Pilot Season: CBS orders more than procedurals after all

Filed under: Television and tagged: ,

Airplanepilot_lVariety has the latest news on CBS pilot orders. Let’s take a look…

House Rules: This D.C.-set drama revolves around newly elected representatives and comes from writer Michael Seitzman (North Country) and producer Mark Gordon (Grey’s Anatomy), the gentlemen behind the Eye’s previously reported pickup Empire State. I think it could work for CBS: Washington says old; "newly elected" says not too old. TAG (Totally Arbitrary Grade): B-

The Fish Tank: The screenwriters of What Women Want (who exec produce Fox’s ‘Til Death) got a cast-contingent order for this sitcom, which means the network has to approve their star. I can see why. It "centers on a teen who suddenly gets his parents’ house to himself five days a week." My first reaction was Huh? My second was McLOVIN! TAG: B-

A Marriage: Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick (thirtysomething, My So-Called Life, Once and Again) attempt to recover from their quarterlife debacle with this family drama about an allegedly happy marriage. The "allegedly" is mine. Do you buy it? Not a lot of info to go on, but sometimes you gotta trust the names. TAG: B

This pilot (pictured) looks like Joe Girardi – I liked the other guy better.

    Elizabeth-
He DOES look like Girardi. Maybe the Yankees secretly fired him and he’s now working for airlines and working on a tell-all book called “The Yankee Year.”

  • Ceballos

…but yeah. The Mario Van Peebles-looking guy was more fun.

Ceballos – maybe this guy was more of a CBS demographic-looking kind of guy :)

Due to my love of My So Called Life, I would give A Marriage a shot.
