You’ve all had a lot to say about my colleague Adam Markovitz’s post from yesterday concerning Adam Lambert’s sexuality. On The View, Kara kind of, sort of, went ahead and outed him. The American Idol judge showed up on this morning’s episode in a pre-taped interview, during which she told Barbara Walters and Co. this about the Idol runner up: "I think he was always openly out."
I’m still not sure how I feel about Lambert’s persistent coyness about his sexual orientation. I’m pretty sure though that Kara DioGuardi isn’t really the person who needs to weigh in about it. What do you think — did she cross the line? And how far?

Who cares! Kara just wants to be relevent, since most people hate her. I say she should shut her pie-hole. If it is about the singing, why would she even address it.
That was a HUGE gaffe. More than a gaffe. You do NOT out people. That’s it.
If he is out like his fans say he is.Then its no big deal.I never thought other wise so why should she look stupit and say no well maybe.Adam should of said something on finale nite like go ask my boyfriend or yes but lets talk music.
THIS AGAIN!? seriously, we’re not over this yet? i mean, i love idol as much as the next person, but this onslaught of kris/adam news is getting ridiculous to the point of absurdity. wake me up when one of these two puts out an album. or when kara is officially fired.
“You’ve all had a lot to say about my colleague Adam Markovitz’s post from yesterday concerning Adam Lambert’s sexuality.”
Yes. And the majority of us said it didn’t matter. We don’t care!!!! Why keep re-hashing?!?!? This is getting old and lame EW.
Extremely disappointed in Kara, and EW.
Adam has repeatedly referenced his sexuality in oblique ways, and hasn’t hidden anything. Look at his Idolatry interview regarding the pics – he isn’t embarassed, he didn’t jump to try and deny them or explain them away.
EW stop with this!
I couldn’t care less about his sexuality. Kara that was just so wrong!
I don’t know how I feel about people not coming out. On the one hand, it’s great to raise awareness of gay people in positive ways, but on the other hand, I understand why people don’t want to come out publicly, for a multitude of reasons. Yes, Anderson Cooper goes to gay bars, Adam Lambert has been shown kissing guys all over the internet, etc., but do they need to make a statement about it? I mean, I think it’s pretty obvious Adam’s gay, so that’s what I’m going with. But it doesn’t matter, really, and if he isn’t prepared to be an advocate or champion of a cause, so be it.
Kara wants to divert attention from the AT&T scandal by “outing” Adam. What is obvious is that AT&T has a conflict of interest between a fair Idol vote and one that is the most profitable for them. Every method of enhancing votes is supposed to be against the rules, and obviously 38 million votes were not thrown out. Idol had enough discretion within the rules to throw cheating votes out and they did not. Telescope Inc. is supposed to be the independent party overseeing the vote count but will not release information. How low can Idol go?
I think she should have started talking about everyone on Idol and if they are gay or straight. I think she should have asked Barbara if she was gay or straight and then announced if she herself is gay or straight since it seems to be such an issue. It is nobody’s business. Has anybody else on IDOL been asked if they are gay/straight?? Do straight people/celebrities go around and declare they are straight?? wtf…no! I think I’m going to start every conversation from now on with..I’m straight just in case you were wondering…sheesh..
Why is this a big deal? I was under the impression that everyone has been “coy” because Adam gave an exclusive to Rolling Stone about it, yet to be published.
Kara and the rest of you should shut the F up! Who cares what his sexuality is? What a bunch of peeping toms. How does his sexuality have to do with anything? Just because gay people want him out so he can support their agenda and Christians want him out so they can attack him. People that talk about other people are the worst kind of people, especially in derogatory ways. Mind your own F-ing business. If you have so much time on your hands, do something for charity or your own family and keep out of Adam’s affairs, nosey neighbors. No good can come of it.
I actually think Adam has been right on with not coming out. He shouldn’t have to. He is who he is. He hasn’t hidden everything. I think he is trying to make a point that NOBODY should have to declare their sexuality to everybody regardless if you are straight or gay. It is his business. It is really a personal thing and it is seriously RUDE to ask about it.
oh please, she did nothing wrong. i’m sure he has always been out and couldn’t care less when anyone says he’s gay cause he doesn’t attack a stigma to it like everyone else who give a crap about it. just because he’s yet to go on a media outlet and say “i’m gay!” doesn’t mean he is not out. it means he just became famous overnight and it still feeling out how he wants to do things. is there any doubt that in his life he has been out? no! come on people, i think it’s pathetic that the media is annoyed w/ him for not saying it. he’s not clay aiken swearing up and down that he’s straight or a-sexual (isn’t that what clay once said – like that is more “normal” than gay???). maybe he just wants his life to speak for itself like when the paparazzi catch straights kissing and we don’t think, “oh my god, he’s straight!” but think, “oh damn, he’s got a new girlfriend/boyfriend.”
