We here at EW might have mentioned it once or twice recently, but in case you didn’t get the memo: AMC’s stylish, Emmy Award-winning drama Mad Men is back on the air this Sunday with its season 3 premiere. Following in the grand tradition of complicated shows like Lost, AMC naturally put together a four-minute catch-up reel (granted, it’s a bit less frenetic than Lost‘s version) that quickly recaps season 4. Even if you didn’t watch the second season (which I recommend you do…now!), this will help you catch up for Sunday’s premiere:
I love this quick video because it really gets to the heart of all the rather unexplained drama that made season 2 so great: Don’s continued lying and affairs, the ongoing tragedy of Betty and her loneliness, Roger’s divorce, Peggy’s promotion and revelation to Pete that she had his baby, and Betty making the announcement that she’s pregnant yet again. The musical overlay sets the tone for everything so well, too. The pensive piano makes my skin crawl — in the best way. Like, somehow, it manages to take Men‘s season 2 theatrics even further.
Ahh, I can’t wait for Sunday! Even though a disc with the premiere episode has been floating around the EW offices, I chose to avoid and just enjoy the show in real time. It’s much better that way. Anticipation is half of it. So I’m still in the dark, wondering what’s gonna happen with the Sterling-Cooper takeover, Betty’s baby, the fallout between Pete and Peggy…and lots more.
PopWatchers, did the recap video stoke your excitement for season 3? What storylines are nagging at you most? Are you throwing a Mad Men viewing party — or what are your viewing plans?

I plan to have a MM S2 marathon this weekend to refresh my memory. All by myself, too, b/c I don’t want any distractions. Right now, I’m most interested in the Pete/Peggy storyline.
Can’t wait for Sunday night!!
I just watched the whole Season 2 on Free On Demand on my cable. It was great and took less than a week to watch like 13 episodes, plus a summary of season 1. If you have Free on Demand, check it out tomorrow for a marathon!
Oh, Tanner — you have more willpower than I do! I have been searching high and low for a screener, but now that Sunday is here – I’m going to make it after all.
Can’t WAIT!!
I haven’t seen Mad Men. It looks slow, but I’m sure it’s great. But, all this endless praise for it is getting a teensy bit annoying. Especially, when AMC has another show that is beyond amazing. Breaking Bad is perfection, but you guys don’t give it the time of day, except for Ken Tucker. It’s nuanced, and raw just like you claim Mad Men is. Share the love EW.
