'Moonlight' star Alex O'Loughlin wants to play (a) doctor, and I'm fine with that.

Alexoloughlin_lAs our own Michael Ausiello reported yesterday, Moonlight‘s Mick, Alex O’Loughlin, is thisclose to signing on for the CBS pilot Three Rivers, a medical drama about organ transplants told from the point of view of the doctor, the recipient and the donor. The Hollywood Reporter has fleshed out his would-be character, "Dr. Andy Yablonski, the workaholic head of theteam of organ donor transplants who is separated from his wife andlives in a motel near the hospital."

Many thoughts running through my head right now: Separated from his wife and living in a "motel" means he’s gonna get some, right? But could "workaholic" mean he won’t? (I will not stand for that, CBS.) Am I now rooting for Three Rivers to get a pickup over Miami Trauma, the CBS drama pilot starring Jeremy Northam? His character was described as "a likable but enigmatic new doctor on the traumaward." I can’t tell if he’ll be getting any from that! (Decisions. Decisions. Pick one, PopWatchers.) And will O’Loughlin’s have an edge because he signed a holding deal with CBS last August, so clearly the network wants his female following him? (Maybe not. NBC signed Gilmore Girls‘ Lauren Graham to a development deal in 2007, but nothing came of it. That’s why she’s got a pilot, Let It Go, at ABC now.)

Dear God (or CBS in this instance):
Please put Alex back on my TV.
    Amen

Alex, Schmalex. I’m happy for him (and his fans), but please, gods of television, give Jason Dohring a show (team him with Kristen Bell again and I’ll be in heaven).

I’m not sure how this show is going to go…I still enjoy the vamp thing. Really liked how they all acted together..It was light humor…just plain good….Moonlight is what TV is all about..taking your mind off of everyday stuff.. not sure we need another DR show..already have lost interest in Grey’s etc…

“A holding deal” — I knew there had to be such a thing! I’ve seen a few actors keep showing up on the same network as if they had some kind of obligation to show up on that network’s shows. Apparently there is some kind of obligation!

This is exactly the premise of “Heartland”. Which was, as we know, a GIGANTIC hit for TNT. /sarcasm And…to the Dohring commenter, JD was cast in a CW pilot, ‘Body Politic’. All together now, hiss at the thought of the CW being in charge of JD’s destiny.

One of the truly stupidest moves ever by network suits was to pull the plug on Moonlight. Just keep repeating the word Twilight & imagine what a winner you had. Morons! I adored Alex as the vampire and I welcome seeing him again on TV. He deserves another shot.

You know what I’d like to see Alex O’Loughlin in? “Moonlight” season 2. *sigh* Since that will never happen, I would settle for seeing him in a quality show, but honestly, “Three Rivers” just doesn’t sound like something I would want to watch.

Doesn’t sound all that interesting. How about this: put O’Loughlin and Northam together on something original and air it on a different network (since I won’t watch CBS anymore – or FOX, or ABC)? Holding contract, schmolding contract.

It has been my only consolation since the cancellation of Moonlight is the release of the DVD’s of the first season to watch all of the talented actors on that show. I still hold out (no matter how unrealistic it is) for a second season of Moonlight (or at least a movie) but am thrilled to finally be able to see Alex in anything right now (it has been too long). Now if Jason Dohring and Sophia Myles could get the same opportunity. If CBS would just listen to the fans in the first place.

Hey anything with Alex in it I will watch. Still miss Moonlight. Do I want a Moonlight movie? Heck yeah! With the success of Twilight, why not? I hope this role in ‘Three Rivers’ is a good one for Alex. Also don’t forget to catch him as a serial killer in Criminal Minds, April 29th.

If Three Rivers fails they can always cast Alex as the new resident on Miami Trauma.

I am very excited that Alex will hopefully be back on TV. I will watch anything he is in but I wish Moonlight was not cancelled. The whole cast of that show was terrific and I miss it a lot. I watch the reruns on SciFi on Friday nights now. I also bought the DVD.

    Nina Tassler BRING BACK MOONLIGHT
TWILIGHT IS JUST A WATERED DOWN VERSION AND PEOPLE ADMIRE CLASS WHEN THEY SEE IT WOMEN AND MEN ALIKE ENJOY – YES ENJOY MOONLIGHT so give us season two please

  • TIsh S

Alex has the vast talent to make any character come to life, so I think Dr Yablonski will become a welcomed visitor to our TVs as Mick St John was…however, CBS still must come to realize that it was the storyline of Moonlight that we yearned for but the actors, all great, brought those stories to us in wonderful detail… If Alex can do two series, please bring back the Moonlight again with its full TV cast…
