Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz on 'Leno': Count the awkward pauses!

Last night’s second episode of The Jay Leno Show introduced a new segment, TEN@TEN, during which Jay “makes house calls” via satellite video to stars. New cohabitants Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz answered 10 completely unrelated questions from the set of their 2010 film Wichita, which is obviously being filmed in Worcester, Mass. The whole interview — embedded after the jump, due to auto-play — is pretty surreal (and at times Suri-eal, whoa!) and stilted except for the 20 or seconds during which the pair bicker in the style of an online-dating success story commercial about who laughs more. He laughs all the time! It’s nonstop with her! Constantly laughing! First thing in the morning, it’s like “Cameron, please!” Get ready to sign up for eHarmony, y’all.

Also, wait a minute: Does the public really want to know about Tom Cruise’s strip club agenda and whether he’s better at flying or sex?

I hated 10 @ 10. Actually, the whole show was pretty bad. It was like watching a family’s vacation videos. It’s obvious that they’re having fun, but it is not fun watching it.

  • Casey

Prob. worst show on TV right now.

  • Rose

I found the whole show very uncomfortable and unfun. I can’t believe all these celebs (Cruise, Diaz, and Oprah) are doing their interviews by video. It’s boring and I doubt I’ll watch again.

It was awkward and boring. And also seemed designed to make the celebrities look cozy while dealing with soft, cosmo quiz like questions

  • Cheryl

That was so awkward and unfunny. I’ve noticed before that they both laugh too much, when things are not even funny.

    • karyl

really? your life must be so lonely that you’re so grumpy grandma

  • Jami

Hard to believe but I don’t care what food they like or what they sing to their kids. I don’t dislike Jay, but I’m not a fan. This isn’t going to make me change my mind.

    bunch of negative nancy’s…lol.
I liked it,it made me smile.

I quite honestly love the interviews with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. I just could not stop smiling, can’t wait for movie to come out.

  • Leno will fail…

..thankfully. The man never deserved the Tonight Show to begin with.

    • unonomous

Are you kidding? That is just a STUPID comment.

  • Letterman is better

this was PAINFUL last night. I love Cameron Diaz, and she was cute, but couldn’t save the awkwardness of it all. Tom came off as smug, but I can’t judge him too much because the questions were SUPER painful and pointless

Tom Cruise has so much to hide about himself that it’s not even funny.

This segment was the first time – and likely the last – that I will watch Jay Leno’s show. Ye gods that was bad.

Your very right Summer, a bunch of negative nancy’s on this site. You know they love him otherwise why would they even comment on this post? It’s like if you did not like a certain type of food. You would not search for it; you wouldn’t even talk about it unless it was offered to you. This post was not even offered or emailed to anyone, so all that means is that these people where searching for Tom Cruise. They like him so much that they logged in a made a comment about him and Cameron Diaz. That shows you that they care for both of them. No one comments on people they do not like.

Love you Tom and Cameron. :)

you need to be less myopic in your thinking. there are actual reasons why people might not like leno and his shows, and they would comment on it. are you new to the internet?!

    • karyl

same here jason! i love tom & cameron! esp. tom! such a nice great guy with wonderful movies that is why he is so envied by these losers & lonely souls..i pity them

  • haasmackie

Really, Jason? Have you ever read the Interwebs? It’s filled with nothing but comments from people about other people they do not like. Without these people, the Internets would not likely even exist. I don’t care what Gore said.

Oh wait. Here I am posting. Must mean I love Tom and Cameron. Yea, sure.

What is wrong with you people? Jay’s doing something that no one’s done before. Last night was better than Monday, and in another week, you’ll be watching and laughing and wishing he were on 2 hours every night. He’s a funny guy. He can’t help it if some of his guests are guarded. The press and blogs are looking to destroy their reputations. Grow up already.

      Your joking, right?
