This season of Gossip Girl may have been a touch disappointing so far, but never fear, fellow fans! Monday’s episode promises at least a smidge of excitement when pop superstar Lady Gaga performs! The CW has released a super-short preview of the performance, which you can watch here:
Love that she’s doing “Bad Romance”—which couldn’t be more perfect as a nod to all the twisted relationships on the show. Love that crunky, wild hair. And love the ginormousness of her dress, which literally required the Gaga to be lifted into the sky before it’d fall without being bunched at the ground. Love.
But I’m concerned about Blair, who pops up momentarily as an audience member in this clip. Why are you so forlorn looking? (And why are you holding a candle?) Gaga shows are a place where you dance and, well, smile! Have a little fun! I did while watching this. PopWatchers, you loving the Gossip Girl-Gaga marriage? Excited to see the full performance (assuming it’s longer in the episode) on Monday?

Ok, I am NOT asking this to be mean, I’m asking because I’m an old lady in my mid-thirties and I really don’t know: Is Lady Gaga actually a man in drag, or just a really strong-featured woman? Illuminate me.
She has a strong affinity for drag culture. So she sharpens her features to resemble drag queens. At least that’s my take on it. In the Bad Romance video, she has a more stripped-down look in some scenes and she is actually quite pretty.

Like Joan Crawford, she’s a female, female impersonator. She’s always in costume, and isn’t the type of person to step outside in jeans and flip flops. Her wardrobe in Bad Romance is spectacular.

I highly disagree. I think she is edgy and steps beyond most maintstream musicians’ comfort zones with her performances and style. And I don’t think she was even close to trying to mimic Carrie Underwood. Nothing against Carrie Underwood, but I’m sure she is not her role model. What ideas does she recycle?
I agree about the recycling – all of her looks and musical styles have been done already but she acts as if she just invented them. Also, when you have to try that hard to be edgy, you clearly are not edgy.
Her music has little or no substance – dance-pop, which is fine for what it is – but she seems to think that she is making some kind of grand statement. Newsflash: Poker Face is not profound.

I thought she was a drag queen too-she’s not pretty at all without the make-up- what stands out to me the most is that she cannot perform in an outfit unless it shows her crotch in full view-maybe she’s trying to prove she’s not a man (or no longer a man). I think she is talented as far as disco music- but it’s not something I would listen to- she and Adam Lambert should form a band- he can be a she, and vice versa.

I love Lady Gaga! She is so courageous, inventive, and endlessly entertaining. You never know what she will do next, and that has been missing from pop culture for such a long time! She isn’t a slave to looking sexy, and instead tries so many other things. I absolutely love her new video to Bad Romance (I thought it couldn’t get better than her Paparazzi film/video). Can’t wait to see her on tour!

TO THE HATERS: Lady Gaga doesn’t give a “bleep” what you think. She’s a huge superstar and she did it doing and dressing exactly as she likes. She’s fearless, as evidenced by her new music video:
this woman is so overrated, sure her video is interesting but what about the music itself, it sucks!
Love her or hate her (and there are haters), we have found the next Madonna with GaGa. She is by far the most exciting artist pop music has come across in the better part of 25 years. The Bad Romance video (almost 8 million views in only 7 days on YouTube) is 1 part Thriller, 1 part Bedtime Story (Madonna) and 2 parts GaGa… Simply amazing!!!
There is no way to say that we have found the next Madonna (unlikely) since she has only been known for about a year. Until she proves she has staying power (like Madonna) and has real cultural influence, it is premature at best to proclaim something like that as fact.
Gaga has energized the music industry once again. Not only is her videos entertaining but so is her music. She is the next level. Simply put.
