After an eight-month delay that drove some fans to brink of madness, HarryPotter and the Half-Blood Prince finally hits theaters on July 15th — andEntertainment Weekly's new cover story is a behind-the-scenes exclusive on thefilm. Half-Blood Prince encompasses young love run amuck, secret missions, andimpending war. Most Hollywood insiders expect it to be one of the year's biggesthits, partly because it's rated a family-friendly PG, whereas the last two Potter films were PG-13. Still, it will be interesting to see how the movie's brand of innocentromance plays with young audiences smitten by the neo-goth sexiness of Twilight.Even Potter star Emma Watson read all four Twilight books after a friend turnedher onto the series last year. "I mean, I wouldn't say I was one of the psychofans," she says. "Absolute madness, that phenomenon, isn't it?"
As forthe Potter phenomenon, the movies are slowly coming to an end, with theremaining JK Rowling novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, to be splitinto two movies. During the production of Half-Blood Prince — the final chapterto be set within Hogwarts School — Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Watsonwore their characters' Gryffindor House robes for the last time. "I was like 'Burn it!' Oh my god, to be done with those shoes and that uniform — that was anexciting day," says Watson. Radcliffe adds, "When you're 18, one of the worstthings to be wearing while trying to chat up a girl on the set is a schooluniform. You look like a kid! You’re not going to score dressed like that!"
All of the stars are aware that pursuing acting will be tricky,post-Potter. Watson isn't even sure she wants to try. She's decided to go tocollege (at Columbia University, reportedly), but still has about a year of workon Deathly Hallows to finish first. "My world is still all about Harry Potter,"she says. "I really can't see anything beyond it." Radcliffe, on the other hand,is ecstatic about acting. "I have come to the conclusion that I am never happierthan when I am on a film set," he says. "This is what I want to be doing.Totally. Absolutely. Unequivocally!"
Production on the Deathly Hallowsmovies began last February and could stretch well into next year. For Grint andWatson, their hardest scene was (spoiler alert if you've never read the books!)a kiss between Ron and Hermione. "I remember being inches away from her lips andthinking, 'Good lord, this is going to be strange,'" says Grint. Adds Watson: "Rupert is like a brother to me, and our relationship couldn't be more platonic. So kissing him –- well, it felt like incest, to be honest. But I think it's goingto be very sweet."

I love it!! I can’t wait to buy it.
I still don’t see how Deathly Hallows is going to work as 2 films since most of the book was running around sulking in the forest. This could be cut out and focus mostly on the ending fight between Voldy and Harry.
I’m VERY disappointed to see this is only rated PG. The books are obviously M rated for Mature. There is no reason these movies should be played down just so loud, restless little kids can watch them. Hopefully our theater has a screen of this though with no children allowed after 7pm. I cannot stand when they ruin my movie experience.
I love this cover! They look so hot, especially Dan! I can’t wait to buy this, thank you!
Errm the fight between Voldy and Potter did not last that long in the novel. His speech to voldy was only wrap-up of everything already revealed prior to that. Splitting it into two films makes perfect sense, if they intend to do the Battle of Hogwarts correctly.
I am a little disappointed with the PG rating. This book was much darker then Order of the Phoenix. Still, I am excited and I’m sure will love it.
Rupert looks so hot all laid back like that. Him and Emma make a hot couple. I can’t wait to buy this!
AWW! They all look so pretty!!
These kids have grown up great. They all seem like tremendous people.
harry potter is brilliant!!!!!!
Shut up about Twilight. This is HARRY POTTER not Twilight.
Shut up about Twilight. This is HARRY POTTER – Twilight doesn’t need to be mentioned. Ugh.
What?? The HP uniforms are awesome!
Wow, Emma Watson just keeps getting hotter and hotter!
to Trent: The forest scene was one of the most important parts of the book. Seriously. That can not be cut out. I was crying reading that chapter because I could picture it on the screen. Sheesh.
@Brandy adults read Harry Potter but, they are still children book’s. That’s where they are in book store’s where I live.
I can’t wait to the movie comes out. I’m going to the midnight show on tuesday.
YAY, I can’t wait to get the issue in the mail!

hurrays for ron, hermione, ofcoz harry all the best
Wow, never would have guessed that EW would put Harry Potter on the cover … AGAIN. What, no “Twilight” news this week?
EW: Your one stop hype of mediocrity.
i can’t wait for this issue!! i hope it’s loaded with harry potter stuff and lots of stuff about the actors. harry potter is so much better than twilight!
To LostBoy68 – yes, an entertainment magazine puts the biggest movie of the summer on their COVER – what on earth were they thinking?!?!?
So, there was NO WAY that this blog could have been written without mentioning the Twilight crapfest? Maybe when this film takes Twilight to the bank, you guys can shut up about it. Potter was here way before Twilight, and it’ll be here long after Twilight is forgotten.
I wonder what percentage of fans will actually get that headline “Welcome Back, Potter”?
Gorgeous cover. Good to see those actors looking so cute and well adjusted. This is my most anticipated movie of the year so I am excited. Already have my tickets!
You know aside from the annoying Twilight references everywhere you could at least get it right. For the least six months or so whoever writes PopWatch (and it had to be a staff change because the writing style changed)is too inept to realize that there is no Neo-Goth Twilight movement, and that it isn’t just a tween. Also Harry Pooter is HUGELY funded by adults seeing the movie who aren’t there with their kids.
Way to be mediocre and offend your market. Is it remotely possibly that an entertainment magazine might have a passing knowledge of who the consumers of Twilight and Harry Potter are. Alas that answer seems to be no as that would actually require thought, observation, and a modicum of research. But hey, who needs that when you can just shoot from the hip. In case you are wondering, we are buying EW, if we buy it, for the photos because your commentary is laughable at best.
i love Harry potter movies every day when im sick i whatch all of them in orderand i hope the next one will be the greatest of them
this movie is going to best movie ever
“Neo-goth sexiness of Twilight”?
1. No self-respecting goth I know would be caught dead reading Twilight.
2. The only people who find Twilight sexy are inexperienced teen girls and repressed housewives.
I know it’s been a while since Twilight “merited” a front-page mention on the site, but come on. Phoenix out-grossed Twilight by $100 million domestically, and the Potter books have sold 10 times as many as Twilight. So why do the comparisons STILL pop up? Stop trying to turn Twilight into Harry Potter. It’s not, and never will be.
Cute pic…I freakin’ love the actors who play the trio. They couldn’t be anymore likable and adorable, esp. Dan. He’s just a breath of fresh air. So excited about this movie, the anticapation has literally build-up for me like ten fold. Extended foreplay, hahaha.
