As preparations for the March 2 debut of NBC’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon continue, the host performed his first monologue yesterday. In front of a construction crew at Studio 6B. Fallon’s further along than I expected: He’s already learned how to make bombing funny ("He only drills when he likes it"), and he did get me to chuckle once (at his Paul McCartney closer). Maybe it’s the mature threads, or maybe it’s that he didn’t giggle, but suddenly, I’m warming up to the idea of Jimmy Fallon, late night host. How do you not root for a guy who loves that his audience’s chairs will be Radio City Music Hall castoffs?

There has never been a less funny person. I used to be torn as to what to watch in the 12:30 time slot. No more. I wouldn’t choose Fallon if it was between watching him and having an unanesthetized colonoscopy.
you just made me laugh my arse off. kudos to you and your explicit and accurate observation.
I can not believe how UN FUNNY that was. He’s never been funny, and I’m looking forward to his show bombing.
the best thing about Jimmy Fallon getting a late night talk show is that he will probably drive more viewers to Craig Fergeson to see what being funny really is.
Just watch Craig Ferguson. Easy decision.
LOL the reasons you didn’t think it was funny is because a) It didn’t have a laugh track….you people seem to only laugh at something when you’re told to laugh, and b) It was a BIT. He was doing a lame monologue ON PURPOSE. Sheesh, do I have to explain everything around here?
How this guy has come this far, I don’t know. He was unfunny on Saturday Night Live, His movie career never took off and now he is back on TV.
so far so good
Bwaaaaahahahaha!! Estajango (above) seems funnier than poor Jimmy Fallon to me! A WHAT?!?! Unanesthetized colonoscopy, you say?! Woah! Dude! =cringing while gigglin’= I can barely type that without a hearty guffaw…..
p.s. Craig Ferguson ROCKS! Would love to meet him someday! VERY funny fellow who used to be Mimi’s uptight English Boss on the Drew Carey Show back in the day. Always good for shits ‘n giggles, I’d say!! Yeah, Baby! Yeah!
~ Ah think I’ll stay loyal to him, Mate.
I remember feeling nervous for Conan. I had no idea who he was and wondered why NBC would have a “nobody” host a talk show. Boy was I wrong! It’s a good thing I’m not an NBC Exec. They have their reasons. I have a feeling this show is going to be a hit and we are going to look back and this day and say, “Remember when everyone was saying Jimmy Fallon had no chance at late night???” I’m looking forward to the show. Knowing it isn’t going to be the greatest show of all time tonight or for a while, it will certainly entertain me while I relax my mind from a long day of work. That, to me, is what late night is all about. Kimmel, Leno, Conan, Chelsey….love them all and am looking forward to putting Fallon in the group too!
