Whose celebrity memoir are you still waiting to read?

Tagged:

Dianekeaton_lWhen an e-mail sprang up in my inbox yesterday informing me that Diane Keaton would officially release her memoir, my first reaction was, Wait, Diane Keaton hasn’t already written a memoir? That being said, because I enjoy my fair share of celeb-driven personal histories — hello sTori Telling! — I’m looking forward to reading Keaton’s narrative, which will apparently chronicle her mother’s struggle with Alzheimer’s. (Though I wouldn’t mind reading about tie-vest combos, as well as some Woody Allen dirt while we’re at it. Too much to ask?)

But while news of Keaton’s memoir is nice and all, we can’t help but be relatively insatiable here at EW. After all, we’re still waiting to get our hands on juicy reads from other Hollywood icons. Where is Jack Nicholson’s memoir? Or Meryl Streep’s, for that matter? And we’d pay a pretty penny for memoirs written by plenty of other celebs, too. A quick intra-office poll turned up the following names: Oprah, Elton John, David Letterman, Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr., Bobbie Kristina Brown, Chelsea Clinton, Katie Holmes, Suri Cruise and — of course — Madonna.

Your turn: Whose celebrity memoir are you dying to read? And while we’re on the subject, what is your  favorite celebrity memoir of all time? (Some of EW’s choices: Motley Crue’s The Dirt, Michael J. Fox’s Lucky Man, Katharine Hepburn’s Me, and Bob Dylan’s Chronicles.)

“Me” is great, but when I was 14 I was obssessed with Patty Duke’s “Call Me Anna”. Also, for musical theatre buffs, Alan Jay Lerner’s (of Lerner and Loewe) “On the Street where I Live” is fantastic!

  • Impeach Obama

One Term President Obama’s memoir of his utterly failed Presidency and Criminal Impeachment will be a SHEER JOY to read. You betcha.

I would like to read a Paul McCartney memoir. As for ones I have enjoyed, I thought Slash wrote a really honest book. And I thought Barbara Walters’ “Audition” was good.

I’d be very curious to read W’s bio in his own words… and the last great bio The Personal Beliefs of Jimmy Carter.

Steve Martin’s Born Standing Up was entertaining. Currently reading Julie Andrew’s Home.

Would love to read Robert Downey’s memoir, thats gotta be a trip. Dude talks like he’s still on another planet.

I know he’s young, but considering some of the things he says in interviews, I would pay good money for Robert Pattinson’s. The crazy fan stories that he could tell…!

Definitely Eric Clapton’s Memoir – it was so candid about all the drugs he did, and the women he screwed over. But it really made you feel what the time period was like.

Craig Ferguson’s memoir is coming out in the fall. That’s a “must read” for me. He’s brilliant and has had a fascinating roller coaster of a life.

Definitely Stephen Colbert. It would be cool if he wrote a memoir out of character because his life story sounds so interesting. Also, Tina Fey, because I would like to know what it was like for a female trying to become successful in comedy, as well as how she became so awesome. I would also take a Pitt-Jolie child in 20-30 years. Statistically, there’s probably a pretty good chance that will be in our future.

I’d like to read Angelina Jolie’s. It’ll be interesting to read about her life with her crazy father, Billy Bob, her work with refugees, as well as her life with Brad and her ten thousand children.

Yes – Meryl Streep’s memoir would be a must-read for me. I guess it’s kind of hard to find time to write your memoir when you’re still putting out acting gold, but someday we’ll get to read it.
Who wouldn’t read Madonna’s memoir, honestly?

I loved Alan Alda’s “Never Have Your Dog Stuffed.” A must-read, even if (like me) you’ve never watched M*A*S*H!

I cant wait for Patrick Swayzes. Its like reading the diary of your first boyfriend (yes…in my demented world I see him as my first love)

Impeach Obama is obviously delusional. And out of all the names listed, RDJ sounds like it would be the most fun to read.
