Denzel Washington has successfully transformed into many memorable characters over theyears with his portrayals of Malcolm X, Coach Herman Boone (Remember theTitans), John Quincy Archibald (John Q), and even Humpty Dumpty (Mother Goose: A Rappin' and Rhymin' Special). So who's left for the star of the summer blockbuster Taking of Pelham 123 to play? How about the president?
On Letterman this week, the 54-year-old actor was asked about the rumor that President Obama had said he'd be a good choice to play him on film. And how did the Oscar winner respond? He simply stuck both his ears out with his fingers.
"Now I'm in trouble with the president," he said. "The only reason I did that was because he said maybe Will [Smith], 'cause Will's ears were bigger and closer to his."While we don't know how well either Denzel or Will would do in accurately nailing Obama's nuances and voice intonation, we do know of one actor who even the president wouldn't approve of: Fred Armisen. If you, fellow PopWatchers, had the diplomatic task of casting the perfect Obama for a future biopic, who would get your vote?

FIRST!!! okay I would definitely say that my vote would go to someone really hot yet charming and cool. I love finesse from SNL. I really like that dude from MTV! He’s great!
Will Smith!!
Jeffrey Wright. I think he could nail the voice. And he’s a terrific actor, terribly underrated in Syriana.
Jeffrey Wright. Hands down.
I said it before, I’ll say it again:
Chiwetel Ejiofor.
WILL SMITH
He gave the best portrayal I’ve ever seen as Malcolm X, this guy is beyond talented.
Lance Reddick from The Wire. Something about the way he carries himself reminds me of Obama.
NO! Denzel is overrated and wouldn’t suit the role. I’d rather have Will Smith play Obama despite Denzel being the one with the reputation of doin “serious” roles.
Harry Lennix. Obviously.
Who’s that? I love that you’re putting more colored people on this damn website. It’s too white. I guess that cause you asian right? AZN? Or is Yi short for like Yistein or Yiddish?
Donno.
Denzel is too good looking and usually plays hero roles. He would not be suitable to play a smug, arrogant person like BO, who is draining this country of its freedoms. It would not be good for his image, which is perfect.
President Obama IS NOT smug and arrogant, that would be Bush 43. Obama is practically the antithesis of smug/arrogant as he is always willing to listen and work with the opposition. Just beacause your side lost, you paint Obama in a false light. Obama is a hero to many people and is working to get this country back on track.
Yes for Denzel Wasinghton or Lance Reddick to play Barack Obama i don’t know i think they have the same class, elegancy, charisma as Obama unlikely Will Smith (but i loved the Prince of Bel Air).
I think they are both great but Will Smith would do better. He looks more like him and he is so funny. Have you seen him in these Men In Black Bloopers?
