'30 Rock': Relatable Liz Lemon Moment of the Week

Categories: 30 Rock, Television

Tina Fey pulled off her first Grooving to "Everybody Dance Now" in Just a Bra scene last night — an important milestone, to be sure. And yet, as usual, the 30 Rock clip I want to play again and again the next day is one of her painful/awesome flashbacky asides to herself. That’s So Lemon! You know, like Raven. Press play below.

What "stupid bitch" among us has honestly never done this? Ah, Liz Lemon, always making me feel better about myself. (And then seconds later…worse. But it’s somehow worth it.)

Okay, I’m off to C.L.A.S.S. (Consuming Lunch And Simple Socializing). How much do we love Jack and Liz as superfriends?! Does what happen in Croton-on-Hudson really stay in Croton-on-Hudson? Did Cheney consent? Leave a comment. You know the rule: "Always Be Talking."

Loved the references to Croton-on-Hudson. I used to live there and still have family friends that live there, so it cracked my s–t up!
Also, loved the LUNCH and CLASS comments…I’m going to start using CLASS to refer to eating food midday from now on.

  • Verity

Loved this episode simply for the LUNCH and CLASS references, mainly because I work in a manufacturing environment where Six Sigma is our main business philosophy…the references to these crazy/confusing acronyms is NOT THAT FAR OFF BASE!! Seriously, Six Sigma loves a good acronym!

  • Natalia

    Arsenio Billingham…very funny!

  • Bulba

Great episode. I’d love to have a friend as devoted and quirky as Liz. Though I’m torn between the prospects of palling around or working to replace the team-building lego train as her p***s. Bra scene…good stuff.

  • Michelle

After the horrible Jennifer Aniston episode [I think their worst EVER], the writers have been raising the bar with every new episode. Liz using the LEGO train as a robot p***s?! And her demanding that the retreat have a sauna where you can eat in? hahaha Oh Liz… Did anyone else notice Steve Bushemi directed the episode? He did a great job!

I only saw a few minutes of this (I’ll catch up this weekend), but I wanted to add a comment so the overlords know I’m serious about the recap. Overlords, either okay the recap, or I’m afraid you’re going to get a visit from the Hill Witch.

  • Kizzy

Is there no longer a 30 Rock TV Watch?

  • Mel

    “LIKE A WAITRESS!!”

seriously – please bring back the recap

  • pai

OK, not the full recap like usual, but at least something. To be honest, I liked the building of the Lego scene even more. Loved the acronyms that as Liz surmised were intentionally confusing, the co-workers who maintained what happened at the retreat would stay there and the aftermath of the Jenna-Frank hookup. Kenneth’s witch story was a bit much until the payoff at the end. And I didn’t even mention the Wikipedia/Janis Joplin stuff, which had me roaring with laughter so much that I missed lines! Bring back the recap!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is this, Medium? (I love Medium, I say that because I hurt for the loss of that PopWatch.)

  • SWW

Please, please bring back the 30 Rock recap!! I miss it!

  • couchgrouch

geat ep with a continuity problem…Tracy already knew about diabetes. see the “C Word” ep in season 1.

  • J from VA

Why oh why did you guys stop the recap!!! Since none of my family or friends watches 30 Rock this is where I went to laugh w/ fellow fans. EW, I love you but you guys suck for taking the recap away. Long live Lemon.

  • pai

RECAP — Reinitializing energy cultivation around primetime.

  • J from VA

oh and “like a waitress” was my favorite line. B/c I too would have needed someone to tell me that.

  • Rachel

    Funniest ep ever!!!

  • Rich

The episode was great until Jenna showed up as the Hill Witch, which was a pretty obvious sitcom payoff you could see coming up sixth avenue.
Tracy trying to learn how to walk with a wheel strapped to his leg was incredibly funny.

  • TMB

    recap, please. bring it back.

  • Kate

Good luck with trying to get the 30 Rock recap back. They have have too much on their plate with American Idol, The Hills, The Bachelor and any other LAME show to cover what to most of us is the funniest show on TV.

  • Gary

    televisionwithoutpity.com does a recap.

  • Rachel

I miss the recap too….and I have been thinking 30 Rock is funnier than the Office lately too!!!

  • SoCal

So does Alan Sepinwall. He is an awesome TV writer for a paper in New Jersey and does recaps of many shows.

What? Why doesn’t 30 Rock have a recap anymore? The person who was doing it all along was pretty good! Nerds. Brilliant episode though. Jack/Liz = A+. Whether or not they hookup, their friendship is glorious to watch. Tina and Alec really do have amazing chemistry.

  • Annie Hall

I think the person who does the recaps is/was in Sundance

  • izikavazo

It’s true, I love those moments when you completely connect with her.

  • Anonymous

AV Club also does a recap

  • Michelle

I loved “Like a waitress!” and whenever Liz says “Suck it, Nerds!”
    “Uh-doyyyyy!” :)

  • Bridgit

i loved when Liz used the lego train as her robot p**is! i about died laughing!

  • DanOregon

RECAP: Jack and Liz banter and help each other overcome one or the other’s upcoming event that they’re really not looking forward to (class reunion, family visit, retreat).
Kenneth helps Tracy overcome a misconception or other irrational fear.
    Writers have fun with Jenna.
    REPEAT

  • Luisa

MAN that yelling at the mirror IS me. I laugh harder every time.
