I know he’s a comic genius and all that, but I’m not looking forward to Chevy Chase’s three-episode arc on Chuck. Yes, I’ve got love for Fletch, Caddyshack, and the like, and I found his turn as Nora’s love interest on Brothers & Sisters innocuous enough. But when I caught up with all of this season’s episodes of Chuck back in December, I was truly impressed by the huge strides the show had made in character development from season 1. I’m a little worried about someone with as big a persona as Chase has coming in and overshadowing thedelicate balance of fun and action they’ve got going on over there. That show had great momentum through the fall, especially with the story line about Chuck’s ex-girlfriend/destroyer of his life, and I’d hate to see them lose it.
I know everyone wants to work with creator Josh Schwartz — both Dominic Monaghan and Tricia Helfer will guest on the show this season. And I have to say all the other guest turns so far this season have paid off — Carl Lumbly y’all!!
So I might be willing to give his appearance a fair shake. How about you?

Chevy Chase reflects on his best work

I’m just happy to see anything about “Chuck”! I think it will be okay though — they’ve done terrific things with the show and I have faith. I’m pleased that the network held on to the show and kept on this year.
I miss Chuck. Can’t wait to see new episodes.
After seeing Chevy Chase on Law and Order, I am convinced the man can do anything. I’m sure he’ll be great on Chuck.
Man, love chevy. He looks like my Dad now!
I’m just disappointed that Chevy will be playing a different character other than Chuck’s dad (which was the original rumor). I thought that would’ve been the most brilliant father/son stunt casting since John Ritter played JD’s dad on Scrubs.
I was also surprised that Chevy won’t be playing Papa Bartowski, considering how much Zach Levy looks like he did back in his Fletch days.
It makes sense. “Chuck” has had several homages to “Spies Like Us” (the GLG-20 name for the listening devices, and Tony Hale’s character’s name – Emmet Milbarge – a mix between Emmet Fitzhume and Austin Milbarge, Chase’s and Dan Aykroyd’s characters in the movie). Hopefully they’ll bring on Dan and his wife next
He could still be Chuck’s dad! Can’t rule it out – he’s on three episodes and I’m sure the theft could be solved in less than one…
Look forward to checking it out!
I agree with you, Abby. I felt his turn as the Mel Gibson-esque racist actor on Law & Order was so overdone and distracting that I fear he’ll do the same on Chuck. I don’t even feel as kind as you do about his B&S (hah..BS!) arc. Not to say that I don’t love the man, or appreciate his own freakish love of Botox (have you seen that face???).
I am going to keep an open mind, because Chevy can be great and I have hopes the writing will be good, as it usually is with Chuck. Casting him as a mega tech czar sounds interesting and could be tons of fun!
Keeping an open mind about it, but I’d rather they dial down the guest stars. We’ve already had a bunch this season and I don’t want a 30 rock situation. I for one HATED the Jill arc. The actress that played her needs to pick another profession.
Chevy Chase (like Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell and Jim Carrey) plays the same character in every movie he makes. If he FINALLY plays someone else, it might be okay. But, I think if that were really possible, he would have already done it on the big screen. Sorry…..
Yeah, it was Listen 2 This. I liked those, but then they started not being exclusively about music, (they started to include video games & comic books too) http://cleaning.emenace.com/upholste2b/8.html grout cleaning undefined

I haven’t seen Chevy Chase in much, to tell you the honest truth, and I don’t even associate a face with the name, but I’ve got to stand up for Will Ferrel and Jim Carrey: they play the same (annoying) roles 90% of the time, but they are both absolutely excellent when they do play against type. I agree though that they mostly play the same character though. But it is possible for those two to play different roles (see Stranger than Fiction for Will, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for Carrey)
Anyway, Chuck is an excellent show, and I’m extremely protective of it, but I’ll keep my hopes up.
