOMEONE IS FINALLY WRITING ABOUT THIS SHOW/GOING TO DO RECAPS!!! I have loved this show from the beginning – hello every favorite actor ever! And I’m super super excited for the recaps!!

Also: Dolls = LOST episode “White Rabbit” when Jack found his dad’s empty coffin/that dude drowned and those dolls were “drowning” in the creek….JUST SAYING.

So glad that you are in the case Doc! Looking forward to your theories.

I too was glad to see you weigh in on this show, both in the mag and here. Keep up the good work (even tho some of what you say makes my head hurt!).

Ah, Doc, I love that you’re spreading your brand of crazy around. I too figured Jericho was a nod to the show, also because it also featured a seemingly evil military contractor running the show.

One of the “FlashForward” shoutouts I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere is to “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” in the episode “The Gift.” Not only is this the same episode title as “Buffy’s” 100th ep, the fifth season finale, but in “FlashForward’s” “The Gift” Agent Gough dies the same way Buffy did, by throwing himself to his death, and for the same purpose, to help others. The gift that Al and Buffy gave their friends is that they both saved the world – a lot.

Great article, Doc! I too am loving this show. Great news about the TV Watch recap! I am psyched for Dec. 3.

Oh, thanks to the poster who reminded me that I have been meaning to read Foucault’s Pendulum since Doc Jensen brought it up in a Lost recap last season.

  • Stacey

Thanks for the recap Doc – I’ve been completely disappointed in this show (I think LOST ruined me for all others), so your post gave me some hope and reason to hang on through the hiatus.

I like Flash Forward a lot, (although it’s nowhere near as good as LOST). However, there’s one thing about it that is starting to disappoint me. It seems as though a lot of people’s visions are only coming true because they were seen and now the people are going after them. Case and point Janis and the baby. I would like it better if the visions were coming true IN SPITE of what people were doing to avoid them not because people are going after them. I think it’s lame that Janis is now looking into sperm donors simply because she saw her flashforward and now thinks she is supposed to have a baby. Also, I kind of thought that Flash Forward was going to kind of focus on one character each week like LOST does. I feel like we don’t really know or care about the Flash Forward characters. I’m probably very biased though, because I am such a huge LOST fan.

I don’t know, I think the fact that people are making decisions that are allowing that perceived future to happen is actually kind of interesting. When you know what your future holds, do you just give in to the seeming inevitability of it, or do you fight it? Seems like more of the characters in this show are doing the former than the latter.

FYI, in the Nazi prisoner episode the name “Quale” also has a slightly more prosaic meaning – it’s the German word for “torture” or “pain” (well, minus the -e).

  • Sue

DOC! We need your take on this show, specifically, what the hell does this “hiatus” mean?? Help!

  • Loren

The show is o.k. By all standards “hearts” aka, their want to make money is in the right place. Its creative and different. However slow and semi-predictable it is. If you google half the “main events” u will see what their a reference to and be able to piece together a cohesive prediction. I’m only here because i’ve been drinking champagne and it seems fun at the moment. viva la bubbles
