'Expendables' exclusive: Sylvester Stallone talks '$15 billion' scene with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis

The-Expendables_lWe’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: we couldn’t be more pumped for Sylvester Stallone’s all-star action extravaganza, The Expendables. If you’ve been tracking this pecs-pumping, pyrotechnics-palooza with us, then you’re already hip to the summer 2010 film’s hulking, Who’s Who he-man cast (Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, etc.). You’ve also seen the early photos of a tattooed and totally ripped Stallone and heard that Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger would drop by for cameo appearances, pretty much cementing the film as a one-stop shopping site for ’80s blow-’em-up blockbuster lovers. And, more recently, you’ve been with us as we shared the movie’s rowdy, red-meat trailers. Well, now we have something new on The Expendables front — an exclusive from the director and star of the film: Stallone himself.

Recently, we reached the Rambo star by phone as he was taking a break from watching the dailies of his mercenaries-on-a-mission flick. And the scene he was watching was none other than the one that every card-carrying action aficionado has been awaiting with baited breath — the scene that finally brings together the holy trinity of ’80s tentpoles: Stallone, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Here’s what Sly had to say… (Read full post)

Halloween's best TV: Spooky viewing if you're sticking close to home tonight

Categories: Uncategorized

Maybe you never quite got around to assembling the perfect Peggy Olson costume, and you’d rather stay at home than be seen in last year’s Holly Golightly again. Or maybe you’d prefer giving candy to the kiddies to braving the masses of be-costumed drunks. In any case, you need something spooky to watch tonight after dark, and God knows that if you didn’t get on the costume thing, you didn’t stock up on holiday-appropriate Netflix picks either. Good news: TV is totally on it! AMC concludes its week-long “FearFest” movie marathon with a remastered version of Night of the Living Dead at 8 p.m. If you like your scary tales with a touch of Us Weekly – or at least a touch of a onetime guest star on Rescue Me (Gina Gershon) and the fourth Ghostbuster (Ernie Hudson) — there’s Bio Channel’s Celebrity Ghost Stories from 8 to 11 p.m. Ghost Hunters on Syfy goes live at 7 p.m. with an investigation of the former Essex County Hospital in New Jersey; Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures does the same, with investigators locked for seven hours in the allegedly haunted Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in West Virginia starting at 5 p.m. And for the gentler spirits among us, WE is running Ghost at 10 p.m.

What will you be watching tonight to celebrate, PopWatchers?

'Ugly Betty' Bites: 19 hilarious lines from last night's episode!

ugly-betty_lDespite the increasing chatter that ABC’s Ugly Betty has gone the way of shoulder pads—that’d be out—last night’s episode was still loaded with some of the best one-liners anywhere on TV. And how about Betty and Marc dressed as a hot dog and a bun? Classic. But back to those great lines from last night. Here are my faves:

“Wow, look at that giant pile!” —Amanda, talking about the load of files that Betty was toting around the office

“I know, and it’s carrying all those papers.” —Marc, referring instead to Betty as a pile

“Oh I’m sorry, I couldn’t hear you over your loud shirt.” —Betty, getting sassy after Marc continues to insult her (Read full post)

'Project Runway Talk': Logan talks getting the 'hottie' treatment

Though his superhuman powers of near-invincibility helped him outlast Ra’mon, Epperson, and Shirin, the time finally came for Logan to pack up his zippers and head on home. The morning after his elimination episode aired (which he hadn’t even seen yet, ’cause his New York hotel room didn’t have Lifetime!), Mr. Neitzel stopped by planet Project Runway Talk. I tried to get him to accept some gorgeous plastic pink zippers, but to no avail! Fortunately, Dalton and I had better luck getting him to chat about Althea’s accusations of design thievery, how it felt to be the designated “hottie” of season six, and whether or not his designs exclude 90 percent of the American population. Click below to witness his coldhearted rejection of my colorful gift!

'Sound Bites': Your favorite TV clip this week?

This week, in an extra-creepy Sound Bites: Michael Scott can’t suit his way out of inadequacy, Castle pays homage to Firefly, Natalie Portman trips out on Top Chef, 30 Rock’s Jenna spoils the secret behind Lost, and much more. Oh, and everyone gets to dress up for Halloween, even delusional entertainment writers who think half-baked Dancing With the Stars costumes are fabulous. Vote for your favorite featured clip after the jump, or nominate your own in the comments! If you have noms for next week’s show, email me or tweet them to @EWAnnieBarrett. Boo.

Alynda Wheat's Beat Cop: 'The Mentalist' and 'Castle,' tricks and treats

mentalist_lI love Halloween episodes. They’re less cheesy than Valentine’s Day drivel, and generally funnier than Christmas and Thanksgiving episodes (plus, we don’t have to deal with guest-star relatives). This All Hallows Eve week we got two gems: The Mentalist and Castle. Since y’all always say I give The Mentalist and Criminal Minds short shrift, I’ll start with the faux-psychic (particularly since there was no meeting of the Minds this week).

Anybody who’s been watching procedurals as long as we have (I know you’re out there, McMillan & Wife fans) has to appreciate the occasional homages to Columbo thrown into The Mentalist. In Thursday’s episode, Jane (Simon Baker) tracked down the murderer of an architect almost no one seemed to like much. Was the killer the wife he once cheated on? The lady whose family manse he bought? The ghost of the mausoleum’s original owner? Nope, none of the above. (Read full post)

Get ready for the 'Ally McBeal' reunion

Categories: DVD/Video, Television

I walked into a ladies’ room here at Time Inc. the other day and there was a man changing the paper towels. And immediately, I thought to myself, “Ally McBeal had to put up with this every day.” So, the show has definitely had some lasting cultural influence on me. If you are a fan of the show, get ready for the two-part reunion special on Good Morning America on Monday and Tuesday (Nov 2-3) during its 8 a.m. hour. To whet your appetite for all things Ally, here is a clip from the new DVD package Ally McBeal: The Complete Series, with cast members Calista Flockhart, Jane Krakowski, Courtney Thorne-Smith and Gil Bellows talking about those famous unisex bathrooms. (And if you’re wondering, paper towel guy exited as soon as I came in. No weirdness.)

Weekend Box Office Poll: What will you see? 'This Is It'? 'Paranormal Activity'?

Categories: Uncategorized

Halloween Day, as we all know, is not so much about movie-going (it’s more about this), which means that it might be a rather slim weekend at the box-office since the holiday falls on a Saturday this year. But with Michael Jackson’s This Is It enjoying its first weekend in theaters and Paranormal Activity still spooking audiences, a few of you are bound to head out to the multiplex. EW’s box office guru Nicole Sperling predicts that This Is It will take the weekend, in terms of viewers and dollars, followed then by Paranormal Activity, Law Abiding Citizen, Where the Wild Things Are, and Couples Retreat.

But screw all that box office science and predictions and whatnot. We’re doing our own pre-weekend poll here: What’re you, our beloved EW.com readers, planning to see this weekend? Tell us in the poll below!

Celebrity Halloween: Who had the best costume on TV?

halloween-costumes-tv_l

There’s nothing like a TV character in costume to remind you that you still do not have a Halloween costume. (Wonder how many Facebooks we’ll see tomorrow night?) I’ll run down my list of the best, worst, and weirdest costumes of the week — including Mal, “Bookface,” and “Italian Senator” — after the jump… (Read full post)
