George W. Bush writing a memoir

Categories: Books

Former President George W. Bush will be writing a memoir about decisions he’s made, the Associated Press reports. The book, tentatively titled Decision Points, is scheduled forpublication in 2010 by Crown, an imprint of the Crown Publishing Group. "I want people to understand theenvironment in which I was making decisions," Bush told the AP in aphone interview from his office in Dallas, TX. "I want people to get asense of how decisions were made and I want people to understand theoptions that were placed before me."

The book reportedly will focus on about a dozen of Bush’s choicesover the course of his life and presidency, including his decision tostop drinking and his choice of Dick Cheney as Vice President. He’llalso discuss his relationship with his father, plus his decision to send troops to Iraq, his response toHurricane Katrina, and his religious beliefs, the AP said. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

So what do you think, Popwatchers? Will Bush’s book be a best-seller? And would you buy it?

    He can write???

  • MsDaisy

Shouldn’t he READ a book first?

  • Angela

Would I buy it? Absolutely not. Didn’t buy his BS then…won’t buy it in the future.

  • rufustfirefly

I’m waiting for the Alberto Gonzalez memoir; 400 pages of “I don’t recall”.

  • Nathan

I’ll only buy it if it comes with a free pack of crayolas attached.

  • Bush’s Legacy

It is a shame that most of the great things Bush has accomplished while in office have largely gone unnoticed by the liberal media. I expect this book to clear up some of those issues. It will have pride of place on top my shelves next to my Ann Coulter collection and the Rush Limbaugh porcelain head (which actually bleeds tears from its eyes every third Tuesday-I’ve had people from the vatican come test it!) I found lying in a dumpster covered in rat feces and rotten produce.

i didn’t know he could read let alone write. well let’s just hope that somebody seriously edits this before it goes to print because i’m sure there will be many spelling mistakes.

  • XSE Drake

It should be 400 pages of names of people he was responsible for murdering. Geroge W. Bush’s place in history is in the outhouse. Good riddance to the man who destroyed the USA.

  • Andrew Mellein

I might pick it up to see if he can spell lol

  • MDK

    XSE Drake, get over yourself.

  • mike

dumb ass will probably hit spell check on his computer thinking It might correct his book!

  • Derek

So if i said these things you guys are saying about Obama, I’d probably be called a racist. You guys crack me up.

  • Naw

    MDK, STFU.

  • J. Conrad

If asked to write an autobiography, he would get Laura to pick up a shop manual at the library, then start laboriously with:
“I have always had a soft spot in my heart for cars with 4 barrel carbs.”…..

  • SKN

Hey, Derek, do you honestly think Obama and W are intellectual equals? People wouldn’t make these comments about Obama, it’s clear he’s intelligent. With Bush, let’s just say it’s less so.

  • Adm1ral

HAHAHA the comments on this are hilarious! I mean making fun of Bush? That’s so original! There are so many creative minds in this country!
But in all seriousness this book should be pretty good. It’ll be nice to actually hear what was going on over the last 8 years from the person who was in office rather than spaztacular democrats who claim they know more than the president and overreactive conservatives that are in love with him…

  • Zach R

how much you wanna bet he’ll have someone ghost write it?

  • Valerie

Wouldn’t he consider that elitist ?

  • Katherine

People are so ridiculous. George Bush did a LOT for kids who couldn’t read in Texas. He got that number down to 2%. People tend to ignore things like that though…

  • James

Jesus Christ. Is this a joke? Please tell me it’s a joke. People’s comments were funny enough. But letting this moron, after what he did to our country for 8 long years, write a memoir is beyond ridiculous. Georgey, take your dismal record and your 30% approval ratings and please just fade into the sunset. It can’t come soon enough.

  • Nix

And, like most memoirs that publishers pay million-dollar advances for, most of it will be fiction.

  • Jeff W.

I would title the book “Failure: How I Became the Worst President in U.S. History”. Is he going to write it in crayon?

  • Sara

And somewhere in America, Jon Stewart got a massive case of the giggles. When your statement that you’re “the decider” is so maligned and lampooned, you probably shouldn’t include that as the title of and major reason behind your book.

  • AA

    Meh. Probably. No.

  • EP Sato

So is this going to be a pop up book?

  • BrandonK

    I hope he’s a better writer than he is a speaker. Maybe he’ll get a ghost-writer.

  • RayT

I think we all know who the ghost writer will be. Cheney! He was the ghost-writer of Bush’s entire administration.

  • whatcha

He is the decider, but no, I won’t get his book. I’ve always found him hard to buy.

  • Gordon Sutton

    Bush and which ghost writer?
Just when did Bush become literate?

  • Greg

It’s nice that Dubyah is finally taking some time to learn to read and write. It sets a good example.
In all seriousness, it would be nice if he would actually write the book himself. We already know he’s an idiot so won’t be surprised by the poor writing skill. But what he has to say would still be extremely interesting if they are his own words. Sure he would have a really messed up view of what happened, but it would still sell very well.
But as others point out here, there is no doubt that this will be written on behalf of Bush, and while still complete nonsense, will not even be Bush’s direct take on his nonsense but the same spin that we’ve suffered for what seems to have been several lifetimes.
I don’t think people should support this book, but we should get together to fund a Bush retirement fund in order to encourage Dubyah to never do anything in his life again since everything he touches turns to crap. You really can’t put a price on that, can you?
