Is it just me or did it seem like the opening group number was pre-recorded and they were all just “lip-sincing” ?!?
I love it when people (who must be suffering from amnesia) rhapsodize about the greatness of seasons past. Or the past wonderfulness of idol winners, like the utterly bland David Cook, who no doubt, has a great voice but based on his original songs, leaves much to be desired as a great “artist”, much less an actual rock star. I like the guy, but let’s keep it real. While I have no favorite this season, this is one of the only seasons in recent memory where the first two weeks of Top 12 performances were not riddled with weak-a** performances. Remember-David Cook started off poorly. Carrie Underwood was a robotic performer (still sorta is) at this point in her season. I don’t love this season but please, people. Brooke, Kristy-lee, and Jason sing no better than, and possibly worse, than Scott or Michael, who I think are the weakest contestants this season.
Sad to see Alexis go. I think we would have been very pleasantly surprised to watch her grow. In agreement with the above conspiracy theory, Alexis has looked like she was uncomfortable with something about the show for the past few weeks. Finally, does anyone think as I do that Kara is simply a female version of David Hasselhoff?
I love these behind the scene reports. Looking forward to the David Cook performance. Wish I was looking forward to the contestants performing, but so far, I’m not impressed.
They should get rid of Adam. He is annoying and too much like a Dave Cook wannabe. Its country week and he decides to sing some hippie, goth, pop version of the song. Come on.
Whitney: Don’t you think Allison is the real deal? She’s been performing all her life and knows who she is. She has that F-U attitude toward the judges, love it!
The moment when the judges were “deliberating” and finally said NO was really embarassing, awful and ridiculous…
I really miss David Cook too!
Hated everything about last night’s show. EVERYTHING. I won’t go into detail because it would take several hours, except to say that this judges’ save is bulls**t. NO ONE is buying it except the poor contestants. OTOH, I can’t wait for Cook’s return. He is a true champion in every sense, and boy is Idol lucky they found someone so amazing.
Thanks for such an interesting recap, Adam. I’m 100% in agreement with what Slezak Fan says. I’m anxiously waiting David Cook’s appearance on April 1st. Ah, and Adam, I don’t know about Carrie, but David is on tour and not able to make it to the live show on April 1st
I’m actually not watching the show or the results any more this season…ummm except for Mr. Cook’s performances, I’ll make an exception for that. I totally hate the judge’s save. It’s just set up for drama, and poorly if you ask me. After Simon called Alexis’ performance sing-alike (duh it had nothing to do with Dolly Parton’s version), I hardly think he was going to save her. The judges huddle was only about what they were going to eat after the show…anyhow, I’m looking forward to Cook.
This year’s talent is not at the calibre of last year. This is why the judges are over complimenting this contestants. Kristy Lee Cook and Ramielle were about at the level of this year’s best. I miss all of last years singers. Especially Cook.
i’m glad for Cook, and Archie when is going to be there???
i miss my cute kid too..
he could help them with the ratings too, his videos on youtube are smashing!! he has millions of views on youtube!!
The author must like boring people ie. David Cook… It’s a plus that his family wouldn’t stand up? BORING…
Ok, my one question: Hows does it make any sense that in order to receive the judges’ save, Alexis had to sing for her life – performing a song 31 million people already said she was awful at?! Couldn’t they have predetermined with the band what each contestant would sing in the situation? Why couldn’t she have brought back Dirty Diana or her semi-finals performance?
Doesn’t make sense. And I’m still really upset by this whole sitch.
Other Idols to return? I would love to see Taylor Hicks come back and rock the house to show why he was chosen an American Idol. He has been the shows running joke for some reason this season and I think its pretty disrespectful considering he was one of only 7 ever to win. I think we will be seeing a lot more of him in the future with his new album, Idol owes it to him to help boost the sales and perform live on the show (or pre-taped for a future time). I would like to see him anyway!
