Mike Judge’s Office Space hit theaters in February 1999, and next month, the film’s 10th anniversary will be commemorated with a special screening and reunion at Austin’s Paramount Theatre. Somehow, tickets are still available for the Feb. 8 event, which will be attended by Judge and members of the cast including Gary Cole (Bill Lumbergh), Stephen Root (Milton), David Herman (Michael Bolton), and Ajay Naidu (Samir Nagheenanajar). According to reports, there will be giveaways courtesy of Fox Home Entertainment, which releases the film on Blu-ray Feb. 3, and copresenters SXSW and Fantastic Fest have promised "special Office Space activities" before and after the screening. (I have a copy/fax machine that’s begging to be put down, should organizers be accepting volunteers.)
In 2005, the real Michael Bolton told me, "I have signed so many Office Space DVDs, and I have it, but I’ve never seen it." I wonder if that’s still the case…

I still can’t understand why people love this movie.
Thanks for the info. I wasn’t even aware this was happening and just bought tickets. Thanks!
come on- they kick the crap out of a fax machine! What’s not to love!? Man it feels good to be a gangsta
Lynny – Yeah, that scene is funny. Name another one.
Rahul: Seriously? The whole movie, dude.
BOB: So, Peter, I understand you’ve been missing a lot of work lately.
PETER: I wouldn’t say I’ve been MISSING it, Bob.
I’m looking at my Rio Red Swingline admiringly as I type this… it’s funny, earlier today I told my boss that I’d love to “Office Space” our crappy printer (that’s actually older than Office Space). Wish I lived closer to Austin…
I kind of agree with Rahul. Office Space is the most overrated cult film I’ve seen in some time (I thought Grandma’s Boy, which was Office Space with gaming testers, was much funnier…the first ten minutes had me in tears). Space is watchable and there are some funny moments sprinkled throughout (the printer beating scene being the standout…I even replicated it with my broken DVD before throwing it out
), but I was mostly unimpressed. I admit it’s easier to stomach after the initial viewing, though I can’t fault Owen for his rating. An okay film overall, but nothing worth clamoring home about.
Why so grumpy, Rahul? I have, in my life, been at a couble of jobs that I HATED and maybe that is a pre-requisite to enjoying the movie. It was liberating for me to imagine just not caring. Plus, the details of that type of office life were so dead on, that it was inherently funny to a cubicle dweller.
Anyone who has ever been subjected to cubicle work life can relate to this movie. Hell, I feel as though I’m living it every day.
Rahul:
-Jump to conclusions mat explanation scene.
-Explanation of getting hit by bus = better than office job.
-Guy pretending to be crackhead to sell magazines to get out of software sales scene.
-Oh-Face
–No-Talent Ass-clown explanation
-Opening traffic sequence w/old man and walker.
-Michael Bolton turning the volume down on the rap.
And many, many more.
I found I liked this movie more every
time I watched it.
I made the mistake of taping this movie when it came out on VHS and watching it every night while I waslooking for a new job. I ended up quitting mine instead(bad idea, BTW).
They should give out red Swingline staplers at the screening…how great would it be to have one of those puppies signed by Stephen Root?
great movie.
