The first photos from director Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland are online, and man, are they stunning. In addition to portraits of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen (pictured), and Helena Bonham-Carter as the Red Queen, USA Today has some panoramic concept art from the film which will combine live-action and stop-motion and CG animation, and eventually be transferred to 3-D. (It's set to premiere March 5 next year.) What do you think — is it living up to your expectations? Or does it remind you a bit too much of Burton's candy-colored wonderland from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

Sigh. If only I liked Anne Hathaway.
It reminds me of every movie Mr. Burton has made. And i’m ok with that.
this looks FANTASTIC!!!!
i like tim burton but i have a feeling this movie will ruin my childhood….
AAAAAMAZING!
They are stunning and weird at the same time. Anne looks awful with that white hair and Helena B. Carter looks really strange. But the pictures from the movie are beautiful. And it’s a shame we have to wait such a long time to see this.
what’s up with the neverending stream of remakes going on in hollywood right now?
this is not a remake its the same charactes but a diff. story aice is 17 not 8 she gets propsed 2 a guy she hates so she runs away 2 her childhod dreams of wonderland
I’m loving this right now. One of the movies I’m most looking forward to in 2010. This will definitely be visually stunning and the cast is fantastic.
Depp’s Mad Hatter reminds me of Carrot Top.
Burton really needs to get help and/or stop making these kind of movies. They just aren’t entertaining. On a side note, just because Bozo the Clown is dead doesn’t mean Helena Bonham Carter can nick his look.
The pictures are great, but Johnny Depp looks a bit like Elijah Wood in his.
Looks amazing! It doesn’t really remind me of “Charlie & the Chocolate Factory”…this seems much more fantastical and menacing. Is it just me, or does Johnny Depp look like Elijah Wood as the Mad Hatter?
Looks incredible. Alice is an unusual and at times dark book–perfect for Burton. And I love to see film take directions like these. Sometimes they don’t work to my taste–I wasn’t a fan of Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate factory. But sometimes they do and are amazing (Edward Scissorhands).
The pictures are very beautiful and artistic. Though Johnny Depp looks strangely like Elijah Wood on this one…or vice versa!
Rachael,
It’s not a remake; it’s supposed to take place 10 years after the first book. Burton used the same characters, but pretty much made it all up.
