'New Moon' trailer leak: More Volturi, more Edward, more awesome!

The new Twilight Saga: New Moon trailer scheduled to premiere during tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards has leaked online. We presume the trailer is legit because it’s the best one yet with footage of the Volturi, who make the second film more than a tortured teen love story; shots of the wolf pack in which they do not look cuddly; and an Edward fight scene that might actually be worthy of the MTV Movie Award it will inevitably win. UPDATE: The official trailer is now below.

What do you think of the trailer? Join us for our VMA live blog tonight at 8 p.m. ET.

    Omfg…i cant wait!

    • Elizabeth

      Amen!

    • Cindy

Why did they have Rob P take such a backseat; they really need to have him out there; he is the star!

      • elvenangel

He took a back seat because in the book he runs away thinking Bella is better OFF and safer without him. You dont see him again physically in the book until the end to do anything different would diminish the effects that the move has on their relationship.

      • lishi

did you even read new moon?

      • Jae

Clearly, Cindy is one of those “Rob is god and we don’t care about anyone else” fans.

      • Tee

Give Cindy a break, so what if she didn’t spend sleepless nights with her face stuck in the book series giving up food and even reading on the potty. Some people don’t have obsessive behavior traits, K! Enjoy the movie, I’m campin’ out and embarressing my daughter by dressing like Victoria, LOL

      • meaghan cowles

I’m down with the dressing like vampires, the twilight saga has made vampires more beautifully breathtaking and desirable than ever, try that Bram Stoker!!! and yes i too will be a vampire for halloween, just waiting for my gold contacts to come in the mail!

      • Kimberly

Read the book New Moon and you will understand why he had to take a back seat.

  • miranda

    loves it.

  • Jessica Boyd

I got goose bumps watching the trailer! I, along with many others, are anticipating the suspense, dramatic return of the Twilight and its incredible cast!

    • meaghan cowles

who else cried when they read the books? or am i the only one, i bet i’m not, when edward calls jacob his son….

      • stacey

I cried too, i Cried when he left her in the forest, i cried when they got married and when he calles jacob his son.

      • Alicia

I’ve read the series 6 times, and I still cry every single time Edward leaves her. It kills me. I CAN’T WAIT! The trailer looks painfully good.

      • faith

omg that was soo kul but iam srry that was in eclipse u hav to get ur books right

  • Nic.

WOW!!!!! This looks so much better than the first film. Even if I wasn’t a fan of the books I would be excited to see this film. Chris Weitz is a genius! And thank you, EW, for posting this now so I don’t have to sit through the agony of the MTV video awards tonight!

    • Rae

Since movies are not books, I don’t expect that they will be 100 percent true to book. They have to make it flow but keep the base story. Lots of stuff was added to the first (security guard, tree climbing). I take it as a totally different vehicle than the book, then I am not disappointed.

  • Laci

Someone please tell me where the majority of what was shown in that trailer actually happened in the book…

    • doug

everything other than the fight scene and when jacob tells bella that edward didnt want her

    • Heather

Can you be specific? Have you read the book lately?

      • Nerwen Aldarion

He’s right, everything but the fist fight (which I like!) and Jacob reminded Bella that Edward didn’t want her (which I love) and yes I have read the book lately.

      • emmaf62

actualy the jacob talk does happen. The fight were Edward gets flung about, the bit were she says this might hurt a little and the bit were jacobs pack come out as humans

    • Kristie

The ONLY thing that doesn’t happen in the book is where Edward gets beat up from the looks of it. But why complain…this movie is looking GOOD!

      • robinho

the fight will just be a way to show the audience how Jane is hurting Edward, it would look dumb if he just strated rolling around in agony lol

      • Alicia

Amen! If Hollywood wants to beef up the action, I won’t be mad. The rest of it looks so good, I can hardly care.

    • maiv

I thought the same thing…not that I’ve read the bk, but even I was like, isn’t that the whole movie?…..

      • Kiera

I know right?!?! but i guess they figure if your a twilight fan then ur a twilight fanatic and already know what will happen…

    • mel

most movies dont go exactly the same as the books they use the books as a guide look at interview with the vampire and queen of the damned…. the are not exact to the books either. but all the same i hope you enjoy the movies as much as you enjoyed the books :)

    • ew-bot

i just finished reading the book today, and for sure they have to change things up, cause the book has so much that is just in Bella’s mind, that would be dull as kcuf to watch on screen. I hope the film is decent, but not the end of the world if it isn’t. Jacob actor looks like he’s doing a good job, Bella’s too. Edward smoking as ever. I hope there’ll be a good amount of stuff with her dad; I like that guy, and the dynamic in the pack has dramatic potential I hope they mined. My only real worries about the film are laughable cgi, and if the director chooses to show flash over emotional nuance.

