What we’re gonna do is go back…way back…to the days immediately following Top 13/Michael Jackson week. It was a simpler time here on Idolatry, and full of hope and optimism and "artistry," I boldly predicted American Idol‘s eighth season would end with an Adam-Allison-Kris final three. Does that make me crazy? Does that make me crazy? Does that make me crazy? Possibly. But on the latest installment of Idolatry, my cohost "Dancin" Dawnie Walton and I discuss the merits/likelihood of such a troika, as well as the admittedly awesome final-five performance of "Come Rain or Come Shine" by Danny Gokey. (Uh-huh, I said it!) Warning: The music of Twisted Sister plays a prominent role in this episode of Idolatry. Grab yourself some earplugs, or simply submit to the awesomeness of "I WANNA ROCK!" I have to agree with Simon on this, I also wasn’t that impressed by Allison’s performance during Rat Pack week. I thought she sang it very well–but I wasn’t emotionally moved by it or anything. And it definitely did not have the same effect on me as Fantasia’s “Summertime” rendition did. I don’t know where Mr. S. gets off comparing Allison’s performance to that! I have a feeling Allison will be going home on Wed. She has been in the bottom 3 the most compared to the remaining contestants, which proves that she doesn’t have a strong and/or loyal fanbase. I think it’s about time she left.
MS, I hate to rain on your parade, and I love allison dearly, but I think we are looking at an all-boys final. I only say that because I think Allison and Adam share a fanbase, both being rock and roll and unconventional, but given Adam’s B3 finish last week, the fans will stick by him and not split votes. I do hope I am wrong.
Also, can someone explain once and for all how the bottom 3 are decided? What I gather from Nigel’s interview I read somewhere is that no one knows the difference b/w b2 and b3 and the producers can twist it for the drama effect how they see it fit. Is that right? Then why did ryan announce these are the bottom 2? just curious

Did you guys see how he crinkled his nose after his opening line like he was too afraid to get excited? He looked like he was giddy that the crowd finally cheered for him during one of his performances instead of the judges just kissing his butt all the time. YOU LIKE ME! O.K. Lets be real. Adam is my favorite, and i will vote for him a thousand times on tuesday night and noone else, but being a gay man myself i can assure u with deep regret, that because adam is gay, he will not be the next american idol, and will probably be going home wed. night. Like i said, dont get me wrong, i want him to win, he is my favorite, buy from my own experience, people have not changed enough to allow this.

I think Allison will be in trouble this week because she has the shakiest fan base among all three. Those who’ve been splitting their votes for Allison and another contestant might decide to refocus their efforts on that other contestant. Adam and Kris are virtually guaranteed a top 3 slot by virtue of their fanbase activating bottom 3 appearance last week.
If life’s fair, it will be an Allison-Kris-Adam Top 3. I’m a fan of Gokey’s but I just don’t think he’s good enough to be up there.
Allison, on the other hand, DESERVES this big time. I mean, she’s the most underrated contestant in the competition.
If we want a good semi-final show, as well, then the only way that’s gonna happen if Allison is in. Kris and Adam are locked-in (if the votes go right). The talent there is much enough to compete for the title. Personally, Kris Allen is a more original and authentic artist I see winning. Adam can hold his own even without Idol.
