World Series! So who are you rooting for? Yanks? Phils? 'Glee'?

Filed under: Glee, Television and tagged: , ,

rodriguez-glee_lWeather permitting, the World Series begins tonight in New York, pitting the revered Yankees against the defending champion Philadelphia Phillies. It’s a great baseball matchup (even if you’re a miserable Mets fan who’s genetically programmed to despise both teams), featuring MVP winners like Alex Rodriguez (pictured) and Ryan Howard and the unintentional comedy of Phillies skipper Charlie Manuel, who is a jarring reminder that baseball should end the tradition of coaches wearing uniforms.

But maybe you could care less who wins the Series. Maybe the next week or so is just a rude interruption of your TV time. Sure, MLB and Fox have arranged for the cast of Glee to sing the national anthem before Game 3 in Philadelphia. But I don’t think that’s going to placate fans of the Fox show, who must be rooting for a quick four-game sweep so that their characters can return promptly next Wednesday.

Glee is not the only victim. Fans of Bones, Fringe, and the Sunday night cartoon lineup are out of luck as well. If you’re not a fan of the sport (You commie!), which shows will you be sampling on other stations while I’m second-guessing late-inning pitching changes and taking bets on CC Sabathia’s actual weight?

Absolutely, positively, rooting for the Phillies! I will be watching every second of the Series, but I am probably in a small demographic of huge Phillies Fans & Gleeks. I will content myself with rewatching old episodes on off nights and, of course, enjoying the anthem on Saturday. Fellow Philadelphians, please be polite to the Glee cast!

I love Glee, and it has really been getting good as of late, but being from Philadelphia and living here, I’m rooting for the Phillies and the cast singing at Citizen Bank Park!

    Go Phillies!!!!!!!!!!

  • MWC

With all the off days scheduled this post-season, it will be Christmas before the World Series is over. Playoff baseball in NOVEMBER is ridiculous.

  • Krista

    Definitely the Phillies!!

I highly recommended that all of the displaced Gleeks out there switch to ABC from 9-10 for their genius pairing of Modern Family and Cougar Town, if they haven’t already.

That’s exactly what I’m doing – I normally dvr those shows. I like CT and LOVE MF, but….Glee! I hate that it’s not on tonight. I’ll be watching the national anthem and then hoping for a sweep so we can get back to Glee next week. Sorry baseball! But I’m Canadian. Baseball is to us what hockey is to you guys.

My first love is the Red Sox, but even if they weren’t playing the the yankees I would probably root for the Phillies. So:

    GO PHILLIES!!

And as long as the yankees don’t win, I’ll be okay missing :)

I was thinking the A’s didn’t make it-so I will go for the Philly’s Do not like NY

  • Jill

    Go Yanks!

And I agree with MWC….what is with the November playing?

I dispise how baseball pre-empts so much tv (at least Football is fairly predictable on how long it will run). Nevermind the fact that it’ll be November next week and Baseball is supposed to be a summer sport. They really need to shorten the season by a solid two months.

My sport it is Basketball prempts NHRA ALWAYS!! I agree-finish baseball early, it is getting too much like NASCAR-everyday and longer seasons

  • Mavis
