Do you feel lucky? Well, do ya? You should, if you’re a Clint Eastwood fan, because Warner Brothers has announced the forthcoming release of a massive retrospective box set of his work at the studio. Clint Eastwood: 35 Films, 35 Years at Warner Bros. is set to hit stores Feb. 16 at $179.98, and will cover a large swathe of the squinting icon’s filmography, from 1968’s Where Eagles Dare to last year’s Gran Torino (which by my fifth-grade math skills, is 40 years, but I’m not complaining). It will also include Eastwood Factor, a documentary on the filmmaker by Time magazine critic Richard Schickel. READ FULL STORY »

'The Amazing Race': Talking with Flight Time and Big Easy
You can mock Nate “Big Easy” Lofton all you want for not being able to unscramble five letters to spell “Franz” last night. But the truth is we’ll all miss him and Herb “Flight Time” Lang in next week’s season finale. The fan favorite team of Harlem Globetrotters checked in with EW to defend their spelling skills and dish about those dastardly brothers.
EW: First of all, I’m not going to be able to call you Nate and Herb. You’re Flight Time and Big Easy.
Big Easy: We’re known as Flight Time and Big Easy all around the world. We’ve traveled so much. People know us by our nicknames. We used our regular names when we were talking to each other, though.
EW: How did you two get selected from the entire Globetrotters team to compete on Amazing Race?
Flight Time: Last year, in October 2008, [Globetrotters management] came to us with a list of reality shows and asked would we want to be on any of them if we had an opportunity. They pitched them about getting a couple of us on there. Luckily for us, we were the two selected to represent the team. We have a great relationship so we knew we would make a good team.
Big Easy: We went through everything that everyone else did to get on the show. We weren’t just put on the show because we were Nate and Herb. We went through every step. We didn’t get any extra help because of who we are. We had to work just as hard.
'Prep & Landing' star Sarah Chalke shares her least favorite holiday song. What's yours?
For the record, Sarah Chalke has holiday spirit. She’s expecting her first child, a son, on Christmas Day, and she’s one of the stars of Disney Prep & Landing, the first Christmas special exec produced by John Lasseter for ABC (premieres Dec.1, at 8:30 p.m. ET, right before Chalke makes the first of four guest appearances on the new season of Scrubs). She voices Magee, the North Pole Christmas Eve Command Center Coordinator, who partners with jaded elf Wayne (The Kids in the Hall‘s Dave Foley) with an idealistic rookie partner Lanny (Men in Trees‘ Derek Richardson). Hilarity really does ensue as they prepare a boy’s home for Santa’s arrival, just like it did when EW asked Chalke to name her least favorite holiday song.
“I was actually kicked out of the choir when I was in Grade 5,” she says. “My sister and I, we’re not very musical, so our choir teacher would say, ‘Chalke girls, just mouth the words for this performance.’ And this was not a professional choir, this was all the kids from the class going to the mall and singing. Like, ‘Is it really gonna hurt if you have two people who are not in tune?’ We were so excited about Christmas and excited about this mall performance, so there we were mouthing the words to ‘Here Comes Santa Claus.’ For some reason, that song just really brings that back. And it scarred us for life. The reason I wanted to go into acting was because I wanted to be Eponine in Les Mis, and then that just kind of had to go by the wayside.”
Is there a holiday song for which you harbor a secret, irrational hatred? Because we know you’ll share, we’ll give you a gift after the jump: Chalke’s equally mortifying hilarious answer to the question “What’s the most embarrassing song on your iPod?” READ FULL STORY »
'Panic Attack': The short film that inspired a Hollywood bidding war
Might this short film be the genesis of District 9: En Espanol? Sam Raimi’s production company thinks so.
Ataque de Pánico (Panic Attack), a four-minute short from Uruguayan commercial director Fede Alvarez, was made for reportedly less than $500. But Variety reports that the impressive short led Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures to strike a seven-figure deal to work on Alvarez’s debut feature, which will be an alien invasion story. (El Pais puts the budget of the planned feature between $30 and $40 million.)
Think Panic Attack shows signs of genius? I’m a fan of new voices and nontraditional methods of entering the Hollywood moneycult, so put me in the “enthusiastic and curious” camp. What about you, PopWatchers? Are you tired of robo-apocalypse movies, or is that like being tired of sex and candy?
Watch The Rock's 'Tooth Fairy' trailer, then 'fess up. Will you sit through it?
I am a sucker for a Dwayne Johnson kid film. I recently stumbled upon the end of The Game Plan on cable and did not turn the channel. That could explain why I’m loving the trailer for his latest film, Tooth Fairy. He plays the meanest man in hockey, who, after dashing a kid’s dreams, is ordered to serve time in a satin-shirt-and-tights ensemble. Julie Andrews costars as some type of Tooth Fairy administrator, The Office‘s Stephen Merchant as some kind of watcher, and Billy Crystal as some sort of low-budge technology expert (shrinking paste, invisibility spray, Cat Away™, amnesia dust). The film appears to have everything a six-year-old and I need: at least one America’s Funniest Home Videos-style crotch shot (I suspect there will be others) and multiple blows to the head. I’m not saying it’s not predictable, I’m saying that predictable, if done well, can be entertaining and make you wish you had a small child to take to the theater as a cover. Poll!
'Brothers & Sisters' recap: Sweet little lies, plus the world's gayest bachelor party!
There was so much done right in this episode (i.e. Saul saying it would be weeks until the investigators knew what happened in WineGate 2009, so we knew we wouldn’t be seeing Ryan!) that we’re going to forgive the writers for bringing Tommy back next week for “the emotional episode of the season.” (What do you think that means? I’m guessing Rebecca starts to miscarry at the wedding, and it’s a cliffhanger.)
Let’s dive in. We had the return of the popular Walker Sibling Phone Tree™ after Kitty walked in on Nora and Simon having relations in the shower and, naturally, had to call Sarah because Robert didn’t give her the horrified reaction she was looking for (“Good for her,” he said. “It’s a whole new day in Pasadena.”) Kevin, unfortunately, also chose to call Sarah at that moment to tell her that he and Scotty were having their sperm counts tested (“I’m not at work. I’m waiting for my husband to finish masturbating”) and he had to hear about Nora’s afterglow before going in to make his deposit. (“There’s not a DVD in the whole of West Hollywood that could counteract what I just heard.”) I’m sorta happy that Scotty has better swimmers: It’s always fun to see Kevin competitive, and it set Sarah up for another zinger (“Oh, by the way, I’m glad Scotty’s sperm’s better than yours — us Walkers need to stop reproducing”).
