More American Idol

Kara DioGuardi talks about Adam Lambert's sexuality on 'The View'

You’ve all had a lot to say about my colleague Adam Markovitz’s post from yesterday concerning Adam Lambert’s sexuality. On The View, Kara kind of, sort of, went ahead and outed him. The American Idol judge showed up on this morning’s episode in a pre-taped interview, during which she told Barbara Walters and Co. this about the Idol runner up: "I think he was always openly out."

I’m still not sure how I feel about Lambert’s persistent coyness about his sexual orientation. I’m pretty sure though that Kara DioGuardi isn’t really the person who needs to weigh in about it. What do you think — did she cross the line? And how far?

Who cares! Kara just wants to be relevent, since most people hate her. I say she should shut her pie-hole. If it is about the singing, why would she even address it.

That was a HUGE gaffe. More than a gaffe. You do NOT out people. That’s it.

  • no big deal

If he is out like his fans say he is.Then its no big deal.I never thought other wise so why should she look stupit and say no well maybe.Adam should of said something on finale nite like go ask my boyfriend or yes but lets talk music.

THIS AGAIN!? seriously, we’re not over this yet? i mean, i love idol as much as the next person, but this onslaught of kris/adam news is getting ridiculous to the point of absurdity. wake me up when one of these two puts out an album. or when kara is officially fired.

“You’ve all had a lot to say about my colleague Adam Markovitz’s post from yesterday concerning Adam Lambert’s sexuality.”
Yes. And the majority of us said it didn’t matter. We don’t care!!!! Why keep re-hashing?!?!? This is getting old and lame EW.

Extremely disappointed in Kara, and EW.
Adam has repeatedly referenced his sexuality in oblique ways, and hasn’t hidden anything. Look at his Idolatry interview regarding the pics – he isn’t embarassed, he didn’t jump to try and deny them or explain them away.
    EW stop with this!

I couldn’t care less about his sexuality. Kara that was just so wrong!

I don’t know how I feel about people not coming out. On the one hand, it’s great to raise awareness of gay people in positive ways, but on the other hand, I understand why people don’t want to come out publicly, for a multitude of reasons. Yes, Anderson Cooper goes to gay bars, Adam Lambert has been shown kissing guys all over the internet, etc., but do they need to make a statement about it? I mean, I think it’s pretty obvious Adam’s gay, so that’s what I’m going with. But it doesn’t matter, really, and if he isn’t prepared to be an advocate or champion of a cause, so be it.

Kara wants to divert attention from the AT&T scandal by “outing” Adam. What is obvious is that AT&T has a conflict of interest between a fair Idol vote and one that is the most profitable for them. Every method of enhancing votes is supposed to be against the rules, and obviously 38 million votes were not thrown out. Idol had enough discretion within the rules to throw cheating votes out and they did not. Telescope Inc. is supposed to be the independent party overseeing the vote count but will not release information. How low can Idol go?

I think she should have started talking about everyone on Idol and if they are gay or straight. I think she should have asked Barbara if she was gay or straight and then announced if she herself is gay or straight since it seems to be such an issue. It is nobody’s business. Has anybody else on IDOL been asked if they are gay/straight?? Do straight people/celebrities go around and declare they are straight?? wtf…no! I think I’m going to start every conversation from now on with..I’m straight just in case you were wondering…sheesh..

  • Thataboy

Why is this a big deal? I was under the impression that everyone has been “coy” because Adam gave an exclusive to Rolling Stone about it, yet to be published.

Kara and the rest of you should shut the F up! Who cares what his sexuality is? What a bunch of peeping toms. How does his sexuality have to do with anything? Just because gay people want him out so he can support their agenda and Christians want him out so they can attack him. People that talk about other people are the worst kind of people, especially in derogatory ways. Mind your own F-ing business. If you have so much time on your hands, do something for charity or your own family and keep out of Adam’s affairs, nosey neighbors. No good can come of it.

I actually think Adam has been right on with not coming out. He shouldn’t have to. He is who he is. He hasn’t hidden everything. I think he is trying to make a point that NOBODY should have to declare their sexuality to everybody regardless if you are straight or gay. It is his business. It is really a personal thing and it is seriously RUDE to ask about it.

oh please, she did nothing wrong. i’m sure he has always been out and couldn’t care less when anyone says he’s gay cause he doesn’t attack a stigma to it like everyone else who give a crap about it. just because he’s yet to go on a media outlet and say “i’m gay!” doesn’t mean he is not out. it means he just became famous overnight and it still feeling out how he wants to do things. is there any doubt that in his life he has been out? no! come on people, i think it’s pathetic that the media is annoyed w/ him for not saying it. he’s not clay aiken swearing up and down that he’s straight or a-sexual (isn’t that what clay once said – like that is more “normal” than gay???). maybe he just wants his life to speak for itself like when the paparazzi catch straights kissing and we don’t think, “oh my god, he’s straight!” but think, “oh damn, he’s got a new girlfriend/boyfriend.”

I don’t know Adam, but I think she has crossed the line. I wonder if there are things in her life she would not like broadcasted/ I am sure Adam would change some things if he could, but he was an actor with a great desire to get ahead. Some stars will pay any price.
