Ellen on Idol !!!So much for tuning in this season. Will we be subjected to her inane dancing routines ??? What was “Idol” thinking ??? Sad, with so many more qualified candidates

You expressed how I feel much more eloquently than I could. AI has lost its focus. They’re ruining the show more completely every season. Why do they even need a fourth judge?

  • torrence5

In my opinion, the problem with AI using Ellen and even Kara is that neither has the experience of being a singing sensation, been on tour or (musical) concerts. Randy & Simon understand the music business & trends, but Paula was a musical star (and a MTV superstar) that experienced the musical scene as a singer & knows what futur AI contestants will face in the future in the music industry. Ellen is funny (a plus over Kara ) but probably as irrelevant as Kara.

you are the voice of the idol people…what you just said is sooo true….we need real judge with a real credibility and really knows what she is talking about while still having fun..i still say that:
number 1 biggest mistake a network has done in television history is letting paula go.
and number 2 biggest mistake a network has done in television history…bringing a comedian like ellen to judge a singing competition…

as far as i know, idol has jumped the shark and its over.

What were they thinking? Apparently nothing. Bad move! This show isn’t a comedy act. She will ruin it for me!

  • Kelly

Just a totally random thought. Makes about as much sense as microwavable milkshakes.

Well Im sure Mcpherson over at ABC is celebrating! He has a big reason to: DWTS chances to top Idol are now bigger than ever! If he can get Paula on board for the spring season, it will be a done deal. DWTS WILL be the new nr 1 show!

Thank you Fox. This is amazing. Ellen will inject a much needed lift
to the judges panel. A season with
Simon/Randy and yuck Kara would have been dreadful.
    Cant wait to see Ellen!!!!!!!

The show is lame anyway, so what if they add another useless person to it?

I am excited to see Ellen as a judge to represent the people’s point of view as she said. On SYTYCD she gave one of the most enlightened perspectives of the night on Evan when she talked about his face. It was brilliant. That’s exactly his large fan base was thinking and she was able to articulate it. And, I’m glad to see the Paula drama concluded. Paula did perhaps get a raw deal on her offer, but she blew her momentum in negotiations immediately afterwards.

I Love Ellen, but found it painful to watch her judge in SYTYCD- & this was after I had been looking forward to it. Neil Patrick Harris would have been a better choice for this-IMO.

  • Satchel

OMG I LOOVE Ellen- she will be incredible. YAY no more Paula/Simon
    banter. And Kara sucks

  • Doug

Sadly, American Idol celebrated their Swan Song last year. What a stupid decision for a judge for the (former) #1 show!

  • Patty

I think Idol has made some reckless decisions lately. It’s showing their desperation not their music or business sense. I like Ellen, but she is not a good fit for Idol. I really became a fan of Idol this year with the awesome contestants, but if the show goes in the direction I think it is, I’ll probably stop watching.

    Seriously?
