'Ugly Betty' promos released -- but will you watch?

ABC has just released promo shots for the fourth season of Ugly Betty (premiering Oct. 9 Oct. 16, as of this afternoon), and, boy, do they look pretty or what? Looking at the photos, it doesn’t take a Henry-like genius to understand that this season will likely focus on blossoming. How else would you explain all the attention to butterflies? (Unless, of course, the show’s producers are trying to court a one Mariah Carey.)

But the biggest draw for the season: Betty’s long-awaited makeover. I’m glad the show didn’t go overboard on this one — girl still is sporting the red-framed glasses — but it’s only logical that Betty would have dropped the poncho after several years at Mode. (Now, if only they’d do something about those braces, if only for the sake of America Ferrara’s makeup artist.) But, folks, the real question here is: Are these shots enough to draw you into the show? Will Betty’s make-over convince you to set your DVRs? Sadly, even though the show has hardly dipped in quality throughout the years, Betty’s ratings just aren’t what they used to be. And with ABC moving the series to a Friday death-slot, the once-beloved program seems poised for cancellation. But for the love of Judith Light, don’t let it be so!

Will you watch, fellow Betty fans? Or are you done with the show like Wilhelmina’s done with tunics?

    I will watch, it’s a great show

This is one of the only shows that I’ve been eagerly awaiting its return. Even if it did move to Friday, there’s no way I would miss any lines from Zing-Queens Wilhemina, Marc and Amanda.

I am looking forward to the premiere and to seeing Betty’s transformation. I really hope the move to Fri night doesn’t mean the end of the show – there’s nothing like it on TV. Such unique and funny characters: Betty, Mark, Amanda and especially Wilhemina – can somebody please give Vanessa Williams an award already!

I will definitely DVR it, but I am not usually home on Fridays to watch. Hopefully Betty will survive!

Yes, Yes of course! I can’t wait. So sad to see UB’s gradual demise in the ratings. I’m not sure it will survive for too long, but if ABC does cancel it I hope it gives it a full season and time to resolve storylines. And yes! I agree about the braces. Nobody, nobody, has braces on for 4 years!!

I will watch but sad to hear they moved it to Fridays. I hope enough follow to keep the show on the air. Networks don’t give shows enough of a chance sometimes to thrive.

I will watch but I fear the show is slipping into a corner

I’ll definitely be watching. I can’t wait for the new season to finally start. And honestly, I’m typically home on Friday nights, especially in the winter, so it’ll be nice to have something I love to watch.

Love Betty – welcome back! So glad they moved to Friday — there was too much on Thursday for even my DVR to handle!

I have a 3 year old and another on the way and I can’t remember the last time I went out on a Friday night. I have been dying for a good show to be on Friday nights (no DVR at my house) so yes, I will be home to watch and I’m very excited.

I agree with Genie. It’s a great show and I won’t miss it for anything!

Put a fork in it, it’s done!

With ABC tragically canceling Samantha Who, I will cling onto Betty faithfully. The cast has so much underused power and explosive potential. They should move DWTS to 7pm on Tuesday, and put Betty after it. At any rate, I can’t wait to see how Daniel deals with Molly’s death, see Hilda get an actual storyline, more Marc & Amanda, and hopefully the return of Connor won’t be fruitless…

But why not just cancel it? When networks move new shows to Friday because they aren’t garnering reasonable ratings, that certainly is the kiss of death, but it would make no sense for ABC to move Ugly Betty to Fridays because cancellation was inevitable. The ratings for the latter half of last season were cancellation worthy. They might be able to justify lower ratings on a Friday then they could on a Thursday. I don’t necessarily think that this spells the end. We’ll see.

    nope. why start now
