'Battlestar Galactica': What the FRAK just happened?

I’m gonna get into this more in my TV Watch — which’ll go live tomorrow morning — but WHAT THE FRAK JUST HAPPENED? Don’t bounce to the jump if you haven’t seen the season premiere yet, but…

Really? She’s the Fifth Cylon? I know it wasn’t gonna be one of the usual suspects, but I never thought they’d pick a dead chick… Aside from that, it was a solid, if unwaveringly depressing episode. But hey, share your thoughts here, and check back tomorrow for the in-depthness.

I think I was surprised with Dee’s outcome more than than the fifth Cylon identity…

  • Brooke

Agreed! I can’t fathom why she’s the 5th. And I saw Dee’s end coming, but it was still shocking.

  • Nicole

wow, surprised there are not more people on here.
I had the same reaction. What the frak?!

  • Nicole

Yeah, Dee actually made me jump and yell oh my god. Didn’t see it coming.

I’m not sure Helen’s the fifth; what’s Kara? I liked it. Dark and depressing and Adama does not emote well; but I liked it

  • Dave

Are we absolutely sure? I thought they kind of left it open for us to believe Ellen is the fifth, but that Kara and Dee were also possibilities. (Somehow, it works out in my head)

  • Kari

Uh, yeah what DID just happen. That was a bit of a let down reveal, all the build up and it’s HER?! Still the episode was very good. How about that scene with Adama and Tigh? Talk about intense!

    Back to Kobol !

I am disappointed. Dualla was under used and now she is dead. With her death there is only one recurring character of African descent left. That is so disappointing. I also saw her death coming with her being featured in the opening sequence heavily. Ellen as the final is a let down. I was really interested in the relationship that Saul had with the 6. Since she is carrying his child.
There were some other things that were kind of obvious like the Earth being populated with Cylons instead of humans. I cannot wait for the backstory.

I have to believe there is a 13th Cylon — the writers must know that having Ellen as the “final” Cylon would be a bit of a letdown for the fans. I think there will be a 13th Cylon, and it will be Zak Adama.

i have to admit…Dee threw me for a loop. i was actually getting excited b/c it looked like she and Apollo were going somewhere. And you know who is the 5th Cylon? come on….I’m still waiting for Dee to pop up as the final one. As for Kara, talk about what the frak. I can’t figure that one out. still trying to work it out in my head

I’m not sold. Tigh’s had hallucinacions of Ellen before, so why should now be any different?

  • lito83

I’m no so sure that Ellen is the 5th. Correct me if I’m wrong (it’s hard to remember back), but when the “last supper” promo picture was released a couple months ago, didn’t the creators say that one of the characters in that picture would be revealed as the 5th? If I’m correct in this then Ellen is simply a fake-out reveal, as she wasn’t in that promo pic.

I agree that there has to be a 13th Cylon – there are 13 colonies. And Kara makes more sense than anybody. Ellen could have resurrected too, assuming that new-fangled cylons can actually resurrect at all.

  • Clint

I agree, I think there is a 13th cylon. There are 12 colonies (and then the mysterious 13th colony, different from the others). There are 12 cylons… maybe also a surprise, mysterious 13th.
I thought the episode was absolutely incredible until the identity of the 12th was revealed :(
