Clip du jour: 'The District' marries your two great loves -- Barack and reality TV

How did the folks over at Newsweek know that we’ve been wondering just what Barack Obama’s first 100 days in office would be like if they were chronicled on, say, MTV’s The City? (Okay, I wasn’t wondering but go with me here.) Clearly, they must have known in order to create the fabulous show The District. From its spot-on musical choices to its lingering scenes with seemingly vacant stares to its use of just first names in the opening credits, the show gets it all right. But its real selling point is Imas Crosson’s impressive impression of Barack.

You should also check out Crosson’s YouTube channel for more of his takes on Barack, like the one embedded after the jump. Seriously, has SNL seen this guy yet?

YES! This guy is GREAT as Obama, SNL should really try to use him.

it was kinda clever actually with the blank stares cut back and forth and whatnot, but it wasn’t a great impression. his inflection and pausing are better than fred armison’s on snl, but it feels… empty, for some reason. hmm. hard to describe. i’ll have to think about a better way to express my opinion on it.

actually. i didn’t watch the youtube clip before i commented. For some reason, that impression seemed a LOT better to me. I think he’s fairly close. If he works on it a little more I think he’ll have it down. definitely better than a lot of other pres. obama impressions though.
