When news broke of three-time Daytime Emmy-winner Jonathan Jackson’s return to General Hospital as Lucky Spencer on October 27, fans were abuzz. And why not? He’s the actor many of us fell in love with first as the on-the-run spawn of Luke and Laura Spencer, then as the stalwart love of beautiful Elizabeth Webber. It was his face we mourned when we thought Lucky had died in a fire. His return has us harkening back to the good old days of the Fab Four –Lucky, Elizabeth, Emily, and Nikolas. Emily may be killed off now but the other three (including the original Nikolas — Tyler Christopher) are embroiled in a love triangle…unbeknownst to Lucky. The departing Greg Vaughn has done an admirable job with a character who’s been written as earnest (he’s Johnny Law to his father’s rebel) if not the brightest bulb (a girlfriend’s fake pregnancy, Elizabeth’s carrying another man’s child). But there’s plenty of hope that Jackson, who’s been on shows like Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, will bring back the warm fuzzy feelings that many had for the show back when he was there.

I think both Greg and Jonathan are awesome. I’ll miss Greg but thankfully they chose a terrifc replacement, the original Lucky.

Agreed. I stopped watching around 1999 when I finished college. But I always enjoyed Luke and old school Lucky’s performances. It’s hard to adjust to all the new people, though.
I was so incredibly excited when I read that he was coming back – he, LIz, and Emily were my absolute favorite characters when I was growing up. I really can’t stand the new Lucky character (no offense to Greg Vaugn) who is a wimpy, clueless idioy, so I am sooo ready to go back to the Lucky I loved! Let’s bring back Amber Tamblyn while we’re at it!
The Lucky/Liz/Nikolas triangle is going to be awesome! I’ve been wishing for Jonathan Jackson’s return for years. Now all they need is Genie Francis back, and Port Charles would be complete.
I so agree. They tried to do a Nik/Lucky/Webber girl triangle back in the day with Sarah but it didn’t work. I can’t wait to see what will happen especially since the Cassadine are coming for revenge. Niz may not be popular but I’m a LizFF so I am a fan of all her stuff. I stopped watching GH when Liason broke up but started when Niz started. I’m so excited JJ is coming back. No offense to Greg V but his Lucky was horrible except for Lucky/Sam. One of the hottest couples on daytime. I also agree with Abby, Emily was killed off and sadly they bought back that drab girl as Emily’s look a like. Please get rid of her.
I hope Genie Francis comes back again while JJ is there. I would love to see all the Spencers together again, especially since soaps seem to be on their way out.
I have to agree! I miss seeing all the Spencers, and Nik. Right now, I was not happy with the lackluster Lucky (and he did a great Dan, on Charmed, so it may just not have been Greg’s character), and would love to see Laura snap out of it…again.
so excited, and I do not watch GH anymore. I really hated how they have written Lucky the past few years, not sure if that will change, but I will definitely be checking it out again.
I’m super-duper excited for Jonathan’s return. And with Becky still playing Elizabeth, that’s going to be fun. (Maybe they’ll bring back Lucky’s talent for song – ah, at karaoke!) My first vivid memory of GH is the week that everyone thought Lucky died in the apartment fire. And after mourning, crying all week – the Friday kicker was that he was alive! I remember yelling & screaming at the TV – I couldn’t believe it. Who would’ve thought the original Lucky would return – can’t wait for 10/27!
A Lucky/Liz/Nik triangle is forced, lame, contrived and stupid. Thanks GH for runining JJ’s return but hey at least GV is free from the mess that is GH.
Love seeing JJ back. Stopped watching after the Cassadine- Spencer war ended in 2001. Restarted again recently (DOn’t know why) anbd this guy playing Lucky seems like a completely different character. Can’t wait to see the intensity of JJ and ANthony Geary play off each other. And with James Franco coming on to most likely be the new evil Cassadine it will be very interesting.
The new Cassidine is going to be played by another actor. James Franco’s character is a new one that will be involved with Jason, but not a Cassidine.
It’s so great that the original Lucky will be back on the show, but did they have to get rid of Greg Vaughn?!??!?!?! Can’t they keep him on the show and turn him into another character? Geez. First Alan, then Emily, now this travesty.
I think they could have brought JJ back and still let Greg Vaughn remain as Lucky. Why didn’t they make JJ Lukes long lost son instead of bringing in the new comer to play Ethan. Greg Vaughn will be greatly missed. He made Lucky what he today.
Thaaaat’s where I know that kid from! General Hospital! I would watch him on TSCC and could never place him, but I wasn’t bothered enough to look him up on imdb. I used to watch GH as a kid after school but I stopped watching after he got replaced… the ‘Fab Four’ just wasn’t the same after that.
The only real, true Lucky. Best actor ever. Now if they’d just make it more about the rest of Port Charles and less about the mobsters. Less Sonny and his badly acted kids.
Oh well.
I was so happy to hear about J.J. coming back, I think his chemistry with Elizabeth is amazing and I always wished they were a real couple. But, I thought Gregg did a good job and kept the Lucky character sweet and warm…though I did not think his chemistry with Liz was as intense. But it is not Gregg’s fault that they did not give him enough story, etc….I really hope he Wants to leave and is not being Fired…I would not respect that, no matter how much I love J.J….I hope Gregg gets a GREAT job!
BTW…I don’t mind the triangle thing with Lucky/Liz/Nik…but now I hope that she ends up with Lucky and they create that old magic again. And as I said, I wish Gregg the best of luck, he seems like a wonderful man.
Wow! The REAL LUCKY is back!!! WooHoo…thank you, Jon, for returning to PC – we all LOVE you! JJ is not only an awesome Lucky, but an awesome musician, song writer and person. I have been fortunate enough to get to know him some over the past few years and he and his family are truly amazing. I am so excited to see him back…but sad not to have him up here in Washington.

That’s how I feel. Even if it’s only for 6 mo, it’s better than not having him at all. Seeing the video montage of him made me so nostalgic. I absolutely loved him as Lucky and will tape every show now that he is back!!!

Yahoo, I am so glad they brought back the original Lucky.. the new one didn’t even look like luke or laura.. JJ is the Best and Only lucky in my eyes.. they should just make the whole love triangle thing a Dream… ala Bobby in the shower on Dallas..lol
