CNBC host Jim Cramer is finally going on The Daily Show tonight, after about a week of back-and-forth between Jon Stewart and the stock market pundit (which all started with Stewart’s smackdown of CNBC last week).Things have escalated since the original scathing series of clips, though:
I can’t tell if I’m excited to see how this plays out, or if I wish they’d keep it going and have TDS rip on Cramer et al for months and months. This stuff is comic gold! Plus, it’s the only time I get to laugh at the economy, which is basically…oh, let’s say it’s in the same club as the hotdogs, dogfood, and chess sets. Cramer was on Martha Stewart’s show today, where he gamely tried to lower expectations. Martha warned him that Jon is "fast as lightning," and Cramer said that he himself is "slow as molasses." Aaawwww. Cramer then said that the Daily Show host is his "idol," which has made this whole saga painful. Again, aaaaw.
Okay, PopWatch pundits, whom are you placing your bets on tonight: Jon or Jim? Or do you stay far, far away from all things shouty and on cable?

Cramer doesn’t stand a chance. I love Jon.
John Stewart is going to massacre Jim Cramer. It’s going to be awesome.
Jon is usually very gracious with guests, even guests he disagrees with. And he is often very self-effacing. He’ll take the high road and look far superior doing it.
While I’m not much of a Jim Cramer fan, I hope he puts up a good fight with Stewart, because I’m not down with the liberal agenda that the daily show promotes. I’m not saying that Stewart should become a conservative (nor will he) but it’d be a lot cooler if he was at least moderate.
Actually, I think Jon is going to be nice to Cramer. Last night Stewart pretty much said that he called out CNBC in general, not Cramer in particular. And Jon is nothing if not respectful to his guests, even when he’s picking apart their arguments with extreme prejudice. So I think that yeah, there will be zingers and cutting remarks – but they’ll also share a laugh about how this got blown so far out of proportion.

I agree with Zandra and Pope Buck. Stewart won’t let Kramer off the hook necessarily, but he’s classy and mature enough to give his own sincere take on the matter and then let his guest speak his mind. Behind the zingers, the guy’s just looking for answers like the rest of us.
Thank God for people like Jon Stewart. Pretty sad that a comedy program – even one as brilliant as the ‘The Daily Show’ – must bear the weight of keeping “legitimate” media outlets like CNBC and Fox News in check.

Marc makes a good point. Some days it looks like Stewart & Co are the only ones doing the job of the fourth estate, and they’re not even journalists. Jon Stewart is usually cordial to his guests, but I hope he holds Mr. Cramer accountable for his words. But seriously, I hope no one actually takes any of the television presenters at their words. They’re more interested in good TV, not good advice.
This is COMEDY, not anything to do with actual intelligence. Steward is a frickin idiot when it comes to policy, so don’t expect anything more than a off the wall comparison to something random like he did the other night with 2% (6.8 billion) of the budget going toward pork. He used 2% and make an attempt to minimalize it as nothing. Its 6.8 BILLION dollars we are wasting. PARTISON HACK
I really hope that Jon is not soft on Cramer, he deserved the “F u!” he got this week and deserves to be accountable for all the BS he feeds on his annoying, inflated mess of a “news show”! The joke will be Cramer, he is just desperate now to hold on to his job and try and save face, what a pathetic loser! Shame on you NBC!
Mike, if you’re gonna make a partisan comment, at least learn to spell “PARTISAN” first.
To put 6.8 billion dollars into terms you Republicans can understand, that equals just over 3 weeks in Iraq, a war instigated by a Republican President and Republican Congress that has now dragged on for SIX YEARS.
You can’t pay me enough (even in this economy) to watch anything with Jon Stewart. Funny that Stewart won’t go on Cramer’s show…Stewart must need that home field advantage or to have jokes piped into his earpiece by his staff of writers out back of the set. I have no doubt that Stewart will play endless loops of bad calls that Cramer has made on investments… who exactly can Stewart say has made perfect calls on their investments? Even Bill Gates and Warren Buffett have lost billions. Stewart is pretty much a publicity whore, isn’t he?
Does anyone remember Jon on Crosstalk?!?! Seriously one of the best smack downs I have ever seen. Thank God for Jon Stewart!
Sorry- Crossfire, not Crosstalk.. That’s just what they DID…