    • Sarah D

I’m so irritated. There’s NO fight scene in the book, Laurent never lays a hand on the wolves (too scared) and Alice never tells Bella that she “knows too much”. I’ll watch it again, but I’m actually a little disappointed at the changes.

      • Rita

Alice tells her that she’s a human who knows too much and smells too good. As for Laurent and the wolves fighting, that was revealed a couple months ago so I’m okay with it. These movies need action to keep the energy up. It can be pretty boring to just sit and listen to dialogue for 2 hours. Filmmaking is about bringing a story to another level, seeing things you only imagined come to life. Hope you like the movie! It looks like it’ll be much better than the 1st.

      • Ruby

You’re being overly dramatic…they fight between the wolves and laurent was announced months ago and was stephanie meyer approved. Alice does tell Bella she knows too much…read the book girl. and NO movie based on a book can be word for word. New Moon is at a whole new level…i am excited.

      • Rori

ok the whole fight scene i think is what edward is experiencing in his mind as jane is unleashing her power on him. because she affects you mentally so i think he’s experiencing getting beat up in his mind thinking its real. thats why when its over he looks all crazy like in the trailer. thats my theory.

      • Paige

I think the fight scene ads to it though. We are left to our imagination what happens when the woves finally catch up to Laurent. This way, we can actually see what might have happened. Changes like that I’m okay with. And, the Volturi are supposed to be freakin’ scary as Hell, so the end scene is actually more feasible IMO. Regular vampires are supposed to be terrified of the Volturi and their Guard. I’m fine with both of these changes. So far, it’s looking pretty awesome. Lautner looks amazing, Stewart even looks prettier and does a better job acting. Pattinson is perfection!

    • Sarah D

I’m so irritated. There’s NO fight scene in the book, Laurent never lays a hand on the wolves (too scared) and Alice never tells Bella that she “knows too much”. I’ll watch it again, but I’m actually a little disappointed at the changes.

      • alisha

actually there is a fight scene in the book, but bella doesn’t see it so we only get the mention in the book. And the fight scene at the end is not all accurate but Edward does attack when Jane is told to try her power on Bella. Only Edward is restrained qucikly.

  • Lins

This is so much better than the first trailer! ! I was worried that it would be corny, but this looks awesome!

  • Stephanie

I can’t NOT wait. Novemeber is not coming fast enough!!!

  • Pslightly Psycho

    Amen brother!

  • darkestred

Looks great! 11/20 can’t get here fast enough!

  • mimi

OME!!! I was havin goosebumps when I watched the trailer. But two thumbs up to Chris Weitz. I knew he would redeem New Moon. I can’t wait for 11/20!!!

  • amanda

    i dont remember a fight scene….confused

    • Heather

There wasn’t one in the book. They have added it to make it more interesting.

    • Chris

I guess there was a fight seen but it was mostly in Edward’s head. I guess they decided to make it a little more visual for the audience’s excitement. I don’t mind. It looks fantastic.

  • danielle

there was nofight scene however i see the point, it is very hard to convey the feelings of the book during this part so to sum allof the emotion going on in everybody’s thoughts it had to be done and very well i might add. also i can’t wait until eclipse fight scenes, remember bella never saw the fight with the newborns edward was telling her what he saw so according to the stars of eclipse there will be fights scenes in that one also. i’m all for it

    • Heather

Agree. I like that there is more action. Unless people want Bella to narrate the entire movie, the addition of the action scenes are needed.

      • Nerwen Aldarion

        Amen!

  • Team Jacob

Laurent ran like a b*tch and was torn apart by the boy-wolves, not this Matrix sh*t, but l suppose it makes for more action than the book.

    • Jason

Matrix? lol, loser. sam in wolf form (sam is the black wolf) attacks and he backhands him, what Matrix is there?

  • beth

the movie looks like it’s going to be great. the colors and everything look awesome. i can’t wait to see it in november.

  • Bobby

Oh,I’m so excited I think I just wet myself. My life will not be complete until I see this movie. BARF!!!!!!

    • Heather

oh, go worship at the altar of Megan Fox, and please remove your negativity so the rest of us can bask in Twilight.
