I’m so glad this POS show is over. I’ve watched the last few seasons out of some weird sense of loyalty, but it hasn’t been good or in a while. And this finale? What a joke. I hope The Farm does NOT get picked up. Illene Chaiken doesn’t need another opportunity to run with stereotypes and showcase bad storytelling.
I am a late joining fan of the show, which I quickly learned to love but what a horendous ending! I am glad to see that I am not the only one left staring at the TV last night saying WTF?!?!?!
My mouth was left hanging wide open and it was not for a good reason. That.was.so.bad. No matter how delusional Jenny was none of the characters would murder her. It was too many holes left in the story. Nothing was resolved except for Tasha and Alice. Also, there was no sense of hope or love for the characters. This is a show about women, right? And now there going to throw Alice in jail…WTD?????? I hope the “new series” does not get picked up and they make a movie. But I guess what should we have expected from the L word.
a milestone of pure garbage- this show, while promising in the first season just kept slipping down to pure mediocrity until it was just unbelievably stupid and cartoonish… i have NO idea how i spent 5 seasons with these shallow women since I wouldnt spend 5 minutes with them in real life… that being said, it was a show that was so-bad-its-bad-its-fun-albeit, if i was a lesbian (or a woman) i’d find this show extremely offensive, but i guess because it thought itself so preposterously important that it was beyond its apparent sexism. well, it wasnt. ALSO- I dont care if it had a recurring transexual character blah blah blah- That character got COMPLETELY shafted!!!!!!!!! and again, nobody seems to complain… the show’s success is a bit of an enigma to me unless its main demographic is straight men praying to see 2 hot women make out… of course all the women had to be stunningly gorgeous- notice that all the unattractive ones are in prison???? the show was a joke
Well well well, for a non lesbian you obviously have no idea what this serie was all about cause from the way you speak, you so did not get the message of the film! I do not see how this is insulting to women.. Making comments like “the show’s success is a bit of an enigma to me unless its main demographic is straight men praying to see 2 hot women make out…” makes me just want to say this:
How on earth did you come across this serie and what made you watch it since it’s purely degrading for women? Get a life and actually learn to spend time with those “shallow women” you’re avoiding real life before making such a statement. Pffff
Illene Chaiken should be physically removed from the WGA and put out of her misery. she is an absolutely horrid writer and a disgrace to women.
I gotta say that I didn’t think that I’d feel offended watching this series finale but when I really thought about it, I was a loyal view who watched this entire show through it’s run even if it completely lost my interest in season three. I stayed for the characters, I stayed for Shane and Carmen, I’d hoped that things would get better. To know that this show has no resolution is extremely disappointing and I hope that the creator doesn’t think that we’re going to watch a spin-off after that piece of garbage that we were witness to last night. She’s out of her damn mind.
Oh and now they’re ruining it with the web series in which they’ve already massacred Tina. Goodbye and good riddance L Word.
to R Rice: “as with all things lesbian, left up in the air for us to only wait and see what happens next”
ARE YOU F***IN KIDDING ME?!?!?!?! WOW- you have GOT to be THE most EXCEPTIONALLY retarded person I am going to witness in these posts…
“as with all things lesbian..” what a crock
The ending…..was very upsetting I was expecting a lot more from the show, I have been a loyal fan since day one and this was a HUGE HUGE HUGE disappointment, but what you do honestly expect for a final episode, happens with all great TV shows. I will miss The L word, it was an amazing show with some amazing storyline, I do admit sometimes it was a little over the top, but it was still a great show.
GOOD RIDDANCE. THE MOST NAUSEATING SHOW EVER. IT’S DISGUSTING THAT LESBIANS THINK ITS RIGHT TO GET MARRIED AND RAISE KIDS. THERE CAN BE NOTHING WORSE THAT A BOY RAISED BY A COUPLE OF MAN HATING LESBOS. CLEARLY WRONG AND SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN. NOW OUR COURT SYSTEMS ARE BEING CLUTTERED BY DOMESTIC PARTNERS SUING EACH OTHER OVER PROPERTY AND CUSTODY, ETC. WHAT A WASTE.
Thanks to the creators for producing a show that not only gave lesbians an outlet, but had an abundance of great roles for actresses. The ending worked fine for me. I’ve watched all 6 seasons as a hetro male who usually forwarded past the sex scenes because for me personally they were a little boring. It all goes back to the writing and the characters. Females should have roles beyond girlfriends and wives to the main characters, and anything that helps bring about knowledge concerning different lifestyles should be applauded. Good ending, good six years. and thank you Showtime for having the moxy to run it. It’s absence will leave a void.
Nick, you’re a moron. and do you know how to undo the caps button? what is it with conservative neanderthals these days and all cap lettering? don’t worry, your hate and idiocy will show through without them.
my partner and i have never missed an episode and own every box set except 4 the last season, but am pondering whether or not to buy the new season because as far as i can tell it left you with hundreds of questions and scratching your head wondering what the hell happened and why they would end it all the way they did.. we personally are so angry .. ( im sure like the rest of you) i suppose but don’t really know that Jenny offed herself.. but did they say that? NO… only showed everyone wanting to kill her, Jenny’s last words were she loved everyone so we are under the impression tht she killed heself.. which would not be surprising for her charactar. but i still feel like i watched the last episode of Dallas..it’s all a horrible dream and a horrible ending..and the question is who wrote the final episode?was it ilene? cause we deserve an answer..because i would like to say ilene WHO THE F- KILLED JENNY??? still very sad..
They should have played “Don’t Stop Believin’” when everyone broke into smiles.
I lost faith in the show seasons ago. The only reason I kept watching was for Max, the only likeable character.
I too felt cheated at the ending. I was expecting, or perhaps hoping, for a warm, fuzzy happy ending for all of them… I’m glad they solved the “missing negatives” mystery. But I’m still left with TONS of questions.
I’m straight and started watching the show about 2 years ago (upon the request of a friend) and had rented all the seasons prior to catch up for this final season. I love the show, the women in the show and the dynamic between them. I’m definitely not sorry I spent time watching it and discussing it with my friends. I believe a little piece of me has changed for the better.
Note to Showtime Execs: If you want The Farm to be even remotely successful do not allow Ilene Chaiken to write it or have any creative control whatsoever. The only reason the ridiculous L Word lasted this long is bc of its rabidly loyal fanbase (myself included) who were drawn in by the siren call of the one and only show on tv about lesbians.
Once you lose your niche audience and have a show with nothing but crappy writing and plot inconsistencies you’re sure to flounder.
