Bill Murray says 'Charlie's Angels' director 'deserves to die'

In an interview with the Times of London, Bill Murray excitedly discussed his new film, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and also revisited some less-than-happy memories of movies past. After raving about his Mr. Fox director, Wes Anderson, Murray was asked about some other directors he had worked with over the years. And when the conversation circled around to his Charlie’s Angels director, McG, the funnyman went to a very dark place.

When asked about McG’s recent claim that Murray had head-butted him on the set of 2000’s Charlie’s Angels during a creative flair-up, Murray replied, “That’s bulls—! That’s complete crap!” The 59-year-old actor then added, “I don’t know why he made that story up. He has a very active imagination…No! He deserves to die!” Then Murray gets specific (and creative) as to how McG should, in fact, meet his demise. “He should be pierced with a lance, not head-butted.”

Whether or not the head-butt incident did go down as McG claimed, the article cites another incident during the making of the film, where Murray got into a tiff with costar Lucy Liu, allegedly telling her that she couldn’t act while she also allegedly threw punches in return. Murray tries to explain the spat in the Times article, saying, “Look, I will dismiss you completely if you are unprofessional and working with me…When our relationship is professional, and you’re not getting that done, forget it.”

    Right on Bill Murray.

What a ridiculously misleading headline. Murray is obviously joking.

I don’t know if McG deserves to die, but he certainly shouldn’t be directing films. Ah what the heck, kill him anyway.

Wow, Jeff, welcome to media 101, they put a headline that was misleading???!!!!! NO F’N WAY. Whats next? EW does an article about vampires?

Bill Murray is one of the world’s BEST at dry, subtle and ironic humor, so it’s no surprise that it goes over some reporters’ heads. However, I also agree with him, that people should act professionally no matter what profession they are in.

I can see Lucy Liu not taking criticism about her acting skills very well, I can also see Bill telling her just so to her face. Bill is quite talented and probably has an ego to match but some people need to be told to step up to the plate or it hurts the whole project.

Supposedly, Liu was also telling him how to “act funny” which probably led to him getting angry with her. A comedian doesn’t want to hear from someone who isn’t funny on how to act funny.

But anyway, I’m sure Bill’s sentiments echo those of Terminator fans after that fiasco McG movie!

I love Bill Murray. LOVE HIM. As an ACTOR. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a complete *ssh*le to work with. He’s gotten into so many arguments with coworkers over the years. Who knows about head-butting and fists flying. To me, it doesn’t really matter. I prefer to love him onscreen and not know about the possible jerk he is offscreen.

Since when is joking about killing someone supposed to be funny? You guys are ridiculous.

I certainly do hate McG. The douchiness that goes into nicknaming oneself McG alone is worthy of a good lancing.

I remember an article about Tracy Morgan talking about his SNL co-stars and he was raked over the coals! Bill Murray does the exact thing and people love him for it? Could it be that one is darker than the other one? Just asking!

I love both Bill Murray and Tracy Morgan. Chris Kattan can suck it.

  • John T.

I don’t care what happened on set. Charlies Angels is still one of my guilty pleasures.

  • izikavazo

So no Charlies Angels 3 with Bosley? Too bad. (I’m being serious, I actually loved those movies.)
