Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford, together at last

hanks-whitford_lI don’t want to start watching another cop show, but it looks like I might have to: Colin Hanks has been cast alongside Bradley Whitford in an upcoming Fox cop “action comedy” from Matt Nix, creator of Burn Notice. Hanks will play an “ambitious, by-the-book detective” while Josh Lyman Whitford will be a “a drunken, lecherous, wild-card cop who hangs onto his job only because of a heroic act years before,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Does this sound a little hokey? Maybe. But Burn Notice can sound sort of lame, and that show’s a lot of fun. Mostly, though, I’m stoked to see Whitford as a decrepit sack of grumpiness and Hanks as a softie. Gird your LiveJournals, fan fic writers! Something tells me there’s a lot of slash fiction heading our way once Jack and Dan debuts.

Are you aboard my enthusiasm train, PopWatchers?

I love Colin Hanks, will watch him in anything. But as much as I like Hanks, that’s how much I can’t stand Bradley Whitford. He just rubs me the wrong way. Will they cancel each other out and make the show watchable? Doubtful. Sorry Margaret, I’m not with you on this one.

I, on the other hand, LOVE Bradley Whitford. So much so that I kind of missed studio 60 for a minute.

Colin Hanks was great in Mad Men, fine in that orange county thing, …but that’s about all I can come up with.
FlashForward is my only current cop show and not a comedy. So I’m all over it, though I’m not looking to fill the void of the unusuals…

Terrible title, sounds stupid but the casting is very intriguing.

Totally random comment–Colin Hanks looks a lot like Tom Cavanagh in that picture.

I am ridiculously amused by your mention of slashfic :P Here’s the thing – I don’t really like cop shows, but I watch Castle for Nathan Fillion and I have a huge crush on Bradley Whitford left over from The West Wing (oh God did I ship him and Donna! He was so awesome), so what I’m trying to say here is it appears I’ll watch cop shows if they star handsome men whom I recall fondly from previous awesome shows. So. I’m excited. Even if the thought of slashfic between two characters when one of them is practically old enough to be the other’s father is a little creepy.

I agree with the comment about the title being awful. Sounds like a lame porno title. Those two actors and that writer deserve a better show title for sure.

    laaaaaaame

this sounds like film Dragnet (which was a tv show? not sure). but Colin Hanks doesn’t play the part his dad, Tom Hanks, did, but Akroyd’s part. i might watch this. my love of all things Tom Hanks does extend down to his son.

Love it! I’ve missed Bradley ever since NBC dropped Studio 60. I’ll definitely be watching this show.

Whitford’s last cop try, Off Duty, sounded like a better show. I don’t watch cop shows and I don’t watch fox. I may try it to see Whitford in his element though as a drunken lech.
