TNT has picked up 10 episodes of Ray Romano’s "midlife crisis drama" Men of a Certain Age. While I’m excited to see Ray back on TV — if you’re not an Everybody Loves Raymond fan, it’s because you never saw it — I’m even more psyched for a weekly dose of Scott Bakula, who’ll costar with Romano and Andre Braugher as aging college buddies.
I’ve always been honest about my love for Bakula (pictured, near left), whether I was searching for that clip of him seducing Candice Bergen on Murphy Brown last year (watch it below), or chatting with Star Trek: Enterprise exec producer Brannon Braga about what would become their final season in 2004:
Me: I just watched the last three episodes of season 3, so hopefully I’ll sound somewhat intelligent as we talk about season 4.
Braga: You’re not a Star Trek fan, are you?
Me: I’m not. But I tried to be prepared, and I enjoyed the shot of Scott Bakula shirtless very much.
Braga: We always try to get that in there. Look, the guy’s got a great body, and we definitely get him topless as much as we can. But it was not a conscious effort in the last three episodes.
Who else loves Scott Bakula? (And which episodes of Enterprise do I need to be watching? You know the kind I’d like…)

Loved Bakula in Quantum Leap and loved Romano on Everybody Loves Raymond. Will watch.
How old are you, Mandi? We don’t care about your 12-year-old level of IM’s or about any of the 12-year-old things that you are so passionate about. Can’t you post your ramblings on teenagegirl.com? Your taste in anything “pop-culture” would be acceptable to someone who is 12 years old. Anyone 13 and over should know better. You are so incredibly lame. Go away.
OMG, I LOVE Scott Bakula! Always have, always will – ever since I caught “Quantum Leap” reruns on USA as a teenager.
I was so excited when he was on The New Adventures of Old Christine last year and wished he could have stayed around longer. I will definitely watch this show, no matter how crappy.
Oh snap! You got served!
i watched several episodes of “Everybody Loves Raymond” and no I did not love Raymond and his cast of caricatures…
on another note, that was a mean post “who cares?”
Ray Romano? meh. I watched Raymond for the rest of his family. I will watch for Scott Bakula and Andre Braugher. I first remember Andre from Homicide: Life on the Street and am happy to see him in anything. I too, like seeing Scott in anything since Quantum Leap. Those two are always just so GOOD in everything they do.
oh and Mean Person? Leave Mandi alone and go read something else and let us have fun. She always brings something interesting to see that isn’t stressful and usually makes you laugh.
“Everybody Loves Raymond” was one of the shows I ended up watching with my grandmother whenever I visited her. As a result, I’ve seen several episodes, and I can say that I don’t love it. I do love Scott Bakula, though. Everytime SciFi shows an episode of Quantum Leap I have to watch.
SHAME ON YOU, MANDI!!! How can you write an entire post on Scott Bakula, and not mention Quantum Leap once. After all, it’s only one the most beloved series of all time. If there was a top 250 of tv series a la imdb, quantum leap would be in the top 10, if not 5, for sure.
Bakula! PERFECT news! and WEEKLY!! Prayers have been answered.
To: Who Cares – Please go troll elsewhere. We regular Pop Watchers adore Mandi.
My wife’ll be excited to hear about Bakula’s return to TV, but hear hear, how about a little more love for Andre Braugher? His Frank Pembleton is still one of the standout TV characters of the past few decades…I just hope this new series has the legs to stay around for a while!
I am so looking forward to this new show more for Andre Braugher than Scott Bakula.
I like Ray. I like Andre. But I HEART Scott Bakula .. I was a huge QL fan. So I’ll definitely give this a try .. hope it’s good enough to keep me tuned in for all 10 eppys!
Can’t wait Scott, Andre and Ray, especially since the show will be on TNT. TNT has really stepped up in the drama department lately.
I like Ray Romano and Andre Braugher just fine, but I could watch Scott Bakula read the phone book.
I remember working with Scott Bakula on a musical production at the White Barn Theater in Connecticut, and he was a really nice, hard-working guy. Really enjoyed his singing, too! Hope he gets a chance to show off his pipes in this show.
I love Scott Bakula and have missed him SO MUCH. I can’t wait for the show (despite Ray Romano’s guttural voice). Andre Braugher is also an awesome actor–I hope it’s a good show.
BTW–Love Scott. Love him. Have been waiting for him to get the right part and pick up his Emmy already.
Sorry Mandi, I always though the name of the show was ‘Everybody hates Raymond’ because I sure did. And while the parents could do no wrong, I hated the reat of the show. And you couldn’t pay me to listen to one minute of Ray’s constipated voice. Ugh. Good for Scott, though- he’s teriffic.
my man crush on him started with Necessary Roughness…so bada##. Pretty great movie too
You should def. watch the episode called Hatchary, check out them abs
Scott is looking so amazing for his age, wonder how many episodes it will take in the new show befor the shirt goes
Raymond? Yeesh. The only reason I ever tuned into that show was to see if the producers ever took my idea–in my version, Raymond’s wife left him, took the kids, and moved out to California. His mother passes away, and Raymond is so distraught that he jumps into the hole and clings to the coffin. It’s too much trouble to pull him out, so Ray gets buried with his mother (you know that’s what he’d want). That leaves recently divorced Robert and his father, who move into a swinging singles apartment building where the women, for some reason, are always dressed for the swimming pool, and every week there are all sorts of wacky hijinks that have nothing to do with whining and complaining. And they never once mention Raymond.
Sorry, but not even Scott Bakula could carry a show with Ray Romano in it. It takes a Peter Boyle to do that, and he’s dead (dead, I tell you!!! Dead!!!).
On the other hand, it might not be so bad.
I love all three of them. I’ve had a huge thing for Bakula going back at least to Quantum Leap or Murphy Brown. But a drama? A pure drama? It sounds like it should at least be a dramedy.
I’ll definitely check this out because of Bakula (though I can’t promise to keep watching if it’s not good enough since I’m not a huge Romano fan). Scott Bakula has had a special place in my heart for a long time. Quantum Leap hit at just the right time for my developing hormones to have him imprinted on them permanently. Sigh….dreamy. Some of us never quite grow out of the Tiger Beat era crushes we developed as preteens.
Love, love, love Scott Bakula.
I like Bakula but LOVE Andre Braugher. I’m curious to see this Homicide vet on a comedy!
Wow, WHO CARES?–you spent time to read and respond to something you claim is beneath you, so who’s the lame one?
I’m also excited for Scott Bakula’s return to TV, and hope that the show is good.
I have had a non-sexual man crush on Bakula since Eisenhower and Lutz!
Great to hear that Scott still has fans after all the flack he seemed to take for being “stiff and wooden” on Enterprise (my guess? he was *acting*)
Looking forward to this new show – like the premise – just wish we didn’t have to wait a whole year!
Quantum Leap is airing most weekdays at 5 on ION if you need some shirtless Scott.
Also saw Above Suspicion is on Lifetime Movie Network today (the 16th) at 6pm. There’s a shower scene…
I’m one of many Scott fans who has met him. In addition to being as good looking as you say, he’s really nice! (and gives good hugs)
Mandi, just saw a pic that reminded me
check out the movie Major League 3, Back to the Minors
and if you see love handles in the shirtless scene – well, I think he just put on weight to play the role. That man didn’t have any love handles the last time I saw his bare chest (i just can’t remember when that was, but that movie was before Enterprise)
