Admittedly, I don’t keep up with SpongeBob SquarePants the way I do with, say, Lost or Medium or Melrose Place. But this exclusive clip from Truth or Square, a one-hour special airing Nov. 6, 8:00 p.m. EDT, on Nickelodeon, has me wondering if maybe I should. I mean, seriously, SpongeBob getting married to Sandy? A primitive multicellular beastie betrothed to a squirrel? I can’t say I saw these nuptials coming!
Fortunately, a Nickelodeon publicist sent me a release putting the ceremony in context. Truth or Square — narrated by Ricky Gervais and featuring Rosario Dawson, Craig Ferguson, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, LeBron James, Pink, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and Robin Williams — will piece together never-before-seen flashbacks of SpongeBob and his pals after they get trapped inside Krusty Krab’s freezer during the restaurant’s “eleventy seventh” birthday. And apparently, the SpongeBob-Sandy ceremony is one of the Very Special Moments being revisited for the first time. Press play below for a glimpse of a moony-eyed SpongeBob in love. You may never look at Bikini Bottom the same way again.
Just a heads up, the squirrel’s name is Sandy, not Wendy. Hope that helps!

This is a flashback? how could this be a flashback? in recent episodes spongebob and sandy never even looked at each other. maby they could fall in love in the movie but if this is a flash back then im pissed.

Wait, Vincent? Like Vincent Waller? Like the Vincent Waller who appeared in the credits just as the show started down hill? If it is, no offense but I liked the show when Drymon was the creative director, but not with Waller. I’m not saying it’s you. I just have to wonder if whoever’s bright idea this was also decided to make Squidward ink… >:(

I don’t know whether to laugh over this or actually aww over it! So cute, I used to watch spongebob when I was young so it is a cherished part of my childhood (Albiet one I’ll NEVER admit to!) The sad thing is that I actually expected this!

Ha ha ha! Spandy, I love it! My first child was born the same year Spongebob premiered, so Spongebob is a part of our household. I don’t think a day goes by where we don’t quote that show somehow. Spandy… still chuckling…

This is absolutely adorable! I just love their eyes! It’s about time Spongey found love! Man, I grew up with this show. I’ve always thought Spandy would make a great couple but I never imagined it would get this far!
I do not accept this. Spongebob has done everything but carry a rainbow flag and now he’s marrying a female mammal? This is just sad. I used to actually be a fan of this show (sadly), but then they started heavily censoring it and I dropped out. Sorry, Squarecheeks, maybe next time.

Do not want Spongebob and Sandy to get married. I think it will definitely make the show weird, and detract from it’s charm.
