Steve Martin to host 'SNL' for record 15th time

Steve Martin will host Saturday Night Live on Jan. 31, with musical guest Jason Mraz. The date marks Martin’s 15th appearance as host of the show (and his best opportunity to promote The Pink Panther 2, which hits theaters Feb. 6).

What’s your favorite Martin sketch? Since Hulu doesn’t have his "Holiday Wish," I’ll go with the one below. (Because when else am I going to get to embed a clip of Steve Martin talking about his penis beauty creme?)

Really…I’m SURE there are Steve Martin fans out there who care he’s hosting SNL again, or that he’s putting out a silly new Panther sequel, but I’m super psyched to hear JASON MRAZ IS THE MUSICAL GUEST!!! He is awesome!!!

One of my favorites was from the same show as the beauty creme skit–it was an advertising company presenting its new jingle for a candy bar called “Nut-Rific.” Funny on so many levels.
I also liked the opener from a few years earlier, when he had the entire cast together singing “Not Gonna Phone It In Tonight.”

I loved the bit he did with Alec Baldwin as to who as hosted the most and how they tried to off each other. I’m hoping we get a visit from Mr. Baldwin on Saturday or I will be very disappointed.

I definitely enjoy that skit, but my favorite Steve Martin sketch is another commercial he did. It was for a book that told you how to save money by not buying stuff you can’t afford. Anyone else remember that one? You can watch the video here: http://consumerist.com/consumer/clips/snl-skit-dont-buy-stuff-you-cant-afford-252491.php

I love the silly dancing skit he did with Gilda Radner that they played again as a tribute to her on the first show after she died. And, of course, the King Tut performance is legendary.

Todd and orville already mentioned my 2 faves. My husband and I still say “Don’t Buy Stuff You Can’t Afford!” to each other any time we consider putting something big on our credit card. Pretty good advice, actually! I love the dancing skit with Gilda, too – and it was so touching to see Steve get choked up when introducing it at the first show after her death. Such a great tribute to her.

Oh WOW…. I love love love love Steve Martin, and I think I love Jason Mraz even more. I will definitely be watching this night! One of my favorites was Tina Fey’s monologue and he was the surprise guest, and he was telling her how to act as a host. Hilarious.
