I hate long, ugly URLs, which is why I love TinyURL. Input an unwieldy link and the site will spit back a much shorter one that never expires and doesn’t break in e-mails.

It is (or was) also a common way to obscure virus URLs. Rather convenient to be able to replace www. badsite. com/ virus. exe with a random tinyurl, eh?
I wonder if I could use that when I have to compose my weekly e-newsletter since the articles that I have to use are so dang long

Seriously, you only just found tinyurl? That site is notorious for allowing spammers and/or rickrollers to cloak their links.
There are about 10 other major sites that do the same thing, such as snipurl.
