Kristen Stewart's 'New Moon' red carpet style: A 'New' look?

We know Kristen Stewart has a penchant for short dresses and Converse on the red carpet, but for last night’s L.A. premiere of New Moon, the actress took a glamorous turn in a strapless white tulle gown by Oscar de la Renta.

Stewart still seemed to make it her own with the dark rag-tag hair and sultry eye makeup, but the fairy-tale look is a refreshing change of pace from her heavy rotation of sassy minis. Who knew she had a princess within her all along?

What do you guys think of her premiere look? Do you think Bella would approve?

Honestly? I kind of like it. And this is coming from someone who doesn’t much care at all for Kristen Stewart or the Twilight franchise.

    • Brooke

Though, okay, the downside being that Kristen Stewart is going to, like, single handedly bring grunge back into vogue.

      Which it already is.

      Gah.

      • Romantic Fool

She changed into her grunge outfit for the after party. She told her manager’s that she wore the dress for the pics…leave me alone. She sure is butch when not acting like a girl.

      Needs a pearl necklace …

      • Heather2

        …. no she doesn’t it.

        Kristen and pearls?

Might as well put her in a pink tutu and ballerina slippers.

        WTF?

      • LongBalls

        Heather2 needs a pearl necklace too …

For all you MST3K fans, Rifftrax (the guys behind Tom, Crow & Mike) has done a hilarious commentary for Twilight that actually turns dreck into something quite palatable… and they finally settle the age-old sparkly vampire vs. non-sparkly vampire debate!!

      • roy

Thanks! I had no idea about this. Very funny and love MST3K – my 80 yr old grandmother introduced me to them!

I love the top bit. I actually think she looks quite beautiful and I am most definitely not a fan of the mullet but I think the way it is styled for this event is quite pretty. The best bit about this look though… wait for it… there is a smile there. She is trying to hide it but we see a little upward turn of the mouth Kristen.

i thought she looked really nice, but i thiught she looked nice at last yeast premiere too. its the events in between that have not panned out so well, like the press conferance in brazil(where she was wearling a pair of jeans that did NOT compliment her and she had her tanktop tucked inside the jeans with the suspenders). also the converce and jeans are fine for press conerances really, but for the premieres you have to pull out the big guns, and i think she really did :)

  • rush

i also have to add that i saw her on conan last night and heels and minis is a really good look for her cuz she has awsome legs

    • Leslie

her legs look like twigs from a dying tree.

  • Shaun

    Beautiful!

  • Carnar

Lovely dress. It’s a shame she can’t stand up straight and be proud of her look.

    • znachki

Just what I was thinking! She looks very self-conscious, which is a shame.

    • Kat

Ugh, yes, her posture is terrible. It is a lovely dress, though.

    • Maserda

I think a nicer hair style would have made the look a lot better. Even if she’s wearing the wig she wore in the movie would have worked with this dress.

    • Kristen

I agree also – and would it kill her to smile.

  • Yesenia

I like it for her. It’s a classy dress with just enough of her own influences- hair, paleness, make up- that I think it looks great on her. I’m liking the hair especially compared to how she had been wearing it.

  • David

Is that really her? I can’t see the resemblence.

  • klio

Is it just me or she is trying to be Emma Watson? Most of the dresses she wore during promotion remained me of Emma when she was promoting Harry Potter! Maybe she has the same stylist!!!!!

    • jodipo

no she is not. Emma has style, poise, and grace. Kristen has none of those things

      • Romantic Fool

        Google “Kristen Stewart is gay”
The whole Robsten thing is designed to cover up her very tomboy personality. Why do you think she threw a football on Fallon’s show in a dress. She is tough not cool, intimidating not impressive. I think Summit reps are trying to promote the Robsten thing because it is easier to explain than a good Catholic boy (movies.ie Paul Byrne-UK Twilight Premiere) and a gay girl.

  • LB

    she looks awkward in it.

  • Heather2

    Gorgeous, stunning.

Although, I would have liked for her hair to have been styled straight.

    Other than that, flawless.

She can be glam when she wants to be.

  • Kalie

I think it’s a cool dress and it suits her. I like it. I just wish they’d done a little more w/ her hair, then her look would be perfect. She’s such a lovely girl.

  • catt

i think she looks beautiful but i think her style is great…if it were me however i would have the dress shorter because she is not tall and cos she is skinny the dress almost drowns her! if it was 50’s style it would be perfect -they all looked lovely so talented

  • mrstaylorlautner1111

I thought she was more into like, bright colors and something more bold, but I guess I was wrong. It doesn’t really look good on her. The hair does not go with the dress. I haven’t always liked her, but I think she’s growing on me.

  • Sara

The dress looks good on her, but would have looked miles better if she stood up straight. (I say, as I slouch over my laptop.)