I don’t know Adam, but I think she has crossed the line. I wonder if there are things in her life she would not like broadcasted/ I am sure Adam would change some things if he could, but he was an actor with a great desire to get ahead. Some stars will pay any price.
“Sweetie….
The Thing is”….KARA…..you screwed up. Now I really don’t want you to come back next year. This is soooo sad!!
I agree with those who say leave it alone; it’s not like we care who’s gay and who’s not. BFD. Too bad either one had to sing that crap song she co-authored, it is horrible. Anyone who is in touch with reality knows Adam’s sexuality and it doesn’t take her “opinion” to make it so one way or another. The only thing that should have mattered all along was the talent in “singing” and Adam was the only contestant with that. Still can’t believe Kris got the win or even believes he was any where near Adam’s quality.
Hey Kara?
How is the VIEW from your dimming spotlight?
Wait…..I can’t see you anymore!
What….no long explainations?
Is this a sign of respect from a fellow ARTIST?
You screwed up SWEETIE!!!!
Again Kara opens her mouth and garbage spills out. This woman needs to be stopped. How in any stretch of the imagination is it her business what Adam’s sexuality is? Did he turn her down? What an effing moron she is. If Adam wanted the world to know, he would have told us. As it is, just let the man sing so we can all enjoy it. Sheesh Kara, grow the F up
Barbara asked her a question; she answered very casually — probably because he was out to everyone at Idol. He’s doing the whole “coy” thing for publicity. The guy is not dumb; he’s milking it and it probably got him the cover of Rolling Stone before he’s even recorded a CD.
Puh-leeze, Mary. She did not out him. The only person in America who didn’t know he was gay was Scott Macintrye.
“The View”
Ha ha ha ha ha!
That’s all I’m gonna say. They don’t deserve any other comment.
Much ado about nothing. The sexuality issue is just a ploy by the media to attract more readers/viewers/bloggers. Who cares. The point is being missed: Adam Lambert is a great performer, has conducted himself with consistent remarkable aplomb and walks the walk with his message: know who you are and be comfortable with it. His message conveys so much confidence; many would do well by paying attention to it.
Augh, enough with this! So much of this is EW’s own fault – if you had the stones to just say what you really meant to say on that damn Lambert cover, there’d be no insane kabuki theatre ‘is he or isn’t he’ drama in the first place. If you had presented the article with him as the out gay man he is, do you really think he would have denied anything? He had already cheerfully commented on the kiss photos ‘yep that’s me, I have nothing to hide, next question’ -what possessed you (and the rest of the media) to push him into a closet he’s never had in his adult life? If he’s playing coy at all, it’s only with you and your games – ‘oh, you want to push me in so that you can then get me to come out? well, maybe I don’t want to play by your insane rules…’
Seriously, I hope you all take a long hard look at yourselves and your coverage once this is all over, and realize that this episode exposed a serious flaw – how to cover a truly openly gay person as they go from unknown to celebrity.
Got to love it adam fans build this guy up.Buy his itunes over and over. Then the same people sit here and say it doesnt matter. Then the media loved him when idol was on tv.Wrote how he was the next elvis.Every day it was something great about adam.Show ends and BOOM lets rip him apart.Hope adam makes alot of money on RS he will need it.
U ppl are so ridiculous all she said was that “I think he was openly out.” How is she wrong when everyone else was thinking that too? Adam doesn’t have to say he’s gay it’s obvious. U ppl are attacking her for what again oh wait yall don’t know what yall are attacking her for – stating ther obvious – damn idiots. U ppl are even worse than those morons who actually care if Adam’s gay.
Kara can’t keep her trap shut, and she can’t write decent songs either. I hope she doesn’t return to AI. Stick a fork in her. . she’s done!
Why are the interviewing a D-list celebrity about a show that already ended? Isn’t this show on daily? Can’t it be a little more current?
she should have said that as a judge it’s not appropriate for her to comment about a contestant’s sexuality. but most people don’t use common sense now do they?
Wow, once again Kara saying something inappropriate. Shocker. Is she done yet?
