Am I the only one who thinks Violet (Ashley Simpson) is a horrible actress? I like her in real life, but can’t get past how bad she is. It really ruins the show for me.
My favorite character is the doctor/prostitute. She is the only reason I am continuing to watch.
No, she sucks. Okay, that was too harsh. She is not good at all! I know we are not talking about 90210 and I hate to say this but have to. Is it me or is Rumor Willis strange looking? I could not stop looking at her very large very noticeable jawline/chin!
I don’t understand how any of you like this show! The first episode was so bad but b/c I’m a HUGE fan of the original I stuck around and enjoyed the second episode. BUt enough with the bad dialogue. And Jane? A mean heartless bitch? I mean she did some crazy stuff during season 4 and 5 but come on! That is not the Jane I loved! BTW her poolside catfight with Sydney is epic and classic. Can’t replicate the original.
Kimber from Nip/Tuck popped up last night. I guess that is the only role she can play. She was in Made of Honor and played a gold digger.

I thought this was the first truly good episode of the new series so far. The boring Riley and Jonah bits were kept to a minimum, and Jane’s comeback rocked. I’ll take bitchy Jane over boring Jane any day. I was hesitant initially about the character of Violet and Ashlee’s acting, but it seems like they are building her up to possibly go nuts, which would be sweet. She seems to play crazy well.

I loved Jane last night! Hope she’s back next week, I think Josie Bissett is doing two episodes and Daphne ZUniga (Jo) is on for one. Jane needs to come face-to-face with Michael. Also I want an explanation as to what’s happened to her over the last ten years. When Melrose Place 1.0 ended in 1999, Jane was with Kyle (Rob Estes, also real life husband to Josie Bissett) and they were going to raise the baby Jane had conceived with Michael. What h appened to Kyle and Jane’s relationship? Also they better not leave out how Sydney came into possession of the building – when the show ended, the building was owned and managed by Lexi (Jamie Luner, seasons 6 and 7).
Good question. What happened to the baby girl she conceived with Michael? Did Kyle divorce her and move back to Boston? Or is Kyle in the witness protection program, relocated to Beverly Hills, remarried, has a job at WBH and now calling himself Harry Wilson?
It’s obvious the show has no respect for past viewers, in an interview with Daphne Zuniga she mentions the writers asking her questions about her character on the old show and what happened to her and what she was like…you would think they could watch the DVDs of a show they are revamping to see what made it a guilty pleasure of the 90s!!! Ashlee simpson is horrible, her and her lame o emo husband, Fall Out Boy who basically says he’s out to make money and doesn’t care about his fans. Ashlee cannot act and her wide eyed look is getting old really fast. She better start wielding a knife or hopping into bed with Auggie soon before I hit mute. Four episodes so far and I have not been surprised once.

I was barely a teenager when the old MP ended, and now that I think back on it that show was very good but also very campy. The new version is lot of more smart with great acting and good writing. Sometimes it feels like I’m watching CSI which is good since that is a high rated show on tv. I was little prepared to be bored out my mind with Jane on this epi. But wow did they rewrite Jane. The Jane I remember was not this worth watching. I know Josie Bisset was happy as hell when she got that script and got to play the b*tch for once. If its this good just by bringing back Jane I can’t wait for them to bring back Jo and Amanda.
They should’ve let Laura Leighton continue on the show instead of killing her off. She was the best actress on the original MP. Get rid of Ashley Simpson. She’s the Amy Locane of this show.Also, I’m a guy but even I knew that dress of Jane’s was butt ugly as hell.
I really hate what they’ve done to Michael, Jane and Sydney. They are all good actors and it would have been better to mellow them, and have them act as foils to the little brats. There could also be some tender moments with Michael and Jane.
The show is on the wrong track, and is doomed to be a one season wonder, if it lasts that long.
There’s just nothing about the charcters that’s very interesting, and a lot that is irritating.
