After watching the trailer commercial for Degrassi: The Next Generation’s ”feature-length movie event,” I have no idea why the gang’s headed to Hollywood or what they’re going to do there, but (a) I’m psyched because old cast members are in it (Craig! Swoon!) (b) Paige trips and falls (bitch had it coming!) and (c) Manny’s hair isn’t hideous (thank goodness!). If you’re asking what this is and why it’s on my Must List this week, you’re clearly uninvited to my sleepover party. But for the uninitiated, check out Jennifer Armstrong’s behind-the-scenes set visit and then get back to me.
I appreciate the teaser and cannot wait until this show airs. But it brings up a host of questions: What will happen if the ‘grassi gang runs into Shenae Grimes (a.k.a. 90210’s Annie Wilson a.k.a. Degrassi’s good Christian girl Darcy Edwards, who’s supposed to be spreading the Word in Africa)? How will Perez Hilton’s attempt at ”acting” stack up against the skills of the show’s actual actors? Will former guest star Kevin Smith drop by? And what issues-packed plot lines will they jam into the supersize episode?
Appreciate the restraint it took not to include an ”aboot” or ‘’soory” jab at the plucky Canadian teens, then tell me what’s on your Must List this week. List up to three items from current TV/movies/music/books/games/online. Don’t forget your e-mail address, in case we decide to use your submission in the magazine. Deadline is Thursday, Mar. 12 at noon ET.

1. Heores doesn’t suck anymore.
2. Neko Case’s Middle Cyclone
3. Flaming Lips’ cover of Madonna’s “Borderline” (http://www.amazon.com/gp/mpd/permalink/m386YV2CNSD51Y)
LOST-repeats, newbies . . . doesn’t matter-this show is freaking awesome!
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle and all of its LOST connections/meanings, plus it’s a great book!
My must list this week:
1. Castle! love Nathan Fillion! he is so great
2. Supernatural. Cant wait to see what Dean was doing during his time down below
3. Grey’s Anatomy
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – It’s Blitz!
Plus don’t forget Craig, Marco, Jay and Jane are in real life, doing God Sees God the play in Toronto!!!
As for Must List:
The new revival of Hair on Broadway (simply awesome)
The new remake of Toto’s “Africa” by Karl Wolf (what a great beat)
The Big Bang Theory – funnier than ever now!
1) Disney’s Pinocchio on Blu-Ray. For a movie that’s almost 70 years old, it looks gorgeous in HD!
2) Let the Right One in also on Blu-Ray. It looks great, sounds even better and as far as the movie goes, well it’s about a bazillion times better than that other 2008 vampire movie.
3) The World Baseball Classic. Hey it’s better than watching Hockey!
My MUST list this week…
1. Smallville: seriously, how are they going to undo Clark letting out his secret identity to the masses and when is Clark going to realize his feelings for Lois far outweight those high-school feelings he had for Lana? It’s probably going to be too late (like, after she falls in love with Superman!).
2. Win a spot in New Moon: Hot Topic is hosting a 1 minute video contest to find someone to not only visit the set where hottie Robert Pattinson will be filming the next segment in the Twilight Saga, but also to be IN the movie! Wish me luck!
2. Kelly Clarkson’s new CD: please live up to my expectations!
I think the McDonalds Filet-o-Fish commercial is brillent – Give me back that Filet-O-Fish, Give me that Fish! Can’t get that out of my head
Hey Jean,
Remember me? I’m Mikela’s friend who informed you of my popwatch obsession like a giddy fan. haha. Anyways, just writing to say hi and that I too am PUMPED for the Degrassi movie. This show is my guilty pleasure (old episodes) and its always on my Must List!
Must TV: Olivia and Natalia on Guiding Light
Who would have known just last year that this love story would be changing the hearts and minds of people one pile of laundry at a time? It sure is keeping me gladly glued to my television with smoldering chemistry and acting and simmering, angsty writing. Otalia is a force to be reckoned with!
Ashes to Ashes on BBC America just premiered right after Life on Mars tied up its story line spectacularly in its final episode. Can’t wait to see Gene Hunt circa the 1980’s. US series should take a hint from their BBC counterparts – sometimes 2 or 3 seasons is all you need.
My Must List:
American Idol – it just got really good this week.
Saving Grace – Best cop show on tv.
Lost – if only it was not a repeat.
Catherine Hardewick’s Twilight Journal coming out on the 17th. Rock on.
Twilight coming out on the 21st.
And Let the Right One In – Saw it, was not that impressed. It was decent, but Twilight was soooo much better.
Otalia – Guiding Light
Great writing, even better acting. Crystal Chappell and Jessica Leccia produce enough electricity to light the national grid.
Must TV: Oliva & Natalia on Guiding Light
These two made me want to watch soap again. Keep up the good work writers. Otalia is the best thing on TV right now!
I’ve gotta agree with Abby on the Lost reruns on SciFi. It’s great to revisit the old episodes and see how it all ties in with what’s happening with our castaways this season.
Also, Kristen Schaal is on my must list for playing the delightfully creepy and obsessive super-fan, Mel, on ‘Flight of the Conchords’. She’s been in fine form this season. Hilarious!
