This week's cover: 'It's Complicated' star Alec Baldwin would like to remarry

1075-alec-meryl_lIt’s easy to see why Nancy Meyers’ new comedy, It’s Complicated, appealed to Alec Baldwin. First there was the opportunity to work with Meryl Streep, who plays his ex-wife. But he was also drawn to the way Meyers explored the messy matter of divorce — and the way two well-adjusted ex-spouses try getting back together. “I don’t mean to be glib,” he told EW last week. “But the title really is perfect. It is complicated. I had a pretty tough divorce myself, so sometimes I sit there and I go, ‘Well, should I have worked it out? Maybe I should have tried harder.’ It’s also what you teach your children about their love lives. That’s a big thing for me, to teach my daughter: No risk, no reward. I want her to realize that it’s a roll of the dice. Not everybody gets so lucky, where they have a family and a marriage forever and ever.” (Here he gestured to Streep, who has been married to sculptor Don Gummer since 1978.) What’s more, the Emmy-winning actor doesn’t rule out walking down the aisle again, if he finds the right person. “People say, ‘Do I believe in getting married?’ Oh yeah, of course I do. I’d love to get married again,” he explained before adding with trademark deadpan: “I have to find a really rich woman so I can stay home and read books all day.”

I love Alec….does anybody remember him in that casino movie with Wm. Macy? He was fantastico….he played the corrupt hard edge casino owner….anyway, if Alec wanted to, really wanted to, he could find somebody, as many women as there are in the world. He could order a Russian bridge….whatever….I would love to see him married again. Alec: put aside your vanity and just do it!

You’re referring to The Cooler. He was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for that and deserved it.

I’d Marry him and I wouldn’t even have to change my last name. lol

  • Betty Boop

I’d marry him, but I don’t think I can afford him!

I have nothing against him as a actor. He is good @ his day job.

Husband/Father is a whole other story. There is always 2 sides to every story. Unfortunate for him …. his was played out in the media.

He does need to find a RUSSIAN BRIDE without a clue. :)

I love him, think he’s a great guy, and obviously extremely funny and enjoyable to watch in movies/TV. I hope he finds happiness etc. The only thing… he may need to get “healthy” first. He used to be a little bit more attractive, although I will say he is damn fine when saying some of his hilarious comebacks to Liz in 30 Rock.

Would he also like to berate another preteen daughter of his over the phone and call her “pig”? You stay classy, Alec!!

  • susanmn

I think he is amazing – I can relate to the challenges of moving to parent of an adult child – he needs the skills and emotions of The Edge
